Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. Re: [P2P-F] Singularity and Gender - 'The End of the Beginning'
by anna＠shsh.co.uk 06 Sep '15

My original intention in pointing out the lack of women contributors to this book was not to give rise to the game of 'tit for tat', in terms of equalising numbers of men and women, that is the direction the discussion seems to have taken. My comments were motivated by the fear that these essays, and I haven't read them, express the deep schism with nature and reality of the patriarchal and dominator culture in which we live, which is taking us towards self extermination. That the lack of women contributors could be, and it was a question, pointing to ignoring the part women need to play in shaping our future. Below Ted Goertzel writes: > >> Already today, >> gender is becoming a choice rather than something biologically determined, >> presumably that will be more so as technology improves. Will men be able to >> get surgery enabling them to get pregnant and give birth? Or will that >> function be taken over by incubators? Will we be able to have both male >> and female sexual organs, as some animals and plants do? I fear that technology is going in the direction of what is possible rather than what is desirable. And the thrill and excitement of wondrous achievements are disconnected from what it means to be truly ourselves, to feel whole and fulfilled. new text: Proposed_Strategy_for_the_Commons_Movement_in_2015

thanks for considering these proposals: also via http://p2pfoundation.net/Proposed_Strategy_for_the_Commons_Movement_in_2015 and next week on the blog: Michel Bauwens, Galway, August 31, 2015: "What do we need to work on NOW ? We are definitely going to a period of dislocation in 2015. The Greek debacle has shown the difficulty of any strategy based on national sovereignty and the end of political democracy for European nations ; the difficulties in China , Brazil and elswhere show the period of high growth for emerging economies has come to an end; and the success of candidates like Donald Trump, which obtains 40% approval rating by promising to deport fifteen million people, shows the potential return of barbarism in the heart of the over-developed world. Do we have any realistic perspective at change right now ? In the current conjuncture, there are still mass political mobilizations that seem to have potential, and we are thinking here about the emergence of social justice candidates in Spain (En Comu, Podemos), Corbyn in the UK and Sanders in the U.S. Our CommonsTransition.org initiative, led by Stacco Troncoso, aims at bringing commons and peer production alternatives to these movements, so as to avoid too strong focuses on statist solutions. However, the evolution in Greece should of course caution to any overt optimism, for example at the level of the real openness of such movements for commons and civic alternatives, as well as their true willingness to challenge the status quo. But I think the more long-term focus is to work on the civic-economic front, i.e. building alternative new modes of productions, new relations of production, and new property and governance models, right now, i.e. to 'hurry slowly' in rebuilding a true alternative base for different political and civic mobilizations. I have discussed elsewhere our political proposals , i.e. our proposals for the re-organization of emancipatory politics around the commons, through Assemblies and Chambers of the Commons, and our wish to see Commons Transition Circles. Here I would like to focus on the economic proposals. How do we create a new commons-oriented social fabric around the creation of livelihoods ? Three strategies come to mind: - a first level is the work that we need to do to create commons-centric entrepreneurial models, based or inspired by open cooperativism, i.e. models in which the commoners co-own and co-govern entrepreneurial forms that co-create commons. Come to mind the work of lasindias.com, a more collectivist form; the work of Enspiral, a coalition of 250+ social entrepreneurs working with the Loomio open source platform for democratic decision-making and the co-budget enterpreneurial commons for re-investement; and the Ethos Foundation led by Robert Pye, who is experimenting with fair forms of equity - the second level of work is to work on territirial economic eco-systems in which the flows of commons-created value becomes more integrated ; indeed, even as we are now able to return to more crafts-like form of ownership of the means of production, thanks to distributed manufacturing, the power of control still lies in the broader systems, not just in the mere ownership of 3D printing machines and microfactories; so the efforts like the one of Stephanie Rearick and team in the Mutual Aid Network in Madison, Wisconsin; mapping efforts like encommuns.org in Lille, and initiative like SolidarityNYC are very important at this state ; virtual efforts at more global organizing like the FairCoop project are also important. - the third level of work, where we still see very little happening, as far as I know, is at the level of platforms that would challenge the ownership, control and value extraction models of netarchical capitalism (Uber, AirBnB, Facebook) ; this is the necessary work of the creation of platform cooperatives, and the conference organized by Trebor Scholz and Nathan Schneider in New York in November, will be a good start to evaluate the state of the art. None of these three strategies, all of which have started but are very emergent, will solve urgent crisis, but they will set the stage for a more broader transition later on. I am personally convinced that progressive strategies for resistance and change, like the ones we saw in Greece, that have no serious commons component, are in a great danger of failure ; and we know that neoliberal forces will use nominal commons strategies in their strategy to destroy the solidarity mechanisms of the welfare state In our vision, i.e. the integration of the economic work of peer production, outlined just above, and the broader work of social and political re-organization around commons-centric institutions, which will set the stage for a rebirth of an offensive social and political movement that will have a good chance to promote a phase transition to a commons-centric political, social and economic society." -- Check out the Commons Transition Plan here at: http://commonstransition.org P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Commons Willi!! again, and why? > All this systems are on the way to underdevelopment. And Michel do not understand this. "level of platforms that would challenge the ownership, control and value extraction models of netarchical capitalism (Uber, AirBnB, Facebook)"? > > I do not know, in what environment Michel live. Now, because Orsan open the NetworkedLabour list also for me to write, i can discuss something. Maybe, Orsan is now a little bit angry with me and stopped my writing permission. Of course not a bit but feels like a red bull! First of all why you sound so obsessed with Michel? Do you have a good reason for the god, or aliens' sake? Secondly, you tell that Michel has no power to think himself and he always talk of what others does; why then you almost always end up talking about what Michel does and says? Please try to keep it on what you do and say, and don't undermine your stand, based on practice of p2p, as you claim? Also not destruct the space you try to struct from the beginning.. Otherwise.. Of course no more lists or community would bear divergent elements threatening communities survival for too long.. Isn't it like this with local communities too? Orsan

