Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. It is not a matter of history *only*, it is still happening today. I don't know much about the US, but in South America Christians and capitalists are still killing indigenous and peasant peoples every single day. West Afica also, anywhere there is oil and other resources and land it happens. What needs revision is the apologetic babble about it being in the past and not so bad. It simply sends a signal of a lacking human empathy and/or suggests total ignorance. I actually feel sorry for you, but it also makes me plain angry to hear such terrible views. People who live in their "own" times are very strange to me. You don't own time. That is an anti-social disconnection. People live in the world's time, are connected to everyone else, and the past is our future. On 24/10/11 02:05, Natalie Golovin wrote:

Hi Natalie, I was reading through some old emails and saw that somehow we were disputing each other, but at the same time, I believe we're on the same team. Just wanted to let you know (if you're still there) that I think there was a misunderstanding on the p2p mailing list where we were engaged. I was holding the Earth Dream at that time for 2012 (which has since been shelved into the movie Avatar) and quite defensive against anyone suggesting that the American Indians "deserved" the battles they endured "because they warred with themselves" and other white narratives. I don't know if this helps or hurts the conversation, but I'm still here if there exists the possibility of resolving anything... Cheers, Mark On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 7:19 PM Natalie Golovin <[email protected]> wrote:
