Mark: You and your compatriots on P2P view the world from revisionism. Go ahead and keep looking through your microscope-provided by your "teachers." Or take the time and read some very old documented evidence available at a library near you= but you may need to stay there awhile on microfiche. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Janssen Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 4:39 PM To: P2P Foundation mailing list Subject: Re: [P2P-F] Fw: Info On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Natalie Golovin <10natalie(a)cox.net> wrote: > The European Tribes treated the Natives no worse than they treated each > other. Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. Sorry.... marcos _______________________________________________ P2P Foundation - Mailing list http://www.p2pfoundation.net https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation

It doesn't look very active right now but I will monitor it over the course of the week and ask Ron how it will work with the event. I will keep you posted on this. - Blog post write up: by FoOs Anthony Robinson in a format to be decided, which could be: - Giving voice to participants sense of the event and its importance/implications, or - a blog post from Anthony, or - a combination of the two. - I will share the aims of the Future of Occupy team and invite the organizers and participants of Making Worlds to post about the conference on SoC and FoO websites. - If we don't yet know beforehand, Anthony will let all of us know about livestream when on the ground at the conference. Fwd: Synthesis - Chinese Thinking and Complexity

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Greg Fisher <greg.fisher(a)synthesisips.net> Date: Thu, Mar 14, 2013 at 8:40 PM Subject: Synthesis - Chinese Thinking and Complexity To: Michel Bauwens <michel(a)p2pfoundation.net> Dear Michel, *Chinese Thinking and Complexity* *"...*when I talk about Complexity theory with fellow Westerners who are unaware of complex systems, I sometimes feel they think me insane because my framing sits uncomfortably with their view of the world. Equivalently, when I have the same conversation with Chinese people, they often think me insane because what I am saying is blindingly obvious.*"* At a conference I attended last week in Singapore, a question occurred to me about whether the Chinese mind-set is more conducive to Complexity theory than the Western mind-set. At the conference, research was presented suggesting there was a material difference between the two. I discuss this in the article, concluding that it might well be that the Chinese tend to think more "complexly" than Westerners. http://www.synthesisips.net/blog/chinese-thinking-and-complexity/<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc15…> Best wishes, Greg Fisher Managing Director Synthesis IPS Check out our website: www.synthesisips.net Join us on twitter: @synthesisips<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc15…> p.s. if you would like to remain on our contacts database but would prefer to unsubscribe from blog notifications, you can do this by updating your profile here<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage.com/profile?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc1561804…> . --------------------------- Unsubscribe<http://synthesisips.us4.list-manage2.com/unsubscribe?u=5c4cc0cbd91536cfdc15…>me from Synthesis' contacts database. Fwd: A Resilient Business Must Do This First
by Michel Bauwens 24 Apr '13

24 Apr '13

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: John Robb (Resilient Communities) <admin(a)resilientcommunities.com> Date: Tue, Apr 23, 2013 at 11:14 PM Subject: A Resilient Business Must Do This First To: michelsub2004(a)gmail.com Having problems viewing this email? View this post on our website<https://cs962.infusionsoft.com/app/linkClick/5811/489c0db804d67f69/1988046/…> . [image: printlogo-1329425488189.jpeg] How Do You Build a Resilient Business? Build a Community First By John Robb Here's a letter for anybody that is interesting in starting a local business or running a business from home that sells products online. _________ I interviewed a couple of successful entrepreneurs last week on the Resilient Roundtable. They are doing so well and having such a good time with their new business that they recently quit their "day jobs." That makes them very lucky. They get to spend their productive hours on creative, innovative, and challenging work they can enjoy, locally. Not only that, they can support themselves financially doing it. What made them successful? It's a feature we are going to see again and again in successful businesses. It's a feature that is going to make them resilient. They built a small, but growing, community of customers and fans *before*they sold their first product *.* [image: 10000Fans]<https://cs962.infusionsoft.com/app/linkClick/9292/2d7e2301ea2188a0/1988046/…> A community of people that are enthusiastic about what they build. A community that supported them when they launched and is now supporting them as they build out the business. *A Resilient Business * Here's what makes this both a revolutionary and resilient improvement to running a small business. Building a community first allowed them to avoid/bypass/route-around: - *financial middlemen*, making it much more likely for them to retain ownership of the business long term. - *retail middlemen*, which allowed them to cut their prices in half. - *marketing middlemen*, this reduced their expenses during launch and has allowed them to grow organically. As you can see, a community allows for a leaner cost-structure - and the avoidance of debt. This will help the business survive long term and makes it easier to generate the income needed to support the founders. Not only that, but if these entrepreneurs are honest and treat their community well, they will support their endeavors for decades to come. Mastering the art of building a community of supporters is quickly becoming the defining feature of a resilient entrepreneur. In fact, in a world awash with too many ideas, it's likely the key attribute. Yours, JOHN ROBB [image: JR Small]<https://cs962.infusionsoft.com/app/linkClick/9294/cbdb35267cd51469/1988046/…> PS: Why is this important? The old economy isn't delivering the goods. We are poorer today than we were *in 1980*. Worse, the old economy is shrinking. The percentage of people in the workforce is smaller today than it was in 1984. On a personal level, most of us are working longer hours, for less pay, in jobs we don't like. If we have a family, we can't even spend the time with our kids that we should. So, as risky or difficult the approach I describe above sounds, the old approach looks riskier... PPS: If you are running a small business, keep it small, lean and nimble. Don't grow beyond what is fun. The critical thing is to stay viable over the long term, not to grow as big as possible. For your convenience, John Robb will deliver his articles straight to your inbox each time a post is made! I look forward to the ongoing conversation and you're always welcome to post your comments at www.resilientcommunities.com<https://cs962.infusionsoft.com/app/linkClick/5813/031e0b62f30ad32c/1988046/…>.