Now I am focusing on reaching Tom Steyer with the attached memorandum after it is improved by others. Certainly I welcome your suggestions for improving the memorandum without making it overly long. I am quite positive the way is open for an electoral reform intervention in the next 90 days, and the election of an independent bi-partisan ticket in 2016. I am less certain of the possibility of electing 20-30 new Members who refuse to caucus with the two-party tyranny. Twenty years of experience has taught me important lessons about them. One concerns the lack of scientific integrity of GMO risk assessments. Careful study of the documents shows that applicants (mostly companies) are gaming the system in numerous ways; at the same time, government regulators are allowing them to do so. None of this would matter if GMOs were inherently safe, but they are not. They even have dangers that are rarely discussed, even by their critics, but which should be more widely known. These two understandings have led me to conclude that no GMO currently on the market would pass an honest risk assessment, even by the rather low standards that most national regulations and laws require. Fwd: Posting too quickly

anyone having this issue as well ? Michel ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Bob Haugen <bob.haugen(a)gmail.com> Date: Sun, Aug 30, 2015 at 1:38 AM Subject: Posting too quickly To: Michel Bauwens <michel(a)p2pfoundation.net> Whenever I post a comment on the P2P Foundation blog (which is rarely), I get a complaint that I am posting comments too quickly. This will usually be the first time I have posted anything in many days. Then ~usually~ if I wait a bit, the comment is accepted. That complaint seems to be the default response to every comment I post. Is that true for everybody? Should be, because equipotentiality...;-) -- Check out the Commons Transition Plan here at: http://commonstransition.org P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Fwd: [Commoning] 800 Years of Commons: The Meaning of Magna Carta, Commons and Peer-to-Peer Production

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: David Bollier <david(a)bollier.org> Date: 2015-08-30 7:04 GMT+07:00 Subject: [Commoning] 800 Years of Commons: The Meaning of Magna Carta, Commons and Peer-to-Peer Production To: Commoning List <commoning(a)lists.wissensallmende.de> If you're in or near Berlin on September 8, please come to the public talk, "800 Years of Commons: The Meaning of Magna Carta, Commons, Peer-to-Peer Production and Their Legal Protection in Our Times." David Bollier and Michel Bauwens will both talk, followed by a discussion moderated by Silke Helfrich: a convening of the Commons Strategies Group. At the Heinrich Boell Foundation, Schumannstraße 8. September 8 from 19.00 to 21.00. More details in English and German below: *800 Years of Commons:* *The Meaning of Magna Carta, Commons, Peer-to-Peer-Production and Their Legal Protection in Our Times* This year, leaders of government, business and the bar are celebrating the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta, the landmark affirmation of individual rights and law as a check on the power of the king. What does the “Great Charter” mean today when two very different sorts of sovereigns, the nation state and transnational corporations, now govern “the King’s forests”? Two noted activists, David Bollier and Michel Bauwens of the Commons Strategies Group/P2P Foundation, will discuss the role of the commons and peer-to-peer production in meeting people’s needs and the many enclosures of the commons that are abridging their fundamental rights. The two talks will also describe a wide variety of legal innovations that commoners are inventing to fulfill the principles of Magna Carta and build a new socio-economic order by constituting new rules and norms for their common production, governance and property modalities. The event will be moderated by Silke Helfrich who, with the two speakers, is a member of the Commons Strategies Group. After the talks there will be time for discussion with participants and space to socialize over refreshments. Simultaneous translation English/German will be provided throughout the event. Registration is not required.
