To: socialfinance-ecosystem(a)googlegroups.com Cc: openkollab(a)googlegroups.com, cc-pms(a)googlegroups.com, Cooperationcommons(a)googlegroups.com Dear Social Finance Ecosystem, <http://goog_1192541341> Since Venessa Miemis has beaten me to the punch ;-)... it is only appropriate to now introduce you to ProM<http://www.slideshare.net/sureshf/pro-m-draftreview0308111>, a dating site for the climate action movement! A distributed team of visionaries, change agents, technologists and, most importantly, those that see the imperative need to develop infrastructure and processes to assist climate change organizations to coordinate their activity, have converged on the development of a project that will take mass collaboration to the next level! * What makes our vision unique is that we are developing matching algorithms and protocols that will connect projects in the same way that personal dating sites make recommendations for people that you should connect with!* In order to accomplish this, we are developing a platform (technology infrastructure, collaboration and Convergence Processes<http://etherpad.openstewardship.net/ConvergenceProcess>) that will enable and assist organizations to converge and align their activity and processes around specific Open Projects<http://cotw.cc/wiki/Open_Project>(and closed ones of course as well). * * - *The details can be found in the attached slide deck (draft being iterated!) which you can also link to here<http://www.slideshare.net/sureshf/pro-m-draftreview0308111> .* - *The current status of the project is published here<http://cotw.cc/wiki/Project_Matching> .* - *We run the project through this open Google Group<http://goog_1192541404> . <https://groups.google.com/group/cc-pms?hl=en> If you want greater visibility into our activity, feel free to join!* The ProM team is both developing technology to enable collaboration as well as living our vision by creating a framework and infrastructure that allows us to crowdsource the resource requirements for the project. * We are pioneering the way that open projects of the future will be run!* As Venessa mentioned, we will be presenting ProM<http://www.slideshare.net/sureshf/pro-m-draftreview0308111>at the Contact Conference <http://www.contactcon.com/> in NY on Oct. 20th. We look forward to discussing this further with you in advance of this date in order to explore areas of potential collaboration! Last but not least, the Social Finance Ecosystem Google Group<https://groups.google.com/group/socialfinance-ecosystem?hl=en>has been set up to foster a spirit of open collaboration amongst those that are building capacity to support social innovators! Here is the list of represented organizations<https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1vdpwOB47o83G6BAdyMMWaESzMF93TXm7_o…>! We encourage you to invite your best and brightest to this group! Hate Crime Against Rabbi Lerner: 3rd Attack on His Home
by Michel Bauwens 17 Mar '11

