With this large-scaled project, researchers from the Department of Social and Economic History of Utrecht University seek to digitize the Amsterdam premarriage records (1581-1811) to make the data from these records available for scientific research. Using the websourcing platform* ‘Vele Handen’** (‘Many Hands’)* <http://www.velehanden.nl/>, the research team initiated a co-operation with the *Amsterdam City Archives* <https://stadsarchief.amsterdam.nl/english/home.en.html> to attract volunteers to help with entering the information held in the source. Over 285 - and numbers still increasing - volunteers, among whom history teachers, genealogists, and alumni of Utrecht University have already registered to start entering the data. In the first phase (2014) of this project, the team aims to digitize about one-fifth of these records, which will already form a rich source of data for further historical research. The intention is to digitize the whole source by the end of 2015. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Jay Walljasper <jay(a)jaywalljasper.com> Date: Tue, Jun 17, 2014 at 11:41 AM Subject: Borrowing Bright Ideas From All Over-- my latest work To: Jay Walljasper <jay(a)jaywalljasper.com> Dear Friends and Colleagues: Over the past year, I wrote a series of four reports for the McKnight Foundation based on original research about how cities can become thriving, sustainable, enjoyable places for all. My specific focus is the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan region, where McKnight is based, but the *bright ideas and success stories* I turned up could work anywhere. 27 Bright Ideas to Steal from the Rest of the World <http://www.mcknight.org/system/asset/document/475/FFT_Nov2013.pdf> <http://www.mcknight.org/system/asset/document/551/FFT_May2014_FINAL.pdf> What We Can Learn About Urban Success from Seattle, Denver & Toronto <http://www.mcknight.org/system/asset/document/551/FFT_May2014_FINAL.pdf> Mary Tyler Moore Doesn’t Live Here Anymore <http://www.mcknight.org/system/asset/document/395/FFT_07_2013FINAL.pdf> A River Runs Through Us <http://www.mcknight.org/system/asset/document/514/FFT_Mississippi_FINAL.pdf> This is just one of the exciting projects I’ve worked on recently. *I’m chronicling the emergence of the walking movement* for America Walks, Kaiser Permanente and the Everybody Walk Collaborative. Walking as a Way of Life <http://everybodywalk.org/media_assets/WalkingAsAWayOfLife1_Final.pdf> I’ve also been fortunate enough to *write and consult about the future of our communities* for People for Bikes, On the Commons, the St. Paul Riverfront Corporation, Fresh Energy, Project for Public Spaces, the Will Steger Wilderness Center and Friends of the Mississippi River. My work has appeared *Yes! magazine, Utne Reader, Notre Dame magazine, Huffington Post, Common Dreams, Des Moines Register, MinnPost, Planetizen, Commons magazine *(which I edit) and many other publications. I *spoke to a number of groups* including the Sidore Lecture at Keene State College (NH), the Kansas Outdoor Summit, the Greater Des Moines Neighborhood Conference and the Road Scholars program. I continue to seek *opportunities to write, consult and speak*. I look forward to hearing from you at jay(a)jaywalljasper.com or 612.822.1104. Pagerank, attack-resistant trust metrics and Currency theories
by Apostolis Xekoukoulotakis 16 Jun '14

This is an DRAFT document on a new currency proposal. On its basis is the idea of commonification of the means of production. This seams to me to have less administrative costs than previous solutions, allowing for p2p value creation groups to form with zero friction. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_19ZRSvgXZxRmNoWXNuR0xySG8/edit?usp=shari… -- Sincerely yours, Apostolis Xekoukoulotakis

