For this reason I include #p2pwikisprint, p2pfoundation below and I have included Michel Bauwens in the cc. *Addressing:* 1. All of us re: the skype call we (the Future of Occupy) had today and 2. Potential collaborators (Michel, Dan, Stephen, Mayo). * * 1. Skype call* * * * *outcomes as project aims:* George Por, Anthony Robinson and I had an 8pm London time call today Sunday 24th March 2013. The following outcomes emerged and became aims for this weeks project: - Social media: Use the #mw2013 #p2pWikisprint to send out our own tweets and also re-tweet via @CommoningSchool and @FoO_Collective. - Inspired team members please send useful resources to my email that can give useful insights & answers to the key questions asked in the sessions as set out in the schedule for the forum here: http://www.makingworlds.org/2nd-forum-on-the-commons/schedule/. - Useful resources can be found firstly as priority from the websites www.thefutureofoccupy.org, www.schoolofcommoning.com, and www.p2pfoundation.net helping us further this exercise. - Directly contributing to insights & answers to the questions asked in the sessions as set out in the forum schedule I will create tweets to showcase these resources before, during and after the event. - George also alerted us to Ron Suarez's message that mentioned the use of trello: https://trello.com/makingworlds. It doesn't look very active right now but I will monitor it over the course of the week and ask Ron how it will work with the event. I will keep you posted on this. - Blog post write up: by FoOs Anthony Robinson in a format to be decided, which could be: - Giving voice to participants sense of the event and its importance/implications, or - a blog post from Anthony, or - a combination of the two. - I will share the aims of the Future of Occupy team and invite the organizers and participants of Making Worlds to post about the conference on SoC and FoO websites. - If we don't yet know beforehand, Anthony will let all of us know about livestream when on the ground at the conference. Is there anything we should add, amend or take out from the above aims? Questions for potential collaborators *Dear Michel, * How can we best connect this project, serving its aims with the wikisprint and p2pfoundation? *Dear Dan and Stephen,* You mentioned via email that you are happy to connect later this week with me regarding this project. Which of the first two aims derived from the outcomes of the skype call inspire you most to engage with this FoO project? Or did you have other ideas you may want to bring to it? *Dear Mayo Fuster Morell,* Anthony Robinson will be on the ground at the event, will you be there? We would love to collaborate with you again following on from the first Making World's event! That is a great idea Anthony, I think it would be important at the level of solidarity we share with making worlds and our partnering with then earlier last year to demonstrate we are active especially for this exciting event and all it could trigger in NYC and other places.
The option for Skype on Sunday is open for me, let's wait to see what others in this email thread think.
Warm wishes to you my friend, Mark On Mar 20, 2013 2:08 PM, "Anthony Robinson" <[email protected]> wrote:
** Dear Mark & FoO,
Thanks for putting this out to us, Mark. I think you have raised a good question, "*How could we help individually and as a team*?". I've been pondering that individually, and I'm not sure yet how to answer it, but I know that I need to support this glowing Occupy-the-Commons ember, and I plan to attend the event both Friday and Saturday. Anybody else going?
How about skyping this weekend for anyone interested in brainstorming the possibility of some FoO presence at the event?
The info for the event is at, http://www.makingworlds.org/. (The schedule is on the page, http://www.makingworlds.org/forum-schedule/.) And this cool poster came with one of there emails that went out.
All the best, Anthony

Dear FoO team,
Although FoO has become a lot quieter nowadays there is no doubt scope for arranging FoO skype calls and organising collaborative actions via email. Sticking with email for now I wanted to mention the next Making World's forum at the end of the month. Susan Draper one of the organizers just posted on our FB page here<https://www.facebook.com/thefutureofoccupy/posts/437848176295319?comment_id=70804834¬if_t=share_comment> :
Besides inviting individuals, groups, organizations to be part of the conversation, we would like to also extend an invite to help us organize the event! The next meeting will be on Saturday March 16, 4pm, at the Wyoming Building, 5 E. 3rd Street (at Bowery), Manhattan, NY. We really need help promoting the event in the social networks, organizing childcare, and sending press releases. If you have ideas or would like to be part of this, email us [email protected] thanks!!!!!
