The 77-year-old leader of the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics said some countries had a youth unemployment rate of more than 50 per cent, with many millions in Europe seeking work in vain. "It's madness," the Pope said in an interview with the Barcelona-based Vanguardia daily's Vatican correspondent Henrique Cymerman. "We discard a whole generation to maintain an economic system that no longer endures, a system that to survive has to make war, as the big empires have always done," he said. "But since we cannot wage the third world war, we make regional wars. "And what does that mean? That we make and sell arms. And with that the balance sheets of the idolatrous economies - the big world economies that sacrifice man at the feet of the idol of money - are obviously cleaned up." Pope Francis says there is enough food to feed all the world's hungry. The rich and the rest <http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2014/s4024239.htm> <http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2014/s4024239.htm> French academic and economist Thomas Piketty talks to the ABC's PM about the world's growing inequality. <http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2014/s4024239.htm> "When you see photographs of malnourished children you put your head in your hands, you cannot understand it," he said. "I think we are in a global economic system that is not good." The Pope says the people's needs should be at the heart of the economic system. "But we have placed money in the centre, the god of money. We have fallen into the sin of idolatry, the idolatry of money. The economy moves by the desire to have more and paradoxically it feeds a disposable culture," he said. The pontiff said the young were discarded when "the birth rate is limited" and the old were discarded when they no longer were considered productive. "By discarding children and the old, we discard the future of a people because the young will pull us strongly forward and the old will give us wisdom," he said. *AFP* *Topics:* catholic <http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/catholic>, religion-and-beliefs <http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/religion-and-beliefs>, unemployment <http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/unemployment>, globalisation---economy <http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/globalisation---economy>, holy-see-vatican-city-state <http://www.abc.net.au/news/topic/holy-see-vatican-city-state> First posted Fri 13 Jun 2014, 9:59pm AEST -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

dear stacco, I delegate this to you as it concers the hispanic world, the english explanation is below, in case you want to support this campaign through a blogpost, Michel ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: José Alberto Escorcia Gordiano <quepasaporlacalle(a)gmail.com> Date: Fri, Jun 13, 2014 at 11:46 PM Subject: [P2P-es] Last call from Mexico, HELP US // Último llamado desde México, la tenemos muy diicil aquí y hasta mañana podemos hacer algo To: "P2P Foundation - Lista de correo en espa&#241, ol" < p2p-lang-es(a)lists.ourproject.org> Cc: Primavera Tellez Giron <primaveraperiodista(a)gmail.com>, Bill Marczak < billmar(a)gmail.com> Hola compañeros, les escribimos de nuevo para una última ayuda, las dos tormentas anteriores (#EPNvsInternet y #EPNvsMexico) funcionaron para aplazar las leyes que censuran internet, venden nuestros recursos como el petróleo y la electricidad y prohiben las protestas. We write to you to ask for your help again. The last two storms of messages in social networks were very successful because of your help worldwide!!! The result… We stopped with your help for a period of one month, President Enrique Peña Nieto´s censorship and abusive bills! It is important to say that that the Congress wanted to approve in fast track Peña Nieto´s bills violating parliamentary procedures! As you know Enrique Peña Nieto´s (EPN) “reforms” wanted to censor Internet, to sell our energetic resources (petroleum), prohibit and criminalize the protests, strip community and indigenous radio stations of funding, give more power to the duopoly in television Televisa and TV Azteca and to the telecommunication mogul America Movil, owned by one of the richest men in the world. That believe it or not, is the Mexican Carlos Slim. Now during the World Cup, President Enrique Peña Nieto wanted to make fool of us… and when we are enjoying the football matches the Congress is going to approve in fast track and without discussion this censorship laws!!! We really need your help because we have no time. This is our last chance to stop them. We only have until June 21st so please help us! If we stop this NOW Congressmen will be forced to discuss publicly the laws in other moment without the distraction of the World Cup. We need your help because in addition to our political problems, President Peña Nieto has been fighting us with bots that we called Peña-bots. That is why we need your help worldwide more than ever to make our Trending Topic Succeed! We have to force Peña Nieto to desist on passing his bills (his popularity is declining only 27% of Mexicans sympathize with him) the key is putting under pressure his government outside Mexico. That is his weakest point. 1. The World should know what is really happening in Mexico and the laws that President Enrique Peña Nieto wanted to pass to violate our human rights and to sell our energetic resources. 2. Maintain the Trending Topic for more than one day. 3. Give us your support and share our information. We need also that the conversation spread around journalists, national and international, press and Media. 4. Help us to maintain the pressure on social net works until June 21st If we succeed in all this strategy we would put Enrique Peña Nieto under pressure so he would not have another choice than to step back and do not approve his bad laws in order to prevent that his popularity drops down more and he will try to save his government. Help us we need you! If we write 100 twits per second we will achieve a national Trending Topic, but if we have 1,000 per minute with your help, we will achieve a global Trending Topic! ;D This is the web site where you can find information to share in English and Spanish. www.mexvsepn.com Thank you for joining us, thank you for your help again! -- *Alberto Escorcia* Robot Dreamer en PateandoPiedras.net Coordinador de YoSoyRed.com *Teléfono: *+52 55 63908800 *Movil/Whatsapp:* +521 55 16531533 *México* +34 603 818 349 *España* @albertoescorcia <http://twitter.com/AlbertoEscorcia> @pateandopiedras <http://twitter.com/pateandopiedras>, @yosoyred_ <http://twitter.com/yosoyred_> *Skype:* albertoescorcia _______________________________________________ Wiki: http://p2pfoundation.net/Spanish_P2P_WikiSprint Lista https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-lang-es -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

