Mark: You and your compatriots on P2P view the world from revisionism. Go ahead and keep looking through your microscope-provided by your "teachers." Or take the time and read some very old documented evidence available at a library near you= but you may need to stay there awhile on microfiche. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Janssen Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 4:39 PM To: P2P Foundation mailing list Subject: Re: [P2P-F] Fw: Info On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Natalie Golovin <10natalie(a)cox.net> wrote: > The European Tribes treated the Natives no worse than they treated each > other. Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. Dear Orsan, it is precisely for this reason that we parted with flok in the longer term, we need to find and focus on the protocols that are necessary to retain equipotentiality in a network ... perhaps we could work together on identifying those rules ? it has been on the back of my mind for a few years, see http://p2pfoundation.net/Category:P2P_Hierarchy_Theory and http://www.diigo.com/user/mbauwens/Protocollary-Power .. It seems to me that the work of Stephen Downes would be a great starting point .. http://p2pfoundation.net/Category:P2P_Hierarchy_Theory?search=stephen+downe… for example: http://p2pfoundation.net/Democratic_Institutional_Design / http://p2pfoundation.net/Knowing_Networks so my proposal is to have a joint page where we can jot down the rules that maintain true distribution of power Michel <<>From the communist manifesto to first international, from Erfurt and Gotha to Comintern the discussion between theses and factions, being formed among groups of friends, based on one important but small faction or an entirely new frame of theoretical-analytical abstraction, took the conflicts between individuals and caused strong and irreversible demarcations between sppousedly emancipatory visions and energies.. May be most of the time very stupid reasons, like money, girl, ego casued these we can't now... Then we (emancipatory peopel) had reproduced the power games of rulers -can be traced easily in the tone of writings of Marx, Engels, Luxembourg, Kautsky, Lenin, Proudhon, Bakunin,... the spirit of the time is gaining respect and authority for argument was full fledged attacks on personality.. plus whatever possible, as may be a result of structural possibilities limiting communication. It killed the true spirit of revolution/emancipation as well as prevented prefigurative ethical politics as such. In my opinion this made it possible for the rulers to survive and evolve into capitalist class agency for itself and gave them advantage. Since they saw that their grave digger were also like them.. since we did reproduce the capitalist form of power accumulation. It is not possible in the same way today, p2p mode of communication allows more open confrontations and conflict resolution processes, egalitarian and ethical - prefigurative relationships, as well as checks and balances. Still there are ways and tricks to gain network power and use it against the 'lower order' nodes? so on these weaknesses there is a work to do. Yet the structurally speaking it is not impossible to solve these problems today>> -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

< Today, you can in real time collaborate with agency that would in the past seemed opponent to you politically; like Phorudon and Marx (anarchism vs communism), Lasal and Spartakists as well as Lenin and Kautsky (Socialism vs. Social Democracy), as well as all the following generations of left and progressive fracitonalism. This made possible for capitalism to assert itself as an irreversible and immortal historical structure.> Dear Orsan, I'm not sure how to understand that argument. I would say yes, networks function by affinity and seek commonality for joint action, and much of the earlier antagonisms seem antiquated. I think it is also a epistemological and multi-perspectival or trans-paradigmic issue: do we have to agree with marx 100% and reject Proudhon or rather can we expect that there is truth in various positions ? Are all the debates and antagonisms of the 19th and 20th cy fully operational today ? But I'm not sure how this is related to 'made it possible for capitalism to assert itself" How is the fact that say anarchists and communists can now talk to each other and transcend former antagonisms, related to capital's self-assertion ? I fully agree with your last paragraph: <" as long as we are doing trans-level and multi-dimentional practice of community/network building and interlinking work (allowing empowerment of ourselves and all the nodes simultaneously), it does not matter that much what we have as personal visions, preferences, expectations, predictions, so on.. about the future and nature of transition. The previous organisational forms, like part, platform, block, front, did not allow such collaborative and egaliterian ethical alliances. Now it is more possible then before, not perfectly smooth of course. With the 'quantum-logic' I was reffering this new possibility. This is an outcome of the technological-communicational paradigm shift, and at the moment it works for the advantage of the ruled, yet it might not last long."