It is from last weekend already, but here you go: http://blockupy.org/en/4695/instead-of-a-comment-lets-make-our-choice-18m/ I thought you still might find it interesting, please share that in your networks or other mailinglists. Best wishes Corinna <mime-attachment.png> *Instead of a comment: Let’s make our choice. #18M* Commentary on the outcome of the Greek elections by the Blockupy Coordinating Committee; February 1st, 2015 We have waited far too long for the ECB to announce the date of the festive non/opening of their new headquarters. During this time we have asked ourselves whether we’ve repeated a mistake from the anti-globalization movement: making ourselves dependent on the agenda and calendars of the rulers. Now we can say: that mistake was our lucky break. Because something has happened. The Greek population did not accept what was considered to be without alternative. They have taken their crisis – the crisis of daily life, of healthcare, of refugees and migrants, of the working and unemployed, of schools and families – back to where it came from: to the German Europe of the Troika, of the austerity mandate, and of exclusion. They did not give in nor resign after the embittered defensive struggles of past years. We want to say this without pathos: We bow down before this resolve and rebellion, before the stamina and the hope that comes from it. March 18th is our opportunity and simultaneously our responsibility to form our own response. In Frankfurt, Germany. In front the ECB and with our friends from all over Europe and beyond. This is also why we “invented” Blockupy 2012, firmly held onto it, and developed it into a transnational space that also operates in Frankfurt, in Germany. We are also saying this because we don’t want to have false hopes about what was made possible by the elections in Greece. You can’t just vote crisis capitalism out of office. A different, better world won’t be introduced through a cabinet decision but rather through the deconstruction of a democracy from below and across all borders. This is why we aren’t placing ourselves on the side of some government project. That is not our question; that is not our task. We are on the side of the solidly united, fighting people in Greece and of the societal leftists. But as long as the new government carries their fight into the European institutions as opposed to passing the constraints of austerity on to its own people, there is a chance for all of us. Yes, this opens up the space for a new quality of political debate around the crisis regime and neoliberalism and sets in motion a domino-effect in Spain, Italy, and elsewhere. The opening of this sort of political corridor is what everyone is now expecting from Syriza – and it’s what Syriza will have to measure itself against in the future. Of course this also applies to all the other struggles in Greek society: those of the migrants, the LGBT community, the anti-fascists, and the activists against forced evictions, privatizations and destructive large-scale projects. However, we should not fall back into the old way of thinking of a main contradiction, especially in light of the coalition with right-wing populist ANEL. The opportunity of the Greek elections will not only be gauged by the government’s dealing with the Troika’s restrictions, but equally by their relationship to the questions from the left-wing movement. Social doesn’t work as national, patriarchal, homophobic, anti-Semitic, or racist. We know that the decision for ANEL was meant to be a tactical one. We also know that Syriza’s work, like the solidly united, anti-racist movements, has been a stronghold against right-wing populism and fascism in Greece. Nevertheless, the decision for ANEL clearly shows what little leeway the political situation offers and what constraints are inherent in governmental work. This is also why we must keep discussing and arguing with each other; there is no need for unconditional solidarity. At the same time we shouldn’t forget that it’s in the practical arguments where controversies can become productive. Avoiding submission under the constraints of government and party politics is only possible with a strong, independent left-wing movement. Political progress can only be achieved where it is already a social reality. The development in Athens has made clear that there needs to be patience and attention at every position, there needs to be self-organized projects to create hope and revolutionize society. The situation that has emerged in Greece cannot be revoked with reference to ANEL and the government coalition. It goes beyond the question of parties and governments and its venue is once again Europe. The question that has burst open for everyone here in Germany is whether or not one stays on the side of the crisis regime, or moves to the side of those who are daily victims. Many within the German media – all the way into the left-wing, liberal milieu – have already begun to clearly position themselves against “those insolent Greeks.” And less surprising: Brussels and Berlin are showing their teeth – not only in the direction of Greece but to all the corners of Europe that have recently made their move. We also need to make a move. On March 18th we can take to the streets and clearly show that resistance to the unreasonable demands of the crises regime is more necessary than ever before; that we can recognize ourselves in the struggles of the Greek movements for a better life for everyone. In doing so, we will actively position ourselves against all nationalistic and racist actors. We need to make the protests in Frankfurt on March 18th large, not just because the ECB in Frankfurt stands for the reign of the European elites, but because the crisis is also taking place here [in Germany] and there is no alternative. We are taking on the challenge. It's the way of the future, experts say.By Meredith Engel * Work is really getting under some workers’ skin. At the Epicenter complex in Stockholm, Sweden, office drones are becoming droids by inserting dog-style microchips to unlock doors, operate photo copiers or share contact info. It’s the latest example of a trend that is also emerging in the medical profession. "We call it augmented humanity," said tech trends expert Faith Popcorn, author of “Dictionary of the Future.” “We foresee a future in which everyone will have an implanted chip that will benefit our personal lives as well.” Designed by the Swedish Biohacking Group, the radio-wave-emitting chip is the size of a grain of rice and similar to transmitters implanted into pets. TODAYNBC reporter Keir Simmons has a microchip implanted under his skin. Epicenter's 700 tenants can get the implant, done by a professional tattoo artist wielding a thick needle. A Stockholm tattoo parlor has even hosted chip-insertion parties for employees. Swedish entrepreneur Hannes Sjoblad, who started the “biohacking” industry in his homeland, thinks it's only a matter of time before people use chips to ride public transportation, pay for groceries and track fitness. Popcorn thinks it will go even further. “You'll be able to download Mandarin into your embedded chip before your business meeting in Shanghai,” she said. But when he tried to open a door with his bionic hand, the chip didn’t work. There are still some bugs in this new technology. When the “Today” show tested the chip in Sweden on Thursday, reporter Keir Simmons’ chip didn’t work. "Go back to your flying car,” host Matt Lauer teased him. His joke might be apt. Some experts think subdermal implants will only ramp up our addiction to technology. "We've already gotten too overwhelmed with technology and if it's now a part of you, that's going to make you more obsessed with it," said Dr. Larry Rosen, a technology expert at California State University Dominguez Hills. mengel(a)nydailynews.com _______________________________________________ NetworkedLabour mailing list NetworkedLabour(a)lists.contrast.org http://lists.contrast.org/mailman/listinfo/networkedlabour -- Check out the Commons Transition Plan here at: http://en.wiki.floksociety.org/w/Research_Plan P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

You are very right below Bob, some-times unnecessary worries, especially after people work hard on things and do sacrifice a lot from their lives and loved ones, and under a systemic down ward spiral drops of destructive self-criticisms, turning into destructive criticism at those most close to us, in communities, and these feed back loops mesh with those who bears really bad motivations and the things we experience as collective defeat of the angry, innocent, politically activated (or those practically decided to take initiative of his-her own life) masses of the ruled. As a self criticism, I mentioned before but again, to make it clear, my criticism to Negri's interview to Roar, did include I think not necessary worries, mostly fed with my temporarily increased worries (who knows may be under the influence of another emotional manipulation experiments like that of facebook involves). And probably that injected a negative impulse to the exchange and the negative feedback loop is still traceable. While the positive developments around us are intensified as the convergences. Including syriza, podemos, faircoop, (from my side gnunion ideas interlocked finally), value networks coops, commoners, interactions are intensifying and we are moving towards actions like ECB, spaces like WSF in Tunis, COOP15 in France, G20 in Istanbul, and finally we have emerging alternative narrative being built simultaneously from bottom, middle, and top.. commons, p2p, .. so on on top of a concrete ideas and practices can be the core of working associated mode of production, and corresponding superstructures.. dots are connected and we have something finally visible to appeal larger amount of people, easy to access, and would allow them to make living.. Anyway, like the Kondortief one, and other sort of cycles, these ups and downs are complex but possible to tackle with like you practice. I think Michel is too, and Anna as well are very good in tempering the tension in a way allowing smother flow of conversations, like providing kind of fing sui climate for exchange on the lists .. - any way just thought it can be good to say this out and apologies again for the initial negative input in the tone. Let's take this in to account and don't let it block productive, inspiring, and positive developments taking place and disturbing the growing darkness for larger segments of the species. best, orsan > On 3 feb. 2015, at 17:01, Bob Haugen <bob.haugen(a)gmail.com> wrote: > > I am in total agreement for the requirement for internal ideological > transformation of the participants in movements that want to transform > society. Syriza issue
by P2P Foundation mailing list 06 Feb '15

