----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Luis Morago - Avaaz.org <avaaz(a)avaaz.org> To: "dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk" <dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk> Sent: Wednesday, 16 November 2011, 10:32 Subject: Save the Internet Dear friends, Right now, the US Congress is debating a law that would give them the power to censor the world's Internet -- creating a blacklist that could target YouTube, WikiLeaks and even Avaaz! Now if we stand with key members of the US Congress, we can defeat this attempt at global Internet censorship. Click here and help build an unprecedented global petition for a free and open Internet: Right now, the US Congress is debating a law that would give them the power to censor the world's Internet -- creating a blacklist that could target YouTube, WikiLeaks and even groups like Avaaz! Under the new law, the US could force Internet providers to block any website on suspicion of violating copyright or trademark legislation, or even failing to sufficiently police their users' activities. And, because so much of the Internet's hosts and hardware are located in the US, their blacklist would clamp down on the free web for all of us. The vote could happen any day now, but we can help stop this -- champions in Congress want to preserve free speech and tell us that an international outcry would strengthen their hand. Let’s urgently raise our voices from every corner of the world and build an unprecedented global petition calling on US decision makers to reject the bill andstop Internet censorship. Click below to sign and then forward as widely as possible -- our message will be delivered directly to key members of the US Congress ahead of the crucial vote: http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_internet/?vl For years, the US government has condemned countries like China and Iran for their clampdown on Internet use. But now, the impact of America's new censorship laws could be far worse -- effectively blocking sites to every Internet user across the globe. Last year, a similar Internet censorship bill was killed before reaching the US Senate floor, but it's now back in a different form. Copyright laws already exist and are enforced by courts. But this new law goes much further -- granting the government andbig corporations enormous powers to force service providers and search engines to block websites based just on allegations of violations -- without a trial or being found guilty of any crime! US free speech advocates have already raised the alarm, and some key Senators are trying to gather enough support to stop this dangerous bill. We have no time to lose. Let's stand with them to ensure American lawmakers preserve the right to a free and open Internet as an essential way for people around the world to exchange ideas, share communication and work collectively to build the world we want. Sign below to stop US censorship, and save the Internet as we know it: http://www.avaaz.org/en/save_the_internet/?vl In the past months, from the Arab Spring to the global Occupy Movement, we've seen first hand how the Internet can galvanize, unify and change the world. Now, if we stand together, we can stop this new attack on Internet freedom. We've done it before -- in Brazil and Italy, Avaaz members have won major victories in the fight for a free Internet. Let's take the fight global, and mobilize to defeat the most powerful censorship threat that the Internet has ever seen. A Dystopian Future Is Not Inevitable
by Kevin Carson 16 Nov '11

16 Nov '11

Sent to you by Kevin Carson via Google Reader: A Dystopian Future Is Not Inevitable via Falkvinge on Infopolicy by Zacqary Adam Green on 11/13/11 Swarm Economy – Zacqary Adam Green: As the unemployment crises of developed nations persist, there’s a growing sentiment that technology is to blame. It’s not just a neo-Luddite backlash against progress, but a fear amongst tech proponents that the bleak predictions of cyberpunk fiction may be coming true. They don’t have to. It’s debatable how much technological progress is to blame for the current unemployment crisis, but it certainly will be a central issue eventually. Software engineer Jon Evans sums up the problem quite nicely: America, Europe, and Japan all seem to be lurching from crisis to crisis without respite; most of the developed world is struggling with debilitating levels of unemployment; but at the same time, the tech world is booming like it’s 1999. Doesn’t that seem kind of weird? It’s beginning to look like we might have entered a two-track economy, in which a small minority reaps most of the benefits of technology that destroys more jobs than it creates. As my friend Simon Law says, “First we automated menial jobs, now we’re automating middle-class jobs. Unfortunately, we still demand that people have a job soon after becoming adults. This trend is going to be a big problem…” This problem, of course, is income inequality. In this plausible future (again, machine elimination of jobs is hardly the complete explanation for today’s crisis), the people employed to design and maintain automated systems would be the only ones with particularly