---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Jonathan Latham <jrlatham(a)bioscienceresource.org> Date: Tue, Nov 