I have no problem with this desire, only if it is used as either a realistic expectation in all circumstances or a litmus test to judge social and political movements and advances ... personally, I found the countervailing value of respecting where people are in their own evolution just as important though .. and I would be looking for a balance between those two polarities .. I live here in a society where authencity is seen as a counter-value and hypocrisy seen as a positive and crucial requirement for social harmony .. I may not agree with it, and often deplore it, but I also have to respect it and adapt to it, Michel << I do feel hurt when my desire for a more authentic communication is seen as a belief in instantaneous wish fulfilment. But I'm guessing that when you talk about me not appreciating how difficult this process is, and my expecting it to happen instantaneously, that you might be feeling that it is easier for me, that I am ready, and do not struggle with it as you do. If that is the case, perhaps it might be more helpful if I were to talk about how difficult I find it to put these feelings into words, or take on board what someone else is saying, how often I might dismiss what they say by making judgements before I can really hear what is being said, what a struggle it is to try and stay with what is real and alive. -- Check out the Commons Transition Plan here at: http://en.wiki.floksociety.org/w/Research_Plan P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

no women in syriza

unfortunately, the collective view seems to filter out the name of the person sending the messages, so not sure whom I'm responding to, June I guess ? just to clarify, my comments are not related to supporting the fact that there are not enough women in the government, I strongly deplore that my comments are a response to the demand that alternative movements should fully integrate the demands of an idealized form of awareness and be perfect in that sense ... Syriza has other weaknesses that I deplore .. it's commons orientation is weak, it's ecological orientation is very weak (I heard), and the lack of female representation is another .. this being said, should we stop critically rejoicing because of it. My answer is no, critical support is needed, pointing out the above and other weaknesses is part of that support .. Michel <<Date: Thu, 5 Feb 2015 06:29:10 -0800 From: P2P Foundation mailing list <p2p-foundation(a)lists.ourproject.org> Subject: Re: [P2P-F] [NetworkedLabour] [Networkedlabour] Another Politics - After Syriza To: "p2p-foundation(a)lists.ourproject.org" <p2p-foundation(a)lists.ourproject.org>, Anna Harris <anna(a)shsh.co.uk> Cc: "networkedlabour(a)lists.contrast.org" <networkedlabour(a)lists.contrast.org> Message-ID: <1423146550.79364.YahooMailNeo(a)web184705.mail.ne1.yahoo.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="utf-8" Thank you, Michel and Vasilis for getting the actual clarification data. I had meant the actual "ministers" though it is good to know that women are there to help out as "deputy ministers". That is more sincerely meant, than it might sound. But no Michel, I like you too much and value the work you do with the P2P Foundation too much, to let you or the P2P Foundation off the hook as accepting that asking for more female (and other previously left out "others") representation in the leadership of a modern industrialised "new-vision" Commons-oriented government in the year 2015, is too "radical" an ask. Again, that makes no "Commons sense" to me and shouldn't to anyone. I think my "support" (and Anna's clearly it seemed to me) is actually given rather than withdrawn in these very comments, warning that not addressing these underlying "misses", certainly in not admitting and validating them, is the very reality-most-likely to-derail any hoped for true value-systems change that all sustainable political-economic systems rest on or certainly fall on, ultimately. Why it is seen as "either/or" and oppositional to even raise these warning flags in order to easily, and it is quite easily done, rectify them or put it on the agenda to rectify them down the line, seems to me a very old paradigm to work from. I certainly understand not letting the "perfect be the enemy of the good" when there are so many real "enemies", but as my last comment on this, this would seem to fall more under "but we are practicing what we preach in the p2p foundation, with difficulty, with problems, but attempting it nevertheless" -- Michel In essence, it is this discussion that makes me feel that's true, not in not having it at all. This is either what is consciously and thus far more easily done, or unconsciously resisted and replayed with the same destructive underlying constructs that defeated it the first time and every other time we were told to "wait" until things were stable, to do this kind of inclusive consciousness, deep-real-change work "then". So in February 2015, we all celebrate a supposedly true and viable long-hoped-for, essential political-economic change from a leftist/Commons perspective (and that's what I truly am hoping it is, too), but there is not one single woman, not one, in Syriza's new cabinet. 100% male leadership! "but changing the general culture of society and social movements is a long and arduous road, taking generations ..." That's not just glacial movement, Michel it's backwards. Fwd: Encounters #5: The sharing economy - An economy of right relationship?