well-paying (or essential) jobs. But there are seven billion people in the world, and it’d be hard to argue that there would be seven billion such jobs available. Those not fortunate enough to land one of the few crucial engineering positions would be left to do whatever menial work hadn’t yet been automated. What a shame. After all, isn’t the entire point of developing technology to make things easier for human beings? In fact, as Capitalism++ argues, “Unemployment often creates the greatest breakthroughs in human history. We should not be striving for full employment, we should be striving for full unemployment.” [Emphasis original] Unemployment offers a lot of free time which, at the least, can be put towards leisure, and at best, can be channeled into creativity and realization of ideas. So what a shame that technology seems poised not to free billions of people from work, but to cut off or drastically reduce their means of supporting themselves. Such horrible levels of inequality are an injustice; people on a mass scale forced to struggle to survive, all because they weren’t fortunate enough to snag one of the few top jobs. Even in a perfect and fair meritocracy, where all of the winners truly were the most qualified, the losers would hardly deserve their fate. Surely, though, no one would stand for this. The disenfranchised would rise up and fight for their dignity, wouldn’t they? Jon Evans isn’t so sure: It’s even been suggested that inequality may cause unrest and violence in the Western world. Don’t bet on it. True, inequality has provoked the Occupy movement, and to a lesser extent the Tea Party; but I’ve been around the block a few times, and take it from me, the world is full of nations with a tiny minority of the very rich, a slightly larger well-off elite, a small middle class, and a great majority who are various degrees of poor and struggling. Brazil, China, India and Russia, for instance, to name a famous foursome. There’s nothing unusual or inherently unstable about that kind of inequality. In fact, in most of the world, it’s the norm. Perhaps inequality isn’t inherently unstable. Maybe a mass uprising and fight for justice isn’t inevitable. Then again, as Evans’ comment about the Occupy and Tea Party movements earlier in the paragraph attests to, inequality isn’t inherently stable either, and a mass uprising isn’t impossible. The bleak, unequal, cyberpunk-esque dystopia that Evans believes may be approaching is only one possible future, and it depends on us doing nothing to stop it. Let’s not forget that labor-saving is far from the only thing that technology does. For example, manufacturing robots eliminate the need for human factory workers; they can also eliminate the need for factories. File-sharing and the Internet have worked to disrupt and threaten to collapse the entertainment industry, while simultaneously obsoleting it by empowering independent creative people to finance, promote, and distribute their work through peer-to-peer channels. Automated farming and hydroponic technology has put farm laborers out of work, but also opened up the possibility of low-maintenance indoor farms in every town and city. These are only a few examples of how for every swath of jobs destroyed by technological process, a whole new range of possibilities are opened up. In this future, where most menial labor is automated, billions of people have no workplace to go to and be told what to do all day. They also have the tools to manufacture anything that they can model on a computer, release any artwork they can create to the world at large, and grow food right in their own communities. Suddenly, the playing field seems a lot more level. Instead of finding jobs, people can create their own. Technological progress may very well create a future in which employers have less things that need to make people do. Good. It’s about time that the paradigm of supporting yourself by finding somebody to tell you what to do fell out of favor. But we need to ensure that once there are no more jobs to find, we all have the necessary tools and resources available to us to create our own jobs. We need to shift our society and our way of life towards this goal, and challenge the common notion that job-creation and entrepreneurship is only for a small minority of crazy, passionate, or rich people. It’s achievable, it’s doable, but it won’t happen all by itself. A better world is possible, but it’s no more inevitable than a worse one. Making it happen is the first job we need to create for ourselves. Fwd: THRIVE - Premiere Pictures and Review of the Movie