How could we help individually and as a team?
I already began promoting it by posting on our website here<http://thefutureofoccupy.org/2013/03/making-worlds-2nd-forum-on-the-commons/>and sharing it with a few FB pages and twitter.
In solidarity, Mark
ps if you no longer wish to receive these emails just let me know in reply and I will take you out of future FoO correspondance.

Thought some of you may be interested in my latest bash at writing about DIWO culture... DIWO (Do-It-With-Others): Artistic co-creation as a decentralized method of peer empowerment in today’s multitude. By Marc Garrett http://s.shr.lc/14BjgJ1 Furtherfield originally created the term DIWO in 2006, to represent and reflect its own involvement in a series of grass root explorations. These critical engagements shift curatorial and thematic power away from top-down initiations into co-produced, networked artistic activities; it is now an international movement and it has grown into something much larger than we imagined. The practice of DIWO allows space for an openness where a rich mixing of components from different sources crossover and build a hybrid experience. It challenges and renegotiates the power roles between artists and curators. It brings all actors to the fore, artists become co-curators alongside the curators, and the curators themselves can also be co-creators. The ‘source’ materials are open to all; to remix, re-edit and redistribute, either within a particular DIWO event or project, or elsewhere. The process is as important as the outcome, forming relationally aware peer enactments. It is a living art, exploiting contemporary forms of digital and physical networks as a mode of open praxis, as in the Greek word for doing, and as in, doing it with others. This study investigates why these critically engaged activities were (and are) thought of as essential nourishment not only for ‘individual’ artists, but also as an effective form of artistic collaboration with others, and to a wider culture. It explores the differences between ‘collaborative’ trends initiated by established art (mainstream art) and design institutions, the creative industries, corporations, and independent projects. It examines the grey areas of creative (idea) control, the nuances of power exchange and what this means for independent thinking artists and collectives working within collaborative contexts, socially, culturally and ethically. It also asks, whether new forms of DIWO can act as an inclusive commons. Whereby it consists of methods and values relating to ethical and ecological processes, as part of its artistic co-creation; whilst maintaining its original intentions as a decentralized method of peer empowerment in today’s multitude? -----> Part of the SEAD Working Group on White Papers - assembled in response to the following two objectives from US NSF NEA workshops: a) The NSF NSEAD workshop at MICA suggested the development of White Papers for research and advocacy leading to a common platform (Beyond Productivity 2 report as a follow on to Beyond Productivity, the report issued by the US National Research Council and directed by William Mitchell); present at conferences 2012-13. http://seadnetwork.wordpress.com/about/
Hi all, I think this article may relate to some of the concepts of discussed on this list, wishing you well. marc Commodify Us: Our Data Our Terms. Article by Marc Garrett. Includes interview with Walter Langelaar http://www.furtherfield.org/features/reviews/commodify-us-our-data-our-terms Richard Stallman, the outspoken promoter for the Free Software movement proposes that we should all leave Facebook and either find or build our own alternatives. Commodify.Us provides a platform for users to regain control over the commercial exploitation of their personal data. Marc Garret discusses the importance of such alternative hacktivist structures for social independence. Commodify Inc. is an artist-run Internet startup producing projects to help individuals capitalize on their online monetary potential. Their intention is to correct the imbalance of power in markets where users have no control over the transactions made with their personal data. They have completed various artistic projects and interventions on social media like, Fame Game, Give Me My Data, and Web 2.0 Suicide Machine. The co-founders are Birgit Bachler, Walter Langelaar, Owen Mundy, Tim Schwartz, with additional contributors Joelle Dietrick and Steven Alvarado. Their new project Commodify.Us, was initiated when Owen Mundy and Tim Schwartz were invited by moddr_ to a residency in their lab in the summer of 2012 - when they were still a part of the WORM collective in Rotterdam. They worked on an initial idea that would succeed previous experiences of their already well-known and respected projects.
