Fwd: Will you help me finish my PhD?

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: urbanohumano <urbanohumano(a)gmail.com> Date: Mon, Oct 19, 2020 at 2:16 AM Subject: Will you help me finish my PhD? To: <michel(a)p2pfoundation.net> Hello, How are you? I hope this strange historical moment finds you in the best possible place and situation! Today I write to ask you for help (Don't worry this is not the typical SPAM mail that asks you for money hehe) If you have subscribed to my newsletter for some time, you will know that in 2006 I started a doctorate in town planning at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. I finished the first cycle of subjects in 2009 with a paper that has been downloaded 15,000 times <http://mail01.tinyletterapp.com/urbanohumano/will-you-help-me-finish-my-phd…> and I started to develop my doctoral thesis. I have been working on it for over 10 years and I am running out of time! December 16th is my last possible deadline! *I need your help. I do need your help!* The content is there, however I lack the references. I have found 101 statements that need to be supported by a quote or a reference. I don't think I could do it alone in such a short time. Will you help me find them? The thesis is focused on the processes of collective intelligence. Why not activate a process of collective intelligence to finish it? Why not transform a problem into an opportunity? So I launch this challenge. An experiment that could allow me to achieve what I would find difficult to achieve on my own, generating knowledge and an open methodology that could be useful for more people. How does it work? I have published 101 statements in a public document. Here is the link <http://mail01.tinyletterapp.com/urbanohumano/will-you-help-me-finish-my-phd…> . Each statement has a number. If you want to help, just choose one of the statements and add a comment. You can do this directly in the document, by sending an email or through the social networks by referring to the exact number of the quote. To facilitate the process I have divided the 101 statements into 7 categories. Every day I will publish the statements of one category. I will do it in my blog, in my newsletter, social networks! I will also organize some working sessions in videoconference. They will be short sessions of one hour, one for each of the 7 categories. If you want to participate, please fill in this form <http://mail01.tinyletterapp.com/urbanohumano/will-you-help-me-finish-my-phd…> . This is all. If perhaps this is not your field of action or research, I hope that at least soon I will be able to share the methodology of this action so that it can be useful to be applied in another context. I also thank you if you pass this message to other people who you think can help me. As always, I am looking forward to your comments and proposals, or simply to hear how you are doing. A big hug. D. Fwd: Rabbi Lerner & the Dalai Lama

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Rabbi Lerner <magazine(a)tikkun.org> Date: Sat, Oct 17, 2020 at 12:57 AM Subject: Rabbi Lerner & the Dalai Lama To: Michel Bauwens <michelsub2004(a)gmail.com> Rabbi Lerner & the Dalai Lama <https://default.salsalabs.org/Tb10bdfd5-a740-4451-ad72-b18e1fbca998/c02a818…> A note from Tikkun's Editor: I was humbled and honored to be invited by the Dalai Lama to speak on two panels with him several years ago, and now to be invited to speak at the Lion's Roar and Tibet House organized Dalai Lama Global Vision Summit. Other speakers you may know include: Sharon Salzberg, Robert Thurman, Serene Jones (president, Union Theological Seminary). Deepak Chopra, Mark Epstein, Dan Goleman, Robert Wright, Karenna Gore, and of course the Dalai Lama himself. The pre-recorded program (so you can listen without conflict on Shabbat), features a few of these speakers whom you can listen to at your leisure. It is FREE. https://learn.lionsroar.com/p/dalai-lama-summit-schedule/ <https://default.salsalabs.org/T9718e690-a76b-4ecb-8f19-57071e2ec815/c02a818…> I know I've learned much from listening to these and other Buddhist-inspired teachers, and I imagine that you might also. On Yom Kippur, I chant the beautiful message of our prophets: My house (Temple) shall be a house of prayer for all people (nations). I read (and pray this) as a respectful inter-faith call, since we are inviting others to offer their sacrifices and prayers, not as an attempt to convert them but to share their ideas and spiritual practices with us and we would share our spirituality with them. Imagine a world in which all the great religions extended a similar invitation to all religions and peoples. Well, that is part of what is happening with the summit, at least in intention if not in perfect actualization quite yet). The pre-recorded summit sessions will be presented online from Thursday, October 22 to Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Fwd: The Simpleton Manifesto