Fwd: Kër Thiossane - Restitution Atelier African Fabbers

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Orsan Senalp <orsan1234(a)gmail.com> Date: Sun, Jun 15, 2014 at 11:08 AM Subject: [Networkedlabour] Fwd: [transcollab] Berlin towards Turin - Invitation/Info To: networkedlabour(a)lists.contrast.org Invitation to an Interesting event in Berlin and launch of 'The European Commune'. Orsan Begin forwarded message: *From:* "Sola K." <sosolasola(a)gmail.com> *Date:* 14 Jun 2014 14:49:38 GMT+2 *To:* "transcollab(a)lists.so36.net" <transcollab(a)lists.so36.net> *Subject:* *[transcollab] Berlin towards Turin - Invitation/Info* *Reply-To:* transcollab(a)lists.so36.net Dear all, During the coming week several events are being held in Berlin to work towards Turin and beyond. This is an invitation to all to take part! On Thursday, June 19, we will kick-off at 16h with a discussion at Free University of Berlin (organized by various student groups): *THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US: Precarity, Youth Unemployment and Protest in Europe* <https://www.facebook.com/events/308022606024001/?ref=22>, together with speakers from DinamoPress, Fundación de los Comunes (invited), Global Project, and Interventionistische Linke: On Saturday, June 20, the* International Coordinating Meeting of the Blockupy coalition* will take place from 11-17h (invitation copied below), which will include an international evaluation of May of Solidarity, discussion about Turin and planning towards the Day X mobilization to the "Non-Opening" of the new ECB tower in Frankfurt. In the evening on Saturday, the *Launch Discussion of "The Commune of Europe <http://www.thecommuneofeurope.org/>"* text will take place, together with comrades from Krytyka Polityczna, DinamoPress, Beyond Europe (Ums Ganze and Alpha Kappa), Fundación de los Comunes (invited), Allt åt alla, and interventionistische Linke - and hopefully many others: https://www.facebook.com/events/286151601563955/ If anyone wishes to join and needs a place to stay in Berlin, we can of course organize it. Also, hopefully the opportunity created by the fact that many people will be in Berlin during this time can also be used to discuss the very welcome developments towards a possible next Agora99 in Istanbul - as well as to create stronger links between plans for a next Agora99 and other events/mobilizations/activities in the meantime, including Blockupy and Turin. We look forward to seeing many of you. In solidarity, Kelly *Invitation to the 3rd European wide coordinating meeting for Blockupy 2014 * Saturday, June 21st 2014, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mehringhof, Gneisenaustr. 2a, Berlin-Kreuzberg (in the 2nd backyard, closest subways: U7 or U6 at Mehringdamm, see also: http://www.mehringhof.de/ or http://www.berlin.de/stadtplan/?ADR_ZIP=10961&ADR_CITY=Berlin&ADR_STREET=Gn… E=2A&ADR_INFO=Mehringhof+-+Versammlungsraum&show <http://www.berlin.de/stadtplan/?ADR_ZIP=10961&ADR_CITY=Berlin&ADR_STREET=Gn…>=) Dear All, the “May of Solidarity” is over with actions, marches, assemblies in many European cities and regions. With “May of Solidarity” we made a crucial step for connecting networks and movements – not only because we succeeded in linking various social struggles under a common call, we also succeeded in developing new threads for common action in different location. And, we shouldn’t forget about this, we came to that agreement of de-/ centralized European Action Days before the European elections different movement conventions across Europe. While “May of Solidarity” can stand in its own right (see the final statement at www.mayofsolidarity.org) we also saw and see it as step for building a movement of movements, for transnationalizing our efforts and alliances for building a transnational space of action with common goals, locations, mobilizations. With this upcoming meeting of the “European wide coordination meeting for Blockupy 2014” on June 21st in Berlin we wish to - develop and decide on our next steps + mobilizations - evaluate how we function as an alliance and in building a European-wide coordinating structure - elaborate on our political threads through indepth debate - think through the next practical meeting points on the streets (as Torino...) and prepare for an European wide mobilization to “Day X” to disturb the ECB opening in fall in Frankfurt. It is time to evaluate how we’ve done so far and to get serious with next common plans. It is necessary to coordinate our collectives, networks, struggles and movements in as concrete ways as possible – and to meet physically for that for a day. Potentially this coordination shall somehow be able to represent our struggles and make it bigger. We want to coordinate and for a movement of movements in construction, we need to network and build up common plans and actions. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dante-Gabryell Monson <dante.monson(a)gmail.com> Date: Sat, Jun 14, 2014 at 5:26 PM Subject: p2p bitcoin pool ? To: "econowmix(a)googlegroups.com" <econowmix(a)googlegroups.com>, " opencc(a)googlegroups.com" <opencc(a)googlegroups.com> http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/281lg1/lets_leave_ghash_in_the_pas… *Summary* As a community, let's make this the last time we all hear about the 51% attack. *How?* The community can encourage the use of P2Pools *(pools of bitcoin miners that cannot be controlled by the pool operator).* *Attention all Miners* You guys are literally the backbone of our system. Without your hashing power the community couldn't send transactions! Nonetheless, we need your help once again, yet this requires effort on your part unfortunately. *(The community can still do it's part to help!)* *Miners! Become a fighting soldier in the war against centralization by joining P2Pools and leaving GHash* Here is a list of P2Pools <http://p2pool.hostv.pl/>, yet below are the pools most often recommended by the community. - P2Pool.in <http://p2pool.in/> - BlisterPool <http://blisterpool.com/> *(this pool even has a neat donate button <http://blisterpool.com/p2pdonate>, allowing the community to tip the pool based on hashing power contributed!)* -- *Please note an intrusion wiped out my inbox on February 8; I have no record of previous communication, proposals, etc ..* P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/
