Fw: Good news: group of G20 countries back Robin Hood Tax
by robert searle 05 Nov '11

----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Robin Hood Tax Campaign <donotreply(a)robinhoodtax.org.uk> To: dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk Sent: Friday, 4 November 2011, 15:01 Subject: Good news: group of G20 countries back Robin Hood Tax View email in browser Dear Supporter, Group of G20 countries agree to back Robin Hood Tax At the G20 this week, a growing group of G20 countries from France to Brazil backed the Robin Hood Tax, and the link between the Robin Hood Tax and fighting poverty and climate change became clearer than ever. Momentum is building and leaders like David Cameron who opposed the tax have been left looking increasingly isolated. This happened because millions of people like you forced the Robin Hood Tax to the top of the political agenda. But it doesn't end here. Far from it. David Cameron remains one of the key blockers in the international process, so it's vital we keep up the pressure on the UK government ahead of EU talks next week and UN climate talks in South Africa in December. And here in the UK, as the economy fails to pick up and cuts to public services continue to hit ordinary people, we need to keep the pressure on Cameron - this is Plan B. We are now part of a movement of millions. From church services in St. Paul's to nurses on Wall Street, people everywhere are saying enough is enough. A Robin Hood Tax remains the best option on the table to start making the financial sector work for people, not just for profit. Ideas this good don't come along every day. And when they do, they're too powerful to ignore. Read more >> Read more >> We've come so far... In the past 18 months, the Robin Hood Tax has conquered the globe. Today, 1,000 economists are with us. Governments - including France and Germany - are with us. Desmond Tutu and the Vatican are with us. Bill Gates is with us. Millions of people around the world are with us. And the momentum is with us too. If you need reminding just why a Robin Hood Tax is so important, watch Bill Nighy talking about his support for the campaign. Don't doubt it. This brilliant idea is on the verge of becoming a brilliant reality. There's no going back from here. Bill Black on the Real News Network on His Three Big, Simple Demands

Saturday, November 5, 2011Bill Black on the Real News Network on His Three Big, Simple Demands It is interesting to see how the popular desire for Occupy Wall Street to issue demands is leading various pundits and experts to boil down and update their views on what really needs to be done to fix the financial and political systems. (Note we are of the minority view that OWS is being shrewd in not acceding to pressure to reduce its desire for broad-based change to sound bites and an easily-to-digest program. Bill Black give his usual forthright views on this segment on Real News Network. Fwd: "NO to ACTA!" Video!
by Dante-Gabryell Monson 04 Nov '11

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: La Quadrature du Net <jz(a)laquadrature.net> Date: Fri, Nov 4, 2011 at 12:06 PM Subject: [fcf_discussion] Over 1 Million Views for "NO to ACTA!" Video! Now, take Action! To: fcforum_discussion(a)list.fcforum.net La Quadrature du Net - For immediate release Permanent link: http://www.laquadrature.net/en/over-1-million-views-for-no-to-acta-video-no… Over 1 Million Views for "NO to ACTA!" Video! Now, take Action! *** Paris, 04 November 2011 — “NO to ACTA!”, the video published by La Quadrature du Net last week, has been viewed more than one million times. It has become the top rated and most viewed this week in Youtube's “News & Politics” section. Such an impressive welcome illustrates how crucial of a responsibility lies between the hands of the Members of the European Parliament with their upcoming vote on ACTA. It is also an encouraging step towards defeating this dangerous agreement —an effort requiring a broad mobilization among citizens. *** With more than 1 million views in less than one week (600k on Youtube and almost 500k on La Quadrature du Net's mediakit), the “NO to ACTA!” video became an instant hit: #1 Top Rated, #1 Most Viewed, #2 Top Favorited and #5 most Discussed this week on Youtube's “News and Politics” section! It also reached #52 Most Viewed and #87 Top Rated this week for the whole of Youtube! “Such impressive figures and honours reveal profound interest from citizens in protecting their freedoms online against illegitimate and anti-democratic attacks driven by governments. Members of the European Parliament cannot ignore the critical impact of ACTA on our lives and on a Free Internet. We must make them understand that it is their duty to protect us against ACTA by rejecting it through their upcoming consent vote", says Jérémie Zimmermann, co-founder and spokesperson of the citizen advocacy group La Quadrature du Net. Several