For America’s leading anti-feminist of the ’60s and ’70s, “Civilization progresses, freedom is won, and problems are solved because we have wonderful people who think up simple solutions.” Complexity was for the confused or the compromised. A growing number of Americans are again embracing this approach. Many on the resurgent far-left have joined the far-right in believing that the issues of the day could be overcome if only policymakers stopped tinkering at the edges of the system and adopted solutions that supposedly stare us in the face. Understanding the implications of this attitude is vital—now more than ever. In their 1970 classic *The Politics of Unreason*, the sociologists Seymour Lipset and Earl Raab coined a word for this black-and-white thinking: “simplism.” They defined it as “the unambiguous ascription of single causes and remedies for multifactored phenomena.” Reality was irrelevant to its advocates and strength of will was more important than attention to practicalities. For the simplist, “just *saying* the right thing, *believing *the right thing, is the substance of victory and remedy.” Schlafly epitomized this. “There is a very simple solution to what to do about the problem of world communism,” she once declared. “Just stop helping the Communists.” Lipset and Raab did not take their analysis of simplism far. As they saw it, simplism was only one aspect of political extremism—the concept was dealt with in only a few pages. But simplism has now moved from the fringes into the Oval Office and beyond. We are surrounded by good slogans for bad policies, from “Build the Wall” to “Abolish the Police.” At the extremes, both ends of the spectrum have given up workable solutions and returned to “single causes and remedies.” So what are some of the hallmarks of simplism? - *First, the solution is always clear and debate is unnecessary. * What do you do if “illegals” are supposedly crossing the southern border in droves? Build a wall. As Trump declared in an Oval Office address, “This is just common sense.” The claim of “common sense” was also a favorite of Trump’s senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, who used it to justify the conspiracy theory that “special interests want to bring in more low-skilled workers” to depress wages. Simplists refuse discussion because they believe—or want you to believe—that their positions are self-evident truths. - *Second, the opposition is stupid or evil. If they can’t accept your remedy, they must be too dim to understand or too malicious to comply.* In a speech calling for the border wall, Trump opted for the latter interpretation. After listing a number of Americans killed by illegal immigrants, he asked, “How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?” “This is a choice,” he concluded, “between right and wrong, justice and injustice.” - *Third, objecting means siding with the enemy. There can be no middle ground.* When some Republicans voted to block the president’s emergency declaration to build the wall, the Fox News pundit Tomi Lahren declared that such Republicans in the Senate “don’t want the wall any more than the Democrats. They just hide behind convenient, yet arguably BS, excuses.” “They have an R by their names,” she added, “but it might as well be a Christmas ornament; it means nothing.” For simplists, even occasional opposition is beyond the pale. - *Fourth, political norms do not matter. Simplist proposals are so legislatively and practically unworkable, they require bypassing rules. * It is no surprise that the wall—the paradigmatic simplist policy—is being built through gross executive overreach. Trump declared a state of emergency to pay for its construction, following the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, and then obtained funding by diverting money from the Pentagon. Riding roughshod over the rules is easier when you have the arrogance of the simplist. ------------------------------ The results of simplism are dismal. “Build the Wall” is a striking slogan to be shouted at rallies, but does nothing to address the issue of the 62% of undocumented migrants who remain in the United States by overstaying their work visas, rather than “entering without inspection.” The wall is also unlikely to stop those determined to take the old-fashioned route of slipping directly over the border: Cartels have already identified a power tool, sold at under $100, that can cut right through it. The whole thing has been nothing more than an $11 billion loyalty test. Indeed, because simplism refuses to contend with the real world, its more extreme forms deny the need to govern altogether. This has never been clearer than when this year’s Republican National Convention substituted all policy proposals with a commitment to “the President’s America First agenda.” At a time of national crisis, the GOP has given up trying. For simplists, the slogan *is* the platform. Simplism’s tendency to encourage polarization is just as insidious—if you slander naysayers as saboteurs and regard dissent as incomprehensible, no discussion can be had. Because simplists have the loudest voices and catchiest slogans, entire parties can become associated with ideals that those parties may not even support. Even as Democrats from Sanders to Biden have rejected calls to “defund the police,” Republican strategists have leapt at the chance to paint their opponents as radicals. It is unsurprising that so many Americans have stopped talking to the other side. A recent Pew Research poll <https://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJwlkcmOwyAMhp-m3IiALCUHDnOZ14gIOAlqAoilmb…> found that only 3% of Trump and Biden voters reported having a lot of friends who supported the other candidate. Around 40% said they had none. Simplism recognizes only two categories: friend or foe. Perhaps the greatest danger is that simplism feasts on its failures. Its ineffective policies will not solve America’s problems, so calls for radical action will intensify. In this mood of crisis, norms are obstacles rather than boundaries. Politics becomes two unshakeable poles, which paralyzes Congress and halts the passage of policy fixes. As long as simplism reigns, America’s problems will worsen—and so the process will repeat itself. Lipset and Raab had the good fortune to live in an age when simplism remained a sign of fringe extremists. Today, it has myriad adherents on left and right—with the president of the United States as the simplist-in-chief. *Nathaniel Rachman is a recent history graduate from the University of Oxford, where he edited **The Oxford Student**.* <https://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJxFUttymzAQ_RrzFkYSVz_oIbHjFMem09Zx47wwui…> <https://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJxFUk2TojAQ_TVyk8oHIBw4zK5OLa5iOeO444mC0G…> <https://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJxFksuSojAUhp8GdlK5cHPBome0a3C8lD22064oCA…> You’re on the free list for Persuasion <https://email.mg2.substack.com/c/eJxFUEluhTAMPQ1ZojgfPmGRRTe9BsrgQFQIUYZSbt…>. Fwd: Invitation to the Protopia Lab: Starting a New Conversation
by Michel Bauwens 12 Oct '20

12 Oct '20

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Smart CSOs Lab <do-not-reply(a)smart-csos.org> Date: Mon, Oct 12, 2020 at 5:34 PM Subject: Invitation to the Protopia Lab: Starting a New Conversation To: <michel(a)p2pfoundation.net> Our new project is a space to address polarisation in society, pave the way for global cooperation, and upgrade our civilisation before it's too late. View this email in your browser <https://mailchi.mp/7e9937f1fafd/the-protopia-lab-website-launch-3315986?e=3…> <https://smart-csos.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5cf566bc194b8a0b681cee…> October 2020 Dear Michel, Are you worried about the spiral of polarisation in our societies, and the dysfunctional public conversation around our most pressing issues? Do you have the sense that we are increasingly living in very different realities and ideological bubbles that prevent us from solving problems together? We believe the time has come to break out of our echo chambers, start a fresh and undogmatic conversation about how we can cooperate effectively and upgrade our civilisation to help prevent its collapse. If these topics speak to you, consider joining the Protopia Lab <https://smart-csos.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5cf566bc194b8a0b681cee…>. We are delighted to finally announce that we are hosting our first workshop (via Zoom) with an initial group of pioneers on Friday, 27 November 2020 from 2pm to 7pm CET. This will be followed by two follow-up sessions (also via Zoom) on 11 December and 15 January. What to Expect [image: The Protopia Lab logo] The Protopia Lab was inspired by the idea that we can only tackle the biggest problems of our times, including climate change, if we can stop the spiralling polarisation across our societies. Only a deep and empathic understanding of the dynamics that led us to our current societal divide will allow us to lay the foundations for renewed trust, and a new social contract. However, this isn’t just something we can do by talking or theorising. We also have to learn how to have conversations with those who hold different values to us – whether in our organisations or in day-to-day life. That’s why we’ve designed this workshop to be *experiential, exploratory and experimental*. You will learn about the neuroscience, psychology and physiology of polarisation. We’ll explore which models and cultural frameworks can help us make sense of the complex ideological realities that lead to polarisation. Through group conversations, mindfulness practices and simple mediation processes, you will leave with a greater awareness of your own cognitive biases and build your capacity for seeing issues from multiple perspectives. How to Join We would like to hear from activists and other change agents who deeply care about workable strategies for tackling the climate crisis and believe that we need to think polarisation and ecological transition together. We especially encourage people with *non-orthodox* perspectives and curious minds to join. If you would like to apply to participate, please take 10 minutes of your time to fill in this questionnaire <https://smart-csos.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5cf566bc194b8a0b681cee…> *by 23 October*. We would like to make this the most enjoyable and useful experience for everyone and would therefore like to know about your motivations and interest in this project. We will select a group of up to 25 participants and confirm participation by 1 November. You are requested to commit to full participation during all three sessions. The process - Main workshop on *Friday, 27 November from 2pm to 7pm CET* - Approx. 