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Tikkun <magazine(a)tikkun.org> Date: Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 12:20 AM Subject: Zionist Extremist Hate Crime Against Rabbi Lerner: 3rd Attack on His Home To: Michelsub2004(a)gmail.com *Zionist Extremist Hate Crime Against Rabbi Lerner: 3rd Attack on His Home and the limits of "freedom of the press"* 3/17/2011, Berkeley, California Only one day after Rabbi Lerner presented the Tikkun Award to South African Justice Richard Goldstone, at a celebration of Tikkun's 25th Anniversary attended by over 600 people at the University of California, Berkeley, Rabbi Lerner's home was again assaulted by extremist Zionist haters who plastered posters over his home once again. This is the 3rd assault on his home since Lerner announced the award to Justice Goldstone whose report on Israel's human rights violations during the Israeli assault on Gaza in Dec. 2008 and Jan.2009 was denounced by the State of Israel and by the AIPAC-dominated House of Representatives last year. You would not have known about the 2nd attack, which was reported to the police but not to the media because Lerner had been advised that not giving the attackers attention might make future attacks less likely. That strategy failed. Each time the posters have sought to display Lerner as either a tool of an evil Goldstone trying to hurt Israel. The current posters were done more professionally than the previous ones, and present a picture of Nazi officers carrying away a Jew. Lerner's name is put on one of the Nazis and "Islamic extremists" is written on the other Nazi, and the innocent Jew is identified as the State of Israel. The perspective of the attackers is clear: "Rabbi Lerner is a Nazi assaulting Israel." That is why the police have labeled this a "hate crime." What "freedom of the press" is there if an editor is subject to this kind of personal harrassment for expressing his views in his editorials and in the gatherings sponsored by the magazine? Anyone concerned about civil liberties should be concerned about this pattern of attacks on the private home of a magazine editor. And for those who believe that there is a new tone of civility in the Jewish world, well....it obviously has not impacted on right wing Zionist extremists. Please note, however, that we do not want to imply in any way that all Zionists are responsible directly or indirectly for this attack. The Zionist community in the U.S., while often demeaning Rabbi Lerner, has not shown any tendency toward violence or physical assaults on his person or property, and in our view would not likely do so. These have been the acts of a small group of extremists, and while the demeaning of Rabbi Lerner and Tikkun may have contributed to the climate in which these extremists believed they could get away with these assaults, there is no reason to believe, and we do not believe, that American Zionists as a whole either intended or approve of this kind of activity. And the Board of Rabbis of Northern California publicly critiqued the last attack on Rabbi Lerner's home as did other Jewish leaders. Assaults on free speech are best met by encouraging more speech. The obvious goal of these attacks is to intimidate and silence Tikkun, and since Tikkun is the largest circulation liberal/progressive Jewish magazine on-line and in print in the entire world, silencing Tikkun would be a huge victory for these extremists. People can assure that Tikkun stays alive by subscribing to Tikkun at www.tikkun.org<http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=UCFa1XQl11DhCafjTyJH…>, joining Tikkun's interfaith education and social action organization The Network of Spiritual Progressives at www.spiritualprogressives.org<http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=SLsdPXsiWj84n7OM%2FD…>, making a tax-deductible contribution to Tikkun (checks can be sent to Tikkun, 2342 Shattuck Ave #1200, Berkeley, Ca. 94704--our mailbox, not the actual address of the magazine's office), and/or creating a local study group to read and discuss Tikkun articles every week, every two weeks, or once a month. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Madhyam <madhyamdelhi(a)gmail.com> Date: Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 1:43 AM Subject: Book Announcement To: *Please accept our apologies if you receive multiple copies of this announcement* *Fixing Global Finance* * * A Developing Country Perspective on Global Financial Reforms * * * * *Kavaljit Singh* *THIS BOOK IS FREE TO DOWNLOAD FOR A LIMITED PERIOD! (See Below)* The financial crisis which erupted in mid-2007 has been widely viewed as the most serious financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s. The crisis which originated in developed countries quickly spread to developing countries and the rest of the world. The turbulence in financial systems was followed by a significant reduction in real economic activity throughout the world. The crisis has highlighted that financial markets are inherently unstable and market failures have huge economic and social costs. The crisis has renewed debate on the role of global finance and how it should be regulated. The aim of this book is to encourage and stimulate a more informed debate on reforming the global finance. It examines recent developments and problems afflicting the global financial system. From a developing country perspective, it enunciates guiding principles and offers concrete policy measures to create a more stable, equitable and sustainable global financial system. Several innovative measures have been proposed to reform the global finance and to ensure that it serves the real economy. *“The book is an outstanding contribution to the literature on global financial crisis. It is objective, sensitive, sensible, scholarly and yet eminently readable, with unique focus on developing countries. It should be a compulsory reading for policy makers and market participants.” **– * *Dr. Y. V. Reddy, Governor, Reserve Bank of India (2003-08)* * * *Contents: * 1. CSPP, where is this project going?
by Michel Bauwens 17 Mar '11

I'm publishing this on the 27th in the p2p blog: Critical Studies in Peer Production: where is this project going?<http://blog.p2pfoundation.net/?p=14831> [image: photo of Michel Bauwens] Michel Bauwens 27th March 2011 By my own reckoning at least 18 months ago, a project was started to build a scientific and theoretical journal<http://p2pfoundation.net/Critical_Studies_in_Peer_Production>to publish studies on peer production and P2P Theory. Very quickly, it seems the original team focused on process, for example coming up with an innovative open peer review process<http://cspp.oekonux.org/journal/peer-review> . However, it seems really strange that after so much time, the site is nearly empty of content, while at the same time, we have been able to spot 40 high quality essays, linked here <http://www.p2pfoundation.net/Essays>. So we sincerely hope that CSPP will finally focus on content, which is so richly available in the p2p research community. One interesting item, unfortunately at this time, the only item, is a very interesting debate on Actor-Network-Theory, see here<http://cspp.oekonux.org/debate/ant-power> . -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net Connect: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com; Discuss: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation Updates: http://del.icio.us/mbauwens; http://friendfeed.com/mbauwens; http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens

Dear Nathaniel, Thank you very much for your comments and attachments, I look forward to news of your completed phd research, for mentioning on the p2p blog, just for info, p2p in the sense we are using at the p2p foundation is not per se linked to the internet, it's essentially a relational dynamic, one of the four mentioned by Alan Page Fiske and which he calls communal shareholding, the only thing we are saying is that this particular dynamic, is expanding as the time/space limitations change through new technological affordances as for foucault and Latour, is your summary is true, one would have to dismiss the big phase transitions that have already occured in the past, such as the massive changes involved in the shift from feudalism to capitalism ... I can hardly believe they would deny such overwhelming historical realities ?? or has anything changed in human nature and social structures to make what was once a regular occurence, into an impossibility? in my almost non-existent knowledge of latour, one thing that struck me as p2p was the relationship with objects, Michel On Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 5:08 PM, nathaniel tkacz <nathanieltkacz(a)gmail.com>wrote: > Hi Michel, Jussi, P2P list, > > My PhD thesis is somewhat of an ANT-informed analysis of political > openness, read through the case study of Wikipedia.