neal: have you seen it ? ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Sergio Lub <sergio(a)sergiolub.com> Date: Wed, Nov 16, 2011 at 1:55 AM Subject: THRIVE - Premiere Pictures and Review of the Movie Dears, Please find below a link to pictures of the Thrive Premiere from 11/11/11 and my comments on this remarkable movie. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lub/sets/72157628120229424 Instructions to see and copy any of these pictures: - Choose Slideshow at the upper right corner to easily see them all. The viewing speed is regulated at Options. - You can enlarge a picture by clicking on it and then again on the magnifying glass until it is at full resolution. You can then download it or right click on it to save it in your hard disk. - Feel free to use any image to advance the work of www.ThriveMovement.com THRIVE – Movie Review, by Sergio Lub My wife and I were part of a small group of networkers that gathered last September in Santa Cruz to watch a preview of THRIVE, the documentary that took Kimberly and Foster Gamble 8 years to make and features some of the best thinkers of our generation. Among cultural creatives, this movie has raised more expectations than any other that I remember. It has two trailers at www.ThriveMovement.com - and a vast website of documentation to support and expand on the facts mentioned in the movie. The accumulated body of evidence is so large that I heard people say “the movie is a trailer for the website.” The expected deluge of traffic is such that a sophisticated international network of servers in the US and abroad have been enlisted to prevent crashing due to high volume or attempts to undermine the disclosure. THRIVE was successfully launched around the world simultaneously and in many languages on 11/11/11. Its premiere was in the magnificent Craneway Pavillion by Pt. Richmond's waterfront - www.craneway.com - This is the converted historic factory where Rosie the Riveter worked making tanks during WWII and showed a woman’s worth to the world with her iconic poster Yes We Can! Thrive Premiere 500 tickets sold out on September 9, two hours after they went on sale. THRIVE the Movie Going to this private showing I had a nagging suspicion that all this secrecy and elaborate launching plans could be more hype than substance. I know Foster Gamble as a very conscious man, but how can a documentary be so interesting? Half way into the showing I understood what was happening, and a chill ran up my spine. This movie is exposing why we have wars, famines, poisoning of our biosphere, junk foods, censorship of alternative energy sources, suppression of meaningful education and institutional attacks on effective natural remedies. THRIVE allows us to clearly ascend the pyramid of power until reaching – and bravely naming – the few at the top who control most of the world. It goes on to expose their detailed plan and why they are doing it. Driven by a mentality of scarcity and fear that includes culling the population of the world by reducing fertility, by covert sterilization, toxic food and water and by wars of aggression - strategies that have been applied already for decades. Then I understood why THRIVE had to be kept secret until it needed to be launched in such a big scale that it could no longer be contained. When you are exposing people that have already killed millions with their policies, you have to be not only very brave, but you must do it in such a massive and well documented way that attacking the messenger may no longer stop the truth. Play it Forward As a descendant of the founder of Procter and Gamble, Foster was groomed since his youth to be a leader in the establishment, but he chose a different path. His wife Kimberly Carter Gamble, grew up close to Los Angeles movie scene. Neither of them had any illusions about showing THRIVE through the normal distribution channels created for airing Hollywood’s entertainment films and subject to the censorship of its corporate interests. They also wanted to reward their investors and produce a revenue stream that would support the THRIVE movement and model radical global transformation as a prosperous endeavor, hopefully inspiring others to do similar work. One aspect of their innovative approach is a partnership with Elevate’s “PlayItForward,” an original idea based on a very human tendency. If people like a movie, they can gift it to their friends with a couple of clicks and the recipients may in turn feel inclined to do the same, thus “playing it forward.” This novel feature is explained at www.thrivemovement.com Learning How to Thrive The THRIVE team was committed to providing solutions that are a match to the problems we face. The first and last of THRIVE’s four chapters are an in-depth and detailed exploration of solutions, the actions we can take, as individuals and in large groups, in order to grow out of our present predicament – to not only survive, but to thrive. These solutions are all organized on the website, so you can just enjoy the beautiful, compelling journey of the film, and after you have had a chance to digest this incredible feast of knowledge, I believe you will be tempted to work on the strategies for solutions, and thus add your shoulder to the Thrive movement. As the price to buy a particular currency falls, so to does the real price of exports from the country. Imports become more expensive too, so domestic industry, and thus employment, receives a boost in demand both at home and abroad. However, the price increase in imports can harm citizens' purchasing power <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purchasing_power>. The policy can also trigger retaliatory action by other countries which in turn can lead to a general decline in international trade, harming all countries.