2 hours of reading to complete for the next session - Follow-up session 1 on *Friday, 11 December from 3pm to 5pm CET* - Approx. 2 hours of reading to complete for the next session - Follow-up session 2 on *Friday, 15 January from 3pm to 5pm CET* For this project, we are grateful to partner with and receive financial support from European Youth Forum <https://smart-csos.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5cf566bc194b8a0b681cee…>. We will ask confirmed participants to make a small voluntary donation to help cover the remaining costs. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this invitation with people who might be interested, and especially with people who might bring along fresh perspectives and diverse viewpoints. If you have questions about the project, please contact Micha <michael(a)smart-csos.org>. This raises several concerns on ever-deteriorating labour rights and conditions, endangered decent income, access to social rights, and collective representation. Since the industrial revolution, worker-owned cooperatives respond to people’s needs to guarantee their employment. Many non-standard workers such as own-account workers, freelancers, and platform workers use the cooperative solutions to achieve more quality, job security, often access to social protection, and dignity in their work lives. In the last months, the COVID-19 pandemic showed that the recognition of non-standard workers, including platform workers, remains a challenge in national and European labour regulations, leaving workers vulnerable and making fitting policies complicated to obtain. The failure to adapt national and European labour legislation to cover non-standard workers worsened the impact of the current crisis, putting workers incomes and livelihoods at risk. Following the publication of the ALL FOR ONE report <https://cecop.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=3a463471cd0a9c6cf744bf5f8&i…>, CECOP’s ALL FOR ONE online conference will look at what the “cooperative laboratory” across Europe came up with in order to face the adverse effects of non-standard employment. Originally planned as a live conference, our online conference will be the cherry on top of a month-long communication campaign, in which we will highlight different aspects of the report through social media channels and distribution lists. *Everyday forefront defenders of fair and quality work conditions for all workers, CECOP invites you to meet these new cooperatives who unite workers, and mutualise risks and solidarity. * Join us on December 3rd online from wherever you are for this one of a kind event! Fwd: Futurized - Cultured meat & Behavioral science in product design
by Michel Bauwens 09 Oct '20

09 Oct '20

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Trond Arne Undheim <info(a)yegii.com> Date: Thu, Oct 8, 2020 at 11:42 PM Subject: Futurized - Cultured meat & Behavioral science in product design To: Michel Bauwens <michelsub2004(a)gmail.com> [image: Futurized podcast - preparing you to deal with future disruption] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-r/> *Hi Michel. * This week, Futurized tackles cultured meat as well as behavioral science in product design in two exciting interview episodes: - David Brandes, Managing Director and co-founder of Peace of Meat. - Matt Wallaert, behavioral scientist and author of *Start At The End: How To Build Products that Create Change*. -- FUTURIZED FROM DUBAI This week, my prep for the only foreign trip of this year is moving into high gear. Futurized will be reporting live from Dubai’s 12th Global Family Office Investment Summit 26-28 October 2020 <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-y/> (Ritossa Summits). This will enable Futurized's partners to reach new audiences, bringing the latest thinking on the next decade to the family office investment space and sharing that community's vision of the future to thought leaders in tech, government, and nonprofits that are already part of Futurized's reach. *Strict COVID-19 protocols will be observed, all entrants into UAE are tested, Emirates even demands a test to board the flight, and I hope to do most podcast recordings outside! As it turns out, with professional microphones you can record good audio through masks.* -- GUEST WISH LIST Here is the current podcast guest wish list I'm looking for intros to make happen over the next year. I'd really like to chat with Barack Obama, Elon Musk, Tim Berners-Lee, Mary Meeker, Jeffrey Li (Tencent), Eric Topol, Mark Cuban, Andrew Lo, and Sir James Dyson. Also, do you know any Fortune 500 CEOs, heads of international NGOs, or unicorn startup founders? Whilst I'm connected to some of them through LinkedIn already, if anybody knows such public figures (or others I should have thought of) and are willing to go out on a limb with a warm intro, I'd be extremely thankful. Also, please consider forwarding this email to a colleague you care about or somebody who should be a guest on Futurized. For every lead I get, I'll either send you a free book or donate $20 to charity, whichever you prefer. If you like the show, subscribe to Futurized in Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio or Pandora, review it with a sentence, and ideally give it a 5 star rating. Have a great day! Trond Arne Undheim, Ph.D. Author of *Pandemic Aftermath* (2020), *Disruption Games (2020), Leadership >From Below (2008) and Future Tech (2021, forthcoming). See Trond's books <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-j/>.