procedural steps are ahead [1], before the final consent vote. Members of the European Parliament have an historical occasion of ultimately defeating ACTA, sometime in early 2012 [2]. Every citizen is encouraged to take action and participate to this effort. “If everyone who watched this video sends a letter or makes a phonecall to the Members of the European Parliament, we would win against ACTA. But there are many ways of taking action: informing about ACTA by spreading the video and analysis, building information material, contacting our elected representatives, etc. Our imagination and our energy will make the difference.”, concluded Zimmermann. *** La Quadrature du Net published a wiki guide "How to Act against ACTA" that is constantly updated. Citizens can already start contacting the Members of the EU Parliament “International Trade” (INTA) committee, as well as other committees (JURI, LIBE, ITRE, DEVE) working on ACTA in the European Parliament. *** * References * 1. The International Trade (INTA) Committee of the European Parliament is the main committee working on ACTA. The legal affairs (JURI) and Development (DEVE) committees, as well as the Civil Liberties (LIBE), Industry (ITRE) committees will first vote on their opinions. The latter will be sent to INTA to influence its final report. See ACTA's procedure file (which still needs to be updated with LIBE and ITRE opinions): http://www.europarl.europa.eu/oeil/file.jsp?id=5924982 2. Exact date is still unclear, the earliest possibility seems to be mid-January ** About la Quadrature du Net ** La Quadrature du Net is an advocacy group that promotes the rights and freedoms of citizens on the Internet. More specifically, it advocates for the adaptation of French and European legislations to respect the founding principles of the Internet, most notably the free circulation of knowledge. In addition to its advocacy work, the group also aims to foster a better understanding of legislative processes among citizens. Through specific and pertinent information and tools, La Quadrature du Net hopes to encourage citizens' participation in the public debate on rights and freedoms in the digital age. La Quadrature du Net is supported by French, European and international NGOs including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Open Society Institute and Privacy International. What are (Y)our Priorities in co-creating Shared Living Systems?
by Dante-Gabryell Monson 04 Nov '11

Hi Devin, and all, Thanks for your reply https://lists.ourproject.org/pipermail/p2p-foundation/2011-November/004291.… You say "How about the occupation management game - or the DIY ecovillage game..." * * Yes, I like this take. An attempt to collaborate in this direction : http://sharewiki.org/en/Emergent_Synthesis If interested, feel free to list yourself, or list projects you know. Within the next months, I wish to find solutions for a more attractive platform, inviting people to participate and create their profiles. // *What priorities do you see* ? What are you currently focusing on ? What do you want to work on together ? Modular tent designs ? Legal and financial configurations ? Real time / Stigmergy tools ? ( https://lists.ourproject.org/pipermail/p2p-foundation/2011-October/003943.h… ) ... ... ... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dante-Gabryell Monson <dante.monson(a)gmail.com> Date: Thu, Nov 3, 2011 at 1:13 PM Subject: What are (Y)our Priorities in co-creating Shared Living Systems? To: *I wish to provide an experimental ground for our interests,* *and learn together by creating more autonomous, self organizing, emergent, local yet globally networked* *viable systems*. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viable_system_model ) Feel free to share with other groups / mailinglists, mutually facilitating design theory solutions for "Emergent Synthesis". * * *I wish to ask for feedback,* *and converge such feedback on a specifically allocated wiki* / website / or drupal platform, for which support is also needed. for now - *feel free to add your name and contact here ( or send me an email ) :* http://sharewiki.org/en/Emergent_Synthesis Various groups and mailing lists already exist. Feel free to share url's to projects, mailinglists, or the location of informal groups of people and possibly the name/nickname of such groupings ( and their contact ) on the emergent synthesis page. Priorities can go into *providing visibility towards solutions for shared living experiences* ( such as meetings, collectives, living spaces - static and/or nomadic - ... ) // I wish to find an easy way to converge such data about people's pledges, and visualize a "value network" map of inter-dependencies. I also wish to find people who feel enthusiastic about translating the following message into a more attractive way. ( asking for any inspiration and contributions from people who write, draw - comics ? - , can produce short videos, ... ) /// How do you position yourself in relation to defining and building up a viable systems project ? I propose, as a test for further projects all over the world, to *use Leipzig / Leipzig Projects* *as an experiment.