> -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Dear Denis, though we are always in danger of the tyranny of structurelessness, I would consider how the p2p foundation works, where contributors discuss joint actions but remain maximally free, as prefigurative, i.e. it is the kind of world I would like to live in .. this is not to say that every is great but the human quality of our interactions makes for a stimulating and meaningful environment in which no one is willfully oppressed .. the issues that we face are serious issues, but they are not the result of willfull structural inequality, but rather of cultural weaknesses but as we grow, we would need formal rules a la Stephen Downes <<Denis Postle writes: You sometimes mention 'pre-figurative governance' Michel, could you say something about how you see this in practice? Marco Giustini writes: <IMHO is needed to create a political P2P movement. And, as I said you before, to transform the P2P Foundation into an "activists' agency", a sort of help desk for activists interesting in replicating ideas and practices worldwide.> Hi Marco, I believe the P2P Foundation should remain a political catalyst AND pluralistic incubator for all kinds of initiatives promoting the expansion of peer to peer modalities, which includes political representation. For example, we will be organizing, with orsan's help, a major conference and initiative around the Politcs and Policy of the Commons . What we can't be is a factional force amongst others. The pluralistic way I advocate combines the creation of bottom up assemblies and chambers of the commons, producing social charters that can be used to support the various political representations that agree with its principles, Michel -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Open Scientist Lisi’s Exceptionally Simple [E8] Theory of Everything vs. Netarchical Michio Kaku’s String Theory of Everything Wikipedia entry >Antony Garrett Lisi (born January 24, 1968), known as Garrett Lisi,[1] is an American theoretical physicist and adventure sports enthusiast. Lisi works as an independent researcher without an academic position. He is a strong proponent of balance in life, in his case between scientific research and enjoyment of the outdoors.[2][3][4] Lisi is known for “An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything,” a paper proposing aunified field theory based on the E8 Lie group, combining particle physics with Einstein’s theory of gravitation. Altough the theory is incomplete and not widely accepted by the physics community, it is the biggest threat to Koku’s String Theory of Everything. This decision was made based on an evaluation of the proceedings of the WSF 2013, and a common assessment of the situation of struggles marshalled by different social movements in the region, and the world, as well as the new geopolitical context and the evolving nature of the neoliberal crisis. Indeed, it is now imperative to realize that since 2011, and after Arab revolutions have represented a source of hope to uplift the region from its status-quo, and a source of inspiration for the entire world to change, the Arab region is currently undergoing deeply worrisome dynamics. Governments in power over the past three years have yet to put in place the necessary policies and programs which respond to the claims of young people seeking freedom and employment, women seeking equality, social movements seeking social justice. On the contrary, throughout the region the flows of weapons and violence abound, and religious extremism is deepening its reach, neo-liberal policies dictated by the World Bank and the IMF are presented as the only solution and the social movements and democratic movements are criminalized. External political and military interventions have become the rule, each time instrumentalizing internal instability to facilitate interventions by the United States, Europe, Turkey and the Gulf countries. Beyond the Maghreb and the Mashreq, the African continent has become the primary source of raw material, present as the “new economic frontier”, it too a frontier ravaged by violent extremism, the plundering of its resources, and the devastating violence inflicted by structural adjustment programs and the militarization of its territories. Everywhere in the world, including in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America, social movements find themselves facing aggravating economic, social and environmental crisis, as well as a systemic attack on their rights. New tensions, directly related to hegemonic practices to appropriate resources and conquer markets, threaten to bring the worst in Europe, Asia and Africa. The World Social Forum remains, more than ever, a vital space for social movements which struggle to preserve people’s dignity, so that they remain masters of their own destiny, able to fight for and acquire new economic, social, cultural and environmental rights, and able to construct alternatives to the neoliberal world order. The social movements of Tunis, as well as of the Mashreq and Maghreb invite you to join their efforts in the construction of a more just world, where justice, equality and peace prevail, and where alternatives for the current world order, to which countless populations aspire, are discussed and debated. Together, we would like to work to put together an open, participatory and democratic mechanism for the organization of the World Economic Forum 2015.