* [image: The Future of Cultured Meat] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-t/> In episode #36, The Future of Cultured Meat <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-i/>, futurist Trond Arne Undheim <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-d/> interviews David Brandes, Managing Director and co-founder of Peace of Meat. In this conversation, they talk about the technology of cell-based, cultured meat, the sustainability benefits of removing animals from food production, consumer trust, regulatory forces, disruption, and the future of food tech. The takeaway is that cultured meat is here to stay, although it’s introduction will take time and will vary depending on tech innovation speed, regulatory attitudes and consumer trust. COVID-19 has brought about a renewed discussion about food safety and worker safety—lab grown meat does not seem as far fetched as it once did. Listen to Episode #36 <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-h/> [image: Listen on Apple Podcasts] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-k/> [image: Behavioral Science in Product Design] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-u/> In episode #34, Behavioral Science in Product Design <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-o/>, futurist Trond Arne Undheim interviews Matt Wallaert, behavioral scientist and author of Start At The End: How To Build Products that Create Change. In this conversation, they talk about how the field of product design has evolved, the value of experimentation, discovery of cutting edge products, who does it well, corporations and startups, and how the future of product design is steeped in science. The takeaway is that behavioral science should be an obligatory part of product design and it cannot be an afterthought. Right now, most companies are overweight on data scientists and underweight on behavioral scientists, even though they are both needed in equal measure for a product to succeed. Listen to Episode #34 <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-b/> [image: Listen on Spotify] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-n/> [image: Listen on Google Podcasts] <https://yegiiinc.cmail20.com/t/d-l-ctidjhy-jliiuhlhf-p/> *About Futurized* Futurized goes beneath the trends, tracking the underlying forces of disruption in tech, policy, business models, social dynamics, and the environment. Join Trond Arne Undheim, futurist, author, and serial entrepreneur as he tracks the societal impact of deep tech such as AI, blockchain, IoT, life science and robotics. On the show, he interviews smart people with a soul: founders, authors, executives, and emerging thought leaders. Each episode is a narrative journey marked by triumphs, failures, serendipity and insight — told by the people behind some of the world’s top emerging and established talent. Long-time *Kosmos* readers are already well-informed about the polycrisis. Some are experiencing loss directly – loss of loved ones, homes, health and livelihoods – some ‘indirectly’, through a growing awareness of planetary suffering and the loss of civility and trust. All these impacts are felt in the collective body, as uncertainty, fear and grief. The polycrisis has been called a profound global *initiation, *that can lead to new insight and transformation. In order for a human future to be possible, we will need to accept difficult lessons, commit to new ways of being, and work diligently to restore the conditions for Life to flourish. The archetype of the Visionary, grounded in love and wisdom is called for now. A wise visionary understands the challenges and knows that some dreams can’t be accomplished in a single lifetime. Yet, the visionary spirit is co-creative, intelligent and optimistic. Resilience is rooted in vision. *We invite you to give voice to the visionary spirit deep within you. How are you creating sense from this evolutionary moment? How are you beginning to transition and transform?* *READ MORE* <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…> *Deadline: November 15, 2020 * *GO TO OUR SUBMISSION GUIDELINES <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…>* *Kosmos* Autumn 2020 Gallery of Poets *Read selections by Cynthia Anderson, Lawrence Cohen, John Laue, and Rebecca Smolen. When wildfire scorches your skin, you heal and keep going. Your intention protects you like an amulet – you push upward according to plan, knuckled base nestled against earth like a fist. You follow the ways of a shaman, transmuting air, rock, soil, water. Your stamina could build a world from ice. You have no quarrel with the sun, or with anyone – radiating light from trunk to crown, stretching taller until one day, gravity takes you down. Then, you commend your body to the ground among seeds already sown and sprouting, no effort wasted, birds and stars sounding your name. Cynthia Anderson lives in the Mojave Desert near Joshua Tree National Park. A Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, she