* http://sharewiki.org/en/Leipzig_project The aim is to inspire and engage people to collaborate, progressively providing a sense of shared , visible accomplishment. and at first, to draft/define aims and needs, *set up a list of priorities* * * /// Based on your own interests, where would you like to position your contributions if you like to contribute to such visions, and what do you need to collaborate in specific objectives, which themselves can fit within such larger picture ? If I create a map ( or if I map it out on a wiki ), would you be willing to be included into it, and what information can you provide? : availability, sweat equity contribution capability and its needs or conditions, current geographical situation or potential future situation, financial support and its conditions, other available resources and/or existing networked collaborations working on specific topics ( ? ) , ... /// General Description : It can ask pledges ( http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/pledge ) , in the form of engagements and equity / sweat equity ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweat_equity ) , even short term - measurable, combined with subjective mutual interdependent objectives based evaluations. This includes : - people collaborating on various tasks on the terrain ( Leipzig , and surrounding land ), - people collaborating in their respective regions to converge engagements and further needed resources ( answers to specific questions : legal, financial, architectural, etc ) - alternative financial products, which are set into the commons ( using this commons crowdfunding mechanism ? http://www.goteo.org/?lang=en ) in exchange of long term measurable use value. - such recognition and/or use value related guarantees can also be earned through participation. //// Interdependent Priorities : For Collective Housing / Development Phase : 1a) Individuals in support of communication : drawings, leaflets, wiki-drupal-net platform, ... expressing a general vision, setting up tools for easily converging needed data, tools for coordinating pledges, mapping resources-questions-needs-contributions-interdependencies, ... 1) Setting up a centrally located base/aggregator in Leipzig which is comfortable to live in, and big enough to enable each individual to self organize in their own space, based on their affinity/relation/collaboration preferences, with defined temporary collectives. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective ) 2) Supporting the development of "decentralized" bases in and around Leipzig, and all over the world, through proposing *modular living structures*, light weight, inexpensive , locally producible, co-developing open source research and development with a open copyleft / hardware license. aka : *Tensegrity Tents, with components that enable parametric design*. see : http://sharewiki.org/en/Nomad_Tribe 3) Have a collective intelligence aggregator / team of people supporting each other in the definition of "code" and "legal solutions", itself supporting "financial solutions", in transparency of interdependencies of the "Value Networks" ( ? ) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value_network For example : - set up of a not for profit organization in Germany for converging local support towards defining and building a viable system regionally. ( in Berlin and/or Leipzig ? ) - set up of a international not for profit organization in support of open source collaborative design of modular living structures ( in Brussels ) - set up of a Limited Liability Partnership structure ( in the UK - London ) for investment purposes. - defining a combination of legal structures , as to enable a commons, interdependent oriented approach regarding ownership, such as separating land from buildings, studying various existing legal models such as Mietshauser Syndikat ( combination of cooperative, corporation and not for profit ? ) , ... - *definitions of contracts* ( access to use value, visibility of contributions and recognition within gift economy, managing investments of capital in support of commons, conditions of usage and/or property holders, conditions related to usage of regional economic IOU's and their architecture, etc ) 4) Set up recognition by means of measurement based on objectives 5) use web based solutions in development ? "Global Survival" collaborations with tools including Netention , ... : visualize current or future intentions, visualize interdependencies, visualize pledge future contributions, present contributions, past contributions, ... 6) reach out to organizations and movements who may benefit from a similar approach thanks !
