Mark: You and your compatriots on P2P view the world from revisionism. Go ahead and keep looking through your microscope-provided by your "teachers." Or take the time and read some very old documented evidence available at a library near you= but you may need to stay there awhile on microfiche. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Janssen Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 4:39 PM To: P2P Foundation mailing list Subject: Re: [P2P-F] Fw: Info On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Natalie Golovin <10natalie(a)cox.net> wrote: > The European Tribes treated the Natives no worse than they treated each > other. Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. open capital License?
by Apostolis Xekoukoulotakis 19 Mar '13

19 Mar '13

If we define the open paradigm as the one's right to access information or resources, then what is the equivalent ,to GPL, license when it comes to resources and especially capital(infrastructure)? (When it comes to capital, open access can be a bit more restrictive, ie allowing only the consumers and producers to have access ) The gpl license prohibits that subsequent releases of the code as closed-source. This is a protection mechanism that needs to be used for capital as well. Here capital is not an idea, but a material thing that either exists now or we have a promise for its existence in the future(money). Has anyone defined a license or a set of rules that need to apply to money and the existent capital so as to be called open capital? I think that we are lucking a good rule set when it comes to money. As I have said in this list many times before, inequalities can arise even in an environment where all knowledge is open source and all resources are peer governed simply because we have small differences in abilities and thus a difference in accumulated value(money) which if it reaches critical mass could lead again to big inequalities(since money create money). -- Sincerely yours, Apostolis Xekoukoulotakis

by Gordon Cook 26 Feb '13

hello all, Michel I understand that you will be giving a public seminar of two in Barcelona some where between about March 3rd and march 9th?? Would you point to me on this guifi.net page http://guifi.net/en/node/56406 please and say that Isaac wilder and myself will be coming to Barcelona may 2nd or 3rd until about the 22. Your audience in Barcelona can down load my report from here. http://guifi.net/en/node/56406. Isaac and myself are very very interested in meeting people in may who attend your seminar because we want to find out evereything about guifinet and its economics and how it works and how it affects peoples life's.... we would like to use the net to make as many appointments to stay with people and talk to people as possible. we would be especially looking for someone with a car who speaks English fluently who could help us met guifi users in rural areas and translate for interviews that i hope to do. we would pay petrol expenses for the car. We also hope to visit valencia where guifi has 5,000 nodes. "Do It Ourselves Telecommunications" Blog entry "Do It Ourselves Telecommunications" has been updated. created: Tue, 19/02/2013 - 20:44 — Gordon Cook - updated: 25/02/2013 - 11:00pm This is the title of the 154 page March April 2013 COOK Report that I published Feb 1 on Guifi.net and on Isaac Wilder FNF in Kansas City. As I understand it Isaac is still FNF in the US as an over all group but that his Kansas City network is becoming Guifi.us Isaac and I and maybe I hope Jeff Michka are planning to visit Catalonia and València in early May -starting May 3rd- and leaving, I think, May 22 for london. We want to form a real functional colaborative operation with Guifi net and take what you have accomplished back to the USA and set up guifi there. I am hoping also to build a bridge between guifi and B4RN (http://b4rn.org.uk/) in the UK. I will upload an agenda of the kind of information I am looking for along with the meetings and the rest of the travelling plan soon. In the meantime you can read the report and make comments. Find it as an attached file to this blog entry. Fwd: Keiser Report - Chris Cook in second part ( energy backed currencies )

don't miss this edition: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dante-Gabryell Monson <dante.monson(a)gmail.com> Date: Sun, Feb 24, 2013 at 9:28 PM Subject: Keiser Report - Chris Cook in second part ( energy backed currencies ) To: econowmix(a)googlegroups.com You will find a recent interview with Chris Cook<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Cook_(energy_market_strategist)> in the second part of the Keiser Report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHuGVkTwMb8 In the first part, you can listen to an overview of changes in long term economic and financial trends, by a combination of factors such as reduction of wages ( in relation to productivity ? ) which in turn reduces potential for consumption, until now sustained by a reduction in food and other commodity prices, which itself reaches a limit. ( reducing food prices through government subsidies ) Poverty rates ( in the US ) have never been as high ( inequalities bigger then in the 1920's crisis ). Over 120% of increases in wealth creation since the beginning of the crisis have shifted to the top 1%, meaning the 1% do not only take all of the productivity gains, but increased their share by reducing the share of wealth from the 99 percent. -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Property and Commons The new issues of shared access and innovation International Seminar
by Michel Bauwens 23 Feb '13

23 Feb '13

*[image: propice]*** * * *Property and Commons* *The new issues of shared access and innovation * * * *International Seminar * * * *Paris, 25-26 April 2013* * * * * This seminar will present for discussion the results of three years of surveys and research carried out in the framework of the PROPICE project (Intellectual Property, Commons and Exclusivity), sponsored by the French National Research Agency. The research contributes to the fundamental observation that the rise and reinforcement of intellectual property rights over the last thirty years, marked by exclusivism, has generated strong tensions that often conflict with the needs of the numerous communities or innovators and creators. Consequently, the formation of commons in the domain of scientific, technical or artistic creation can be seen as a series of attempts to build legal and organisational tools to surmount the obstacles and limits imposed by the strengthening of diverse intellectual property rights. By combining historical and empirical studies in multiple fields (ICT, biotech, pharmaceuticals, cultural goods, etc.) with economic and legal approaches, the research carried out in PROPICE is intended to help portray the promises and difficulties inherent in the construction of commons as alternatives to the implementation of exclusive IPR The PROPICE project, under the scientific direction of Benjamin Coriat, brings together three partners: - The CEPN (UMR CNRS 7234) from the University of Paris 13, (Sorbonne, Paris Cité); PROPICE team directed by B. Coriat - The CRDST (Centre de Recherche sur le Droit des Sciences et des Techniques) from the University of Paris 1; PROPICE team directed by C. More-than-Human Participation Christian Nold (University College London); Royal Geographical Society with IBG, 28th-30th August 2013, London. Addressing the conference theme of ‘new geographical frontiers’, this is one of three RGS-IBG sessions, dedicated to participatory science, to be held at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre. Entrance to these sessions is free. Sponsored by HGRG, SCGRG, PyGyRG and GIScRG (research groups of the Royal Geographical Society with IBG) in association with London’s Science Museum and UCL's Extreme Citizen Science Research Group. Deadline: Saturday 23rd February 2013 Currently, in the fields of Citizen Science, Participatory Sensing and the Internet of Things, people are being encouraged to use technical systems to record and measure the external environment. Innovatively, this session adopts a 'more-than-human' framework (Latour 2004, Bennett 2010), to draw attention to the agency and activities of non-human actors such as living animals and plants, technical devices, concepts and places. This session aims to explore the often surprising consequences of research where technologies gain their own agency, and the environment starts to speak back: what happens when researchers try to turn citizens into sensors (Goodchild 2007) and sensor assemblages start to becoming citizens? This session asks for papers that examine Citizen Science, Participatory Sensing or the Internet of Things, with a focus on the activities of more-than-human actors and addresses these questions: - What kinds of new knowledge emerge when we pay attention to the participation of more-than-human actors? - What kinds of power relationships emerge when institutional actors have to deal with more-than-humans? - How can we co-design for the participation of more-than-human collaborators? Please send all abstracts (max. 300 words including title, name, contact details, abstract) and/or questions to Christian Nold ( christian(a)softhook.com) Please submit abstracts by Saturday 23rd February so that I have time to get the session organised. -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/ -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/