has published nine poetry collections, most recently *Now Voyager *with illustrations by Susan Abbott. They occur like phantoms, grow, and then are gone. There’s no apparent cause: no rocks or raindrops break the surface tension, no bubbles from the bottom, neither koi nor water skaters, only sky-lit circles that arise from calm, subside to calm again. We leave the place with no more answers than we had before, but more aware of mysteries, more inclined to let things be. John Laue, teacher/counselor, is a former editor of *Transfer*, *San Francisco Review*, and *Monterey Poetry Review*. He has won awards for his writing beginning with the Ina Coolbrith Poetry Prize at The University of California, Berkeley. With five published poetry books, the last *A Confluence of Voices Revisited* (Futurecycle Press), and a book of prose advice for people with psychiatric diagnoses, he presently coordinates the reading series of The Monterey Bay Poetry Consortium. *READ MORE AUTUMN POETRY AT KOSMOS* <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…> FULL ARTICLE | New Cosmology An Evolutionary Transition Is Coming—Are You Ready? By Robert Cobbold *“This is the greatest discovery of the scientific enterprise: You take hydrogen gas, and you leave it alone, and it turns into rosebushes, giraffes, and humans.”* The famous line from cosmologist Brian Swimme is striking because it transcends the frameworks and categories which we place over the continuum of life and reveals that, when all is said and done, the universe is not a noun, but a verb: a single miraculous process of becoming. People find it hard to conceptualise cosmological, biological, and cultural evolution as one process. But when we take the tightly compartmentalised domains of scientific knowledge, bundle them together, roll them out like pastry, and take a big step back, a few patterns and trajectories, which are consistent throughout all those successive levels of evolution—from the Big Bang to the present moment—immediately become visible. For one—the universe started in absolute simplicity and has evolved toward complexity. From hydrogen, atoms formed the heavier elements; from atoms emerged molecules; from simple prokaryote cells came more complex eukaryote cells; from eukaryote cells came multicellular organisms. Another—as evolution has progressed, the scales of cooperative organisation have got larger. When life first emerged on this planet, it was at the scale of a millionth of a metre. But single-celled organisms cooperated to form multicellular organisms, and multicellular organisms cooperated to form groups of multicellular organisms such as shoals of fish, beehives, and packs of dogs. The trajectory was recapitulated in human evolution—bands cooperated to form tribes, tribes to form chieftainships, chieftainships to form city states, and city states to form modern nation states. In global economic trade, although not yet in politics <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…>, cooperation now spans the entire planet. But it’s the third trajectory which is most interesting for those who study change: evolutionary change is not linear, but *telescopic*. Evolution is, itself, evolving, acquiring new creative capacities, and accelerating. *Put more simply, evolution is getting better at evolving.* *READ MORE AT KOSMOS* <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…> The Rebirth of People and Planet in a Time of Global Emergency *Image by ejaugsburg on Pixabay* *An Open Letter from the Spiritual Emergence(y) Community* Via Dr. Kylie Harris, on Medium <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…> Spiritual emergence/emergency — SE(Y) — refers to a continuum of experiences representing an unfolding, or *awakening*, of consciousness. These experiences represent an opportunity for growth and transformation but are often chaotic and overwhelming, and potentially (mis)diagnosed as mental illness. The SE(Y) community consists of individuals who have experienced varying degrees of mental health challenges in relation to a process of awakening, along with their advocates and supporters. This community includes academics, writers, mental health professionals, activists, artists, and members of the general population. Grassroots programs have evolved into a social movement that is struggling to keep up with the demands of the public. This community is inclusive and welcomes anyone who wishes to join us. The world’s leading climate scientists now state that there is scientific support for declaring a state of planetary emergency <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…>. In this open letter, we propose that a planetary crisis represents a global spiritual emergency, and is a catalyst for a global awakening. As humanity faces the existential threat of the climate emergency, the SE(Y) community is uniting in a collaborative effort, as individuals who understand the process of awakening through crisis. We are offering our assistance in guiding humanity into a new paradigm, in order to co-create and help birth a *New Story*. *READ MORE* <https://kosmosjournal.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=a2e6f01f29f00e615c1…> *Kosmos operates 'in the Gift'.