It pictures an industry as parsed horizontally among dissimilar “actors” (only some of which are corporations) and delivering value bidirectionally, with lower layers providing platforms on which participants in higher layers engage in peer transactions. The skeleton of a stack is a set of rules, often contractual or embedded in the technology, by which markets, hierarchies, and self-organizing “clans” of actors coexist and coparticipate symbiotically. The stack “de-averages” motivation, agency, scale, modes of innovating, and modes of risk-taking. Stacks are newly enabled by the rise of scalable communities and by falling transaction costs. They are given urgency by the intensifying agency problems and market failures that characterize decades-old compromises at the heart of many industries. In many cases, they have advantages over traditional architectures, especially with respect to innovation, adaptability, and the efficient exploitation of scale. http://www.bcg.com/expertise_impact/BCG_fellows/strategy/philip_evans.aspx BCG FELLOW Philip Evans: Stacks [image: evans_philip_thumb_lg]Philip Evans is a senior partner and managing director in BCG’s Boston office. Philip's long-term interest is the relation between information technology and business strategy. He is a coauthor of, among other publications, four Harvard Business Review articles, one of which, *“Strategy and the New Economics of Information <http://hbr.org/1997/09/strategy-and-the-new-economics-of-information/ar/1>,*” won HBR’s McKinsey Award. *Blown to Bits <http://www.bcg.com/expertise_impact/publications/PublicationDetails.aspx?id…>* (coauthored with Tom Wurster) was the best-selling book worldwide on technology and strategy in 2000 and has been translated into 13 languages. He is a frequent speaker on technology and strategy at industry, corporate, and academic conferences and has given keynote addresses at events convened by Bill Gates, Michael Milken, and the World Economic Forum. Philip's fellowship research concentrates on the emergence of a new form of corporate and industrial organization, the stack. A stack is a modular, layered, industrial architecture topped by a peering community. They are given urgency by the intensifying agency problems and market failures that characterize decades-old compromises at the heart of many industries. In many cases, they have advantages over traditional architectures, especially with respect to innovation, adaptability, and the efficient exploitation of scale. The major output of Philip's fellowship will be a book titled Stacks, to be published by the Harvard Business Press. Philip graduated with double first-class honors in economics from Cambridge University, winning two University prizes. He was a Harkness Fellow in the economics department at Harvard and also obtained an MBA with honors from the Harvard Business School. -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

When it comes to our individual and collective engagement in making the world a better place, we often talk about uniting in diversity: uniting in harmony to multiply outcomes and uniting in diversity for multiple focus and resilience. But how can this concretely be achieved? We all acknowledge the critical need for systemic change and for collective intelligence, but we all have different opinions about the challenges our world is facing and the ways to address these challenges. We each try to convince others that we hold the best solutions and methodologies, which often prevents us from coordinating or communing in effective ways. But is this possible? What type of unity or communion are we talking about? As agents of change, we gather around the social objects that our engagement and action logics attract us to, those that resonate the most with the way we see the world and that determine our priorities and the pathways we envision. These social objects are the nodes around which emerging social movements converge and common visions and praxis are formed. That's where meaning is created and shared through languages that help us understand each other, where conversations and repeated interactions are initiated, and where peer learning allows us to explore new territories. The action frameworks that we build or are shaped from practice to serve our movements and communities provide a context for our co-individuation: the processes by which our identities as individual and collective change agents are formed, transformed and differentiated in relation to each other and to the forces that hold us together and fuel our capacity to act in cohesive ways. At the same time, however, as these frameworks create natural boundaries around our niches of action, they become exclusive of alternative frameworks. This hinders relational dynamics and our capacity to collaborate across groups outside of our domains of action. Our territory of action as a whole is actually composed of islands. We are facing a paradox. What seems to make us effective as agents focusing on our respective domains of engagement is specifically what prevents us from uniting and being effective as a whole. This is one of the greatest challenges for systemic change-something Occupy and