To: michelsub2004(a)gmail.com Dear Michel, Major changes are happening in the global economy, especially within the more industrialized countries, that have the potential to undermine the power of mammoth corporations and create a more egalitarian and sustainable society. New technologies allow people to share their belongings with others (the sharing economy), build new things without needing massive infrastructures (distributed production), finance initiatives without the use of banks (peer-to-peer financing) and to develop new technologies and share them without restrictive patent systems (open source and knowledge movements). Collectively, these different advances have been termed the collaborative economy. *This issue will focus exclusively on the sharing economy but we will return to these other pieces of the collaborative economy in another issue. * *Read Encounters #5 here in PDF format. <http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=pHQXtkSudERgOMzT2g5tS7v3b9Z…>* * <http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=tghe3ZlYW0qldzOr30WpPrv3b9Z…>* While these initiatives hold the potential for a better economy, it will depend on how they are constructed, as some parts of the collaborative economy already look frustratingly similar to the current economy. Concerns include how to guarantee the rights of people doing the labor, who benefits from that labor, and what of the low-wage workers who are displaced by a new unregulated industry? Fwd: [foodsovUK discussion list] Get involved in a global conference in London this September
by P2P Foundation mailing list 04 Feb '15

04 Feb '15

Begin forwarded message: From: Andy Goldring <andyg(a)permaculture.org.uk> Date: 4 February 2015 15:53:48 GMT To: foodsov.uk.coordination(a)lists.riseup.net Subject: [foodsovUK discussion list] Get involved in a global conference in London this September Reply-To: Andy Goldring <andyg(a)permaculture.org.uk> www.ipcuk.events/conference @ipcuk2015 +44 845 458 1805 Dear Food Sovereignty orgs and networks, I'm writing to let you all know about the 12th International Permaculture Conference (IPC) that we are hosting on the 8-9 September at 'The Light' Conference Centre, Euston, London. Permaculture is an ecological design approach that is now being practised in over 100 countries. Recent research and reviews are showing that it is making a major contribution to sustainability practice and thinking. The conference theme is 'Designing the World We Want'. This will be a trans-disciplinary conference that brings together over 600 permaculture and sustainability practitioners, researchers and policy makers from Europe and across the world. We hope you will want to get involved. Day one will showcase exemplary projects and initiatives from across the world that, if mainstreamed, would enable us to meet climate change and wider sustainability targets. Day two looks at the transformational processes, including policy developments, that will enable this to happen. Both days will be underpinned by the latest research and policy thinking. The conference seeks to articulate a coherent and practical vision of the future based on what we know is already possible. We are working to feed the results in to the COP 21 conference in Paris later this year. We are very much going beyond permaculture, and welcome your involvement in this conference. Together we offer amazing solutions - use this conference to showcase what you do, and build links to other organisations and networks making a difference. Its a big opportunity to highlight food sovereignty as a key part of our healthy future. Key information about the conference can be found here: www.ipcuk.events/conference I hope you are interested in getting involved. There are a few ways you could do this: Please let people in your networks know about the conference via your newsletters, website, e-bulletins and social media. Identify people in your network that could make a contribution to the event as a speaker or workshop leader – please encourage then to do this by Friday 27th March latest. Get involved more closely as a partner or sponsor - to promote your work to our global audience www.ipcuk.events/sponsors/becomeasponsor The Conference will be followed by a 5 day networking 'convergence' for permaculture practitioners – if you have any permaculture practitioners in your network that can come along that would be wonderful – we are making some really important strategic decisions about how to move forward internationally and keen to do this with input and awareness of how it fits into a wider strategy for change in partnership with other networks. More information on www.ipcuk.events/convergence/programme. I am happy to talk through any questions or suggestions that you may have by email, on the phone, or in person if that would be helpful. There are some really good opportunities to promote our shared goals through the IPC, I look forward to talking to you soon. Fwd: [tapas] New Commons Transition Interview: Share the World's Resources
by P2P Foundation mailing list 04 Feb '15

04 Feb '15

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Stacco Troncoso <staccotroncoso(a)p2pfoundation.net> Date: Wed, Feb 4, 2015 at 7:12 PM Subject: [tapas] New Commons Transition Interview: Share the World's Resources To: tapas(a)lists.p2pfoundation.net Hi friends, I've just posted the latest interview in our series of conversations around Commons Transition <http://commonstransition.org/category/articles-and-resources/commoners-in-t…>. This time around I interview Rajesh Makwana from Share the World's Resources, an organization with goals and values very similar to ours. Here's an extract: "The key to scaling up the commons is the transformation of the state apparatus so that it can operate as a partner to the commons sector. Only if such a transformation is achieved can it ever be possible for governments to facilitate the development of commons-based institutions for the sustainable and equitable stewardship of the global commons. The establishment of grassroots commons models and even commons federations that can mobilise politically (as David Bollier suggests in his book Think Like a Commoner) can play a key role in challenging the status quo by demonstrating sustainable economic alternatives." Click here for the full interview <http://commonstransition.org/share-the-worlds-resources-a-conversation-with…>. I hope you read it and share it in your networks.