Invitation - Help US create a better world. http://www.yout

Help US create a better world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tukt3se9cz4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xq3BYw4xjxE Let`s change this system that deprive us from all resources, products and services we need to live creating money as a barrier in a linear centralized pyramid structure. All money is created through debit. When people are in debit they submit to work. So debit is slavery. Who creates the money? Private Banks are the owners of the FED. FED creates money out of the thin air by just printing it. Private Banks also create money through loans by bookkeeping. And, all money in circulation needs to be repaid to Banks with interest. So there is more debit than money. This monetarism economy is a Ponzi scheme because the bankruptcy is inevitable since the debit is higher than the money created/ in circulation. Private Banks creates money that even government needs to work. So, in this monetarism society Government`s Policy will be always dictated by Private Banks. But the true source of wealth are We The People. Without US money and any other asset has no value. We are the true source of wealth, not gold, silver, diamond or any other thing. All process of money creation relies on a pyramid structure build to slave US. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGk5ioEXlIM The pyramid structure was created to slave people only. http://www.ted.com/talks/yochai_benkler_on_the_new_open_source_economics.ht… You are invited to contribute to create a new social infrastructure decentralized, sustainable and Open Source to Occupy Movement. It should be collaborative to link people with energy and knowledge to change matter to solve each people‘s need. It should be easy to replicate and adaptable to help create communities all across USA. It should be open source in format of spheres, work independently in cycles and not linear centralized pyramids, to aim open competition of ideas to spread the best practices and create a better world. Money is only an idea backed by confidence, backed by US. Without US money and any asset are nothing. It is time to each person create its own money backed by their work, in decentralized way. There are people unemployed, there is knowledge available, energy, needs and matter. Let`s reorganize USA into a sphere society. Let`s bring the pyramid down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=v=kdGi6Q3N9tY We aim an Open Source Society that change competition of people to competition of ideas and collaboration. Everybody can contribute with knowledge, work and ideas locally and globally to solve each need for their society and to the world. It should help each community to make products and services and also do the exchange things with each other replacing money. It is not a barter system. It is a system where each person writes their needs and community organizes itself to provide all their needs in a circular and sustainable way. The best practices, products and service can be replicated and spread across nation. This open source platform has to be developed and can be inspired by best practices and ideas across the world. For instance see: http://www.innocentive.com/ http://web.mit.edu/mitpsc/whatwedo/ideas-competition/ http://globalchallenge.mit.edu/ http://www.storyofstuff.com/movies-all/story-of-broke/ It should add the animation style to easy the idea and knowledge transmission. http://comment.rsablogs.org.uk/videos/ And look for as best content as possible. http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm The open platform should connect the people’s need with knowledge, energy and matter in a sustainable way to produce products and services to solve each people`s need. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GorqroigqM http://www.appropedia.org/Open_Source_Ecology http://p2pfoundation.net/Open_Source_Ecology http://diydrones.com/ http://reprap.org/wiki/Main_Page http://makeprojects.com/Topic/Open_Source_Hardware http://www.makerbot.com/ http://www.arduino.cc/ http://labs.nortd.com/lasersaur/ http://www.willowgarage.com/ http://techshop.ws/ http://www.sparkfun.com/ We ask you donation of time and work. And anybody willing to help can be empowered with open source knowledge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S63Cy64p2lQ Choose your element and join US. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TAqSBMZDY8 Remember: energy equals matter plus squared speed of light (E = m x c2). Each small group has its problems to be solved. All they need is knowledge, energy and access to raw matter to solve its problems. There is no need of money (money is only an idea backed by confidence with some functions). There is plenty of decentralized energy from the sun: http://www.spectrolab.com/ http://www.physorg.com/news99904887.html http://www.physorg.com/news119107136.html http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Boy-Solar-Energy-Efficiency,news-12247.html We can change any matter with knowledge and energy. With knowledge and energy we can solve all our problems: http://group4labs.com/ http://www.geek.com/articles/chips/81ghz-diamond-semiconductor-created-2003… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PILlP_yDZ2o Money is nothing but only an idea backed by confidence with some functions. http://www.youtube.com/user/theamericandreamfilm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9JSKPxQjMo http://p2pfoundation.net/OWS_Currency#Features If all clients of any Bank draw all their money from the Bank, it goes bankrupt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc3sKwwAaCU Even a child knows the sphere is the most basic form in this Universe. Figure it out: when a child blows a soap bubble why it takes the shape of a sphere and not a pyramid? So, why did we accept pyramids in all human structures (social, work, army, religion and all sort of human organizations)? All those pyramid structures create and maintain the 1% exploiting the 99%. Why a dog doesn't see the chain around its neck? Maybe because it is too close to the eyes. But after it sees/senses the chain, it will only try to get rid of it if it is a free dog (it is not used to wear chains around its neck). All pyramid system are nothing but a structure to slave people. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Girl_blowing_bubbles.jpg The concepts of divided linear thinking in hierarchies, priorities, competition and segments drive to a pyramid society. In order to one person climb the pyramid other has to fall. This concept is over and does not work anymore. It is crazy to maximize the idea (money) instead of the creator of the idea that is the human being. The human brain does not work like that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWMZg1YL4A4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G49q6uPcwY8 It is time to change from monetarism economy to a resource based economy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mkRFCtl2MI http://www.youtube.com/user/OpenSourceEconomy That new economy should aim to maximize the human quality of life in a sustainable and circular (not linear) way. http://www.youtube.com/user/storyofstuffproject The real world is not a zero sum economy. http://comment.rsablogs.org.uk/2010/06/28/rsa-animate-crisis-capitalism/ The time is now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEjWlsUfz8E We are the change. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwMrXWPaPRI The key to set US free is with US and none but ourselves can free our minds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5-pg0i5Iog We are the true source of wealth and not money, gold or any other metal or rock. Do not be deceived with gold. Gold is only a metal with some peculiar chemicals properties. Even a child knows if all Earth was made of gold, we would not have the current products, development, services... we have. The value of money is backed by US only. We are the true source of wealth and we are the solution for our society. We can move from a pyramid society to a sphere society all interconnected. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_network http://news.yahoo.com/open-source-software-heres-occupy-wall-street-co-1821… Do not expect a hero, a leader or government to help US. Each of US are the leader and we need to help each other. http://www.youtube.com/user/theamericandreamfilm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgYE75gkzkM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S63Cy64p2lQ We need an open platform, a place to connect people`s needs with knowledge to change matter to solve people`s need. We need an open platform that can replace money with information. In the bottom line, each people will make their own money through providing solutions to other people's need in a circular interconnected way. It is the end of the linear pyramid structure. Because, if we let the pyramid society unchecked, the top of the pyramid will always print wealth out of the thin air and the 1% would continue to slave the 99%. Even a child knows if that happens money would lose completely its value. Wealth has been concentrated for years and money is losing its value for years. Money is nothing but only an idea backed by confidence with some functions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money If all clients of any Bank draw all their money from the Bank, it goes bankrupt. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc3sKwwAaCU Even a child knows the sphere is a basic form of most stuff in Universe, not a pyramid. So, why did we accept pyramids in all human structures (social, work, army, religion and all sort of human organizations). All those pyramid structures create and maintain the 1% exploiting the 99%. Why a dog doesn't see the chain around its neck? Maybe because it is too close. But after it sees/senses the chain, it will only try to get rid of it if it is a free dog (it is not used to wear chains around its neck). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Girl_blowing_bubbles.jpg The concepts of divided linear thinking in hierarchies, priorities, competition and segments drive to a pyramid society. In order to one person climb the pyramid other has to fall. This concept is over and does not work anymore. It is crazy to maximize the idea (money) instead of the creator of the idea that is the human being. The human brain does not work like that. It is time to change from monetarism economy to a resource based economy that aims to maximize the human quality of life in a sustainable and circular (not linear) way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mkRFCtl2MI The real world is not a zero sum economy. http://comment.rsablogs.org.uk/2010/06/28/rsa-animate-crisis-capitalism/ The time (to change) is now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73gtsiWu8g4 http://www.youtube.com/user/OccupyTV?blend=22&ob=5#p/p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXf1xipEWG4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tjyT8WLvK0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjUIEAZr4Yo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXOGhP2DBjQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DGxNna8Q54 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QApWKmqUhMU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tb2fE68UGg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eb26NhGh_cU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-1TdemR7_Q http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYizXBQ5EQA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpGA_VRc1Ro

Fw: Financial Collapse: It's Only Natural

----- Forwarded Message ----- From: John Fullerton <jfullerton(a)capitalinstitute.org> To: Robert Searle <dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk> Sent: Tuesday, 15 November 2011, 0:15 Subject: Financial Collapse: It's Only Natural 73 Arch Street, 3rd Floor Greenwich, CT 06830 United States(203)769-1191 ________________________________ Financial Collapse: It's Only Natural “What does the collapse of MF Global, the Euro crisis, the sub-prime mortgage crisis, the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and the 1998 collapse of Long Term Capital Management all have in common? Certainly these crises all shared the following characteristics: too much leverage, lack of transparency, inadequate regulatory oversight, agency problems of misaligned incentives, and failures of leadership at the very least. This is what we know, and we’re frustrated watching inadequate public and private sector responses to these problems. Viewed through a natural systems lens these debacles can be seen with a new clarity. We see a system architecture and accompanying ideology that is the cause of these repeated failures. Only by understanding systemic design failures rather than simply reacting to problems do we find the path to real solutions.” Read more here. ________________________________ Andy Haldane on Financial Stability On October 24th, Executive Director of Financial Stability at the Bank of England Andy Haldane gave the Annual Wincott Memorial Lecture in which he explained how the structure of the financial system inevitably leads to collapse and that we must fix it. Martin Wolf responded with the following description: “In this lecture, Mr Haldane provides a compelling account of the first of these elements. He provides an analytical history of the development of western – and, in particular – British banking over the past two centuries, to demonstrate the consequences of a progressive divorce between who controls the banks – shareholders and managers - and who bears the risk – society at large and, in particular, taxpayers. The story is gripping, convincing and terrifying. It shows that each step along this road to ruin seemed eminently reasonable, if not inevitable, to sensible people. Yet the journey has ended up with over-leveraged, risk-taking behemoths, operated in the interests of short-term shareholders and management, which are both too big to fail and too big to save. The analysis raises profound questions about how we go from where we are.” Read Haldane’s speech here (in PDF format). ________________________________ Breaking the Work-Spend Cycle An article in last Friday’s New York Times reported on would-be shoppers’ strong objection to big box stores’ announcement that their employees would be forced to cut short family dinners to work on Thanksgiving evening. This may be the beginning of a massive shift in our national consumer consciousness—as we begin to understand how the “work to spend” cycle is eroding the quality of our American lives. Exploring how we can break this destructive cycle and achieve a more meaningful life, a more sustainable economy and a healthier ecosystem has been Juliet Schor’s life work. Read our updated Braintrust profile of Schor, where we report on how her personal life’s trajectory and that of her work as a scholar of labor and consumer culture have intersected. (Read also about her connection to Harvard’s storied Econ 10 class, and on how Martin Feldstein cancelled the section on “radical” economics that Schor planned to teach!) ________________________________ Big Choice: Update If you read the major papers after the Obama Administration's decision to review the Keystone XL Pipeline Environmental Impact Statement, you would think it was a major win for environmental groups and was going to negatively affect employment. But the idea that we need to choose between jobs and the environment is wrong. As John Fullerton presented in the Big Choice, we must find a way to leave many of our fossil fuel resources in the ground if we're going to withstand the climate crisis. This starts with leaving dirtiest fuels, like the Canadian tar sands oil the Keystone XL Pipeline would carry. By submitting the environmental impact statement for review, the Obama Administration is taking one small step in the right direction.
