Mark: You and your compatriots on P2P view the world from revisionism. Go ahead and keep looking through your microscope-provided by your "teachers." Or take the time and read some very old documented evidence available at a library near you= but you may need to stay there awhile on microfiche. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Janssen Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2011 4:39 PM To: P2P Foundation mailing list Subject: Re: [P2P-F] Fw: Info On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 10:32 AM, Natalie Golovin <10natalie(a)cox.net> wrote: > The European Tribes treated the Natives no worse than they treated each > other. Whoa. You should really stop talking. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How about forced acculturation, not allowing them to speak their own language (which hold the record of their own history), confined them under threat of violent force into reservations, among other things. But, really, that's probably not even the worst of it -- the worst of it is that for reasons they couldn't ever understand is why you were doing all of these cruel things when they were willing to share it it all with you. Why, when they handed out their hand to be friends, you chopped it off. Remember, they're the ones who gave us Thanksgiving which is still "celebrated" in this nation today. Read the reports made of making first contact with the Native peoples here. You really should read up before propagating the attitudes of conquest. Sorry.... marcos _______________________________________________ P2P Foundation - Mailing list http://www.p2pfoundation.net https://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation

crowd sourced permaculture tools and database ?
by Dante-Gabryell Monson 11 Apr '12

11 Apr '12

Does anyone know of a tool to collaboratively *map synergies between plants+animals,* *and add various data on the plants and their synnergies,* at various levels ( top soil up till trees ) ? ideally, a ( distributed ? ) internet based platform and software tool, to be used from a internet browser, with a open and free license on the data and software used, much like wikipedia. When searching via google<https://www.google.be/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ix=sea&ie=UTF-8&ion=1#h…> , I find the following person, who has a similar approach, and attempts to converge interest for project development : http://www.foodandtechconnect.com/site/2011/04/20/polyculturetech-part-i-th… excerpt : *"what would a design tool for curating meaningful ecological relationships look like?* *A decade ago, inspired by this question, I conceived of a web-based application for designing Permaculture guilds. I solicited a team of developers, secured funding, and began project managing the development of the application, which was dubbed (now embarrassingly) the Permaculture Information Web. And thus were planted the seeds of awesomeness. But in time, I meandered off to grad school, funding dried up, and the project has since been cryogenically frozen. That is, until there’s interest in unfreezing it.* *In the interest of a potential resuscitation, here’s the vision.* *My intention for the application is to enable gardeners and farmers, rural and urban, to design and grow Permaculture guilds. The interface of the application would be similar to those of concept-mapping tools, which allow users to explicitly define and interact with relationships between components. Although it’s not quite a design app, I’m thinking in terms of Thinkmap’s Visual Thesaurus <http://www.visualthesaurus.com/>, an online, interactive thesaurus. When word is entered, say network, it becomes orbited by its synonyms, which are closer or farther away from the original word based on how close or far away they are in meaning. When one of the synonyms is clicked, it too becomes orbited by its synonyms, and so on, enabling an exploration of language as a complex web of interrelated meanings."*

Dears, I have created Arthakranti Tokens as tool to spread AK proposal. This token is made up of plastic in different colors. One side there is a print – “Arthakranti message” and other side is empty for the user. These token can be made available to you in set of 100 pieces at a cost of Rs.50. You can either pass this cost to user or you can bear it as contribution and give it free to the user. How to use them? 1) I shared these tokens to canteen food service provider at our office. There is always an issue of change. He has started using them as per his requirement. This way both are satisfied. 2) These tokens can be used at all malls baggage counters/ Chappal stands/ parking stands etc.. 3) These can be used in clinics or labs to set queue. 4) These can be used at fast food centers. So interested can do some marketing in their respective area. Let me know if you have any requirement of these tokens. Thanks and regards, Abhijeet Wagh (AYI): A+ve. Fw: No longer any doubt.
by robert searle 30 Mar '12