other self-organized movements have worked to overcome, with some success but also shortcomings. In practice, attempts to organize global responses and unite 'across islands' often result in diluted focus and the possibilities of all parties weakened and in delusion. Alternatively, such attempts can foster the adoption of unifying ideologies, reductionist both in thinking and action in ways that can ultimately put systems at risk and lead to totalitarianism. Eventually, contradictions get crystallized and conflicts perpetuated. Developmental approaches to systemic change that require that we transcend our levels of consciousness and the order of complexity from which we 'interconnectedly' or 'dialectically' develop and apply solutions are insufficient to bring about systemic change because they are prescriptive and not naturally generative and interconnectable. Agency is distributed across islands and produces independent outcomes at various levels and scales. What needs to converge and unite or interconnect for systemic effects are outcomes, not necessarily the processes generative of these outcomes, or the people involved locally in these processes and the collective will that mobilizes them. Think of an ecology for transformative action with a huge potential ready to be activated, where the various logics of engagement complement each other systemically and epistemically, interconnected by the invisible hand of common logic that underlies them. There is a universal aspect to what drives social movements across the globe, even if we cannot clearly translate it in comparable terms across practices and languages. Much of what these movements are currently engaged in is dedicated in one form or another to protecting the environment, people and resources from enclosure, over-exploitation and abuse, and to generating thrivability in its various forms. The commons as the timeless generative systems that humanity shares in common is such an archetype: "a collectively inherited unconscious idea, pattern of thought, image, etc., universally present in individual psyches," a logic that, if discovered, has potential for further enactment in each domain of engagement. If recognized and manifested in each of these domains, the commons logic could act as a transition image for systemic change or as scaffold for the new paradigm to emerge so that disparate efforts for change can all together generate more significant impacts in their own territories of influence and coalesce to create greater outcomes, with no prescriptive orchestration. So what if, in the end, unity is about recognizing our mutual niches of engagement and the many streams of commons logic that underlie them as bridges between our islands? What if unity is about acknowledging the health of the commons as the measure against which to assess progress? By discovering each other in a Common World, suggests Spanish philosopher Marina Garcés, we get the world between us to emerge, helping us draw the coordinates for a common dimension. *Helene Finidori* is the Coordinator of the* Commons Abundance Network*. *www.commonsabundance.net <http://www.commonsabundance.net>* _______________________________________________ ** WSFDiscuss is an open and unmoderated forum for the exchange of information and views on the experience, practise, and theory of the World Social Forum at any level (local, national, regional, and global) and on related social and political movements and issues. "I first give a personal review on the important spaces of convergence and mobilisations some took place in 2011 and 2012, and others currently in progress: like, Joint Social Conferences, Alter Summit, Hub Meetings of Indignados, Global May, Blockupy, globalNOISE, Agora 99 and Firenze 10+10. Then I argue that with the spread of the P2P or ‘advanced communal’ forms of value and public space creation, based on P2P relational dynamics, and the cross fertilisation between the new generation P2P activists, technologies and new generation social justice activists, we may this time build much stronger and transnationally connected alliances between radical democratic and revolutionary forces. Such P2P alliances would allow collaboration between horizontal and vertical forms of agency, in the West and the East, experienced in varying fields of struggle and produce accessible, feasible, democratically built, anti-totalitarian and alter-systemic emancipatory projects to replace the capitalist mode of production with the emerging new P2P mode. In the hands of emerging alliances such projects would be much more powerful than the communist, socialist and social democratic projects of the previous century. Then we might be able to turn the tide in favour of the people. The rEvolution, in this sense, might have already begun! Would be good to have an comprehensive list of links somewhere. Ps: in case anyone realised the list was down for a week, myself just realised. So apologies for the sudden storm of mainy posts by myself. best, Orsan On 13 June 2014 00:29, Örsan Şenalp <orsan1234(a)gmail.com> wrote: > via Sol Trumbo Vila > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > From: Sol Trumbo Vila <soltrumbovila(a)tni.org> > Date: 11 June 2014 15:21 > Subject: [2011movements-fsm discussion] "Network movements" First > piece Europe at the crossroads - Social movements respond > To: > > > Dear friends, > > Today we release the first article of the TNI series: At the > crossroads – Europe’s movements respond. > > “Network Movements” an excellent piece from Bernardo Gutierrez. > > http://www.tni.org/article/network-movements-and-new-social-atmosphere > > ‘Network movements are a new ubiquitous social atmosphere’ > > Enjoy and share. > > Sorry for cross-posting > > Best, > > -- > Sol Trumbo Vila > Project Coordinator - EU Economic Governance > Transnational Institute (TNI) > soltrumbovila(a)tni.org - @Soltrumbo > +31 20 662 66 08 > > > > -- > Archive: http://openfsm.net/[…]/1402493419611 > To unsubscribe send an email with subject "unsubscribe" to > 2011movements-fsm-wsf-discussion(a)lists.openfsm.net.