30 Mar '12

----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Bill McKibben - 350.org <organizers(a)350.org> To: robert searle <dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk> Sent: Friday, 30 March 2012, 0:52 Subject: No longer any doubt. Dear friends, Imagine one of the largest banners the world has ever seen, staked down on a California glacier with a simple message: ‘I’m Melting!’ Now imagine, at the same moment, activists in Ho Chi Minh City gathering along the Saigon River to mark the ever higher tides that are swamping homes and neighborhoods. Now imagine our friends in Hobart, Tasmania gathering along the beach to mark severe erosion from a recent series of freak storms. Now, I need you to imagine a global movement, working together on one day to connect these dots -- each one a small bit of proof -- and show how climate change is a clear and present danger. On May 5, we’ll be holding a day of global witness that does just that. All around the planet, at spots where climate change is already cutting deep, people will be gathering to express their anger, and their hope that the world will find a better way. At every event, people will take a photo of a gigantic dot on a sign or banner -- each dot representing a local climate impact -- and we’ll connect up all the dots to issue a global clarion call for climate action. Click here to learn more, and start or join an event near you for Climate Impacts Day on 5/5/12: www.climatedots.org Where I live in Vermont we’ll make a human bridge to mark the real ones swept away in last fall’s record rains; in Faridabad, India, where they have the opposite problem, they’ll gather on the banks of the drying Yamuna River. From one end of the earth to the other, we’ll rally to point out that there is no longer any doubt that burning coal and gas and oil is changing our planet. (If you want to read 593 pages of backup, please refer to the huge UN report issued on climate change and weather extremes that was released this week.) We’re not doing this as a substitute for political action -- we’re in the middle of fights over everything from the Keystone XL pipeline to the Kosovo coal plant, and working hard to strip subsidies and special privileges from the fossil fuel industry around the world. But success in these fights will only come when people feel the urgency of climate change. Too often storms or droughts are seen as one-time, isolated events, even though scientist tell us they fit a pattern. We need to make that pattern visible -- to connect the dots. We need people everywhere to lead local events on the 5/5/12 -- people all over the world who can change the conversation around climate change. If your community is seeing the disastrous impacts of climate change already, we will use this day to show that there is a global movement standing beside you. If you have been lucky enough to avoid the worst impacts thus far, we need you too -- you’ll be sounding the alarm for your community, educating your friends and neighbors, and standing with our friends around the world. Click here to register an event. >From early morning on May 5, when the sun first rises in the South Pacific and our colleagues in the Marshall Islands do a daybreak dive on their damaged coral reef, we’ll be following the day around the globe, providing an endless stream of pictures and images. People around the world will upload a group photo from their local event that captures their big "climate dot.” We'll link up those images to make a gorgeous global photo mosaic that connects all the dots from places around the world. We want you to watch -- but we want you to be a part of it at some point along the day. Sign up here to register an event in your community. We’ll help you figure out what makes sense, and how to pull together the logistics, but we need your spirit of solidarity to get it going. Onwards, Bill McKibben for the whole team at 350.org P.S. Not every place is getting pounded by climate change -- so but we’re also going to try and connect some of the dots of solutions emerging around the world. So if you’ve got a hopeful energy project near you, or a beautiful community garden coming into May bloom in the northern hemisphere, get your event on the map for 5/5/12! ________________________________ 350.org is building a global movement to solve the climate crisis. Sharing for Survival recognises that official climate policy is dominated by states in thrall to fossil fuel and financial lobbies. It offers a realistic radical way to rapidly reduce emissions through stabilising the economy and ensuring social justice. Its authors explore climate policy in a way that ensures social justice and equity matter, recognising that the UNFCCC process is going nowhere. They explore the impact of fossil fuel depletion on the climate crisis, and challenge the idea that the climate crisis can be resolved in a growth economy. The book’s editor, ecological economist Brian Davey, is a long-time Feasta member and co-ordinator of the Cap and Share campaign for cutting carbon emissions. The book concludes with the final piece of work by our much-loved late colleague, Richard Douthwaite, with help from David Knight: an essay entitled “Time for some optimism about the climate crisis”. The UK launch of the book will take place on April 13th 2012 at 6:30pm at Machynlleth, Wales, as the kick-off for the Feasta Climate Group weekend (see above). There will also be a launch in Ireland in May 2012; details about that will be announced shortly. To find out more about the book please see www.sharingforsurvival.org. +U : coding android application - geolocation, gaming, and ( local ) micro-volunteering matching - Hub Westminster 30-31 March
by Dante-Gabryell Monson 28 Mar '12

28 Mar '12

in case some of us missed on this one + see event Hub Westminster 30-31 March http://www.sony.co.uk/discussions/community/en/community/better_futures/plu… +U, formerly known as Greenbook is a clever idea for an application that matches local people with local projects. Through using the latest geolocation and gaming technology, it will be designed to make volunteering quicker, easier and more social. In doing so, it has the potential to bring many new people to volunteering and change our communities and environment for the better. http://www.goodfornothing.co/2012/03/09/maketime/ Last year Sony launched Open Planet Ideas <http://www.openplanetideas.com/> an initiative we really liked the look off. Asking people to imagine how technology might help with some of the world’s most pressing environmental and social problems. They had lots if ideas submitted and one idea +U has been bought to life by Sony. +U is an Android Application that helps find quick micro-volunteering opportunities for people to help charities and causes in their local area. It has been designed with gaming and social flavours to try and encourage more people to make time for others in need. Sony is keen to open up the APP code and see makers and creators develop it to help two specific France and UK based charities as well as offering up an open challenge to see if something freerange and magic can also be created with the code. So we’re collaborating with them to host MAKE/TIME a 48 hour Making and Developing gig taking place at Hub Westminster <http://hubwestminster.net/>on the 30th/31st March We’re looking to form a small crack team of developers, designers and thinkers to make this go off. http://www.openplanetideas.com/ http://www.openplanetideas.com/+u.html http://www.landofdroid.com/2012/sony-launch-u-application-for-voluteers/ http://www.ted.com/talks/tom_chatfield_7_ways_games_reward_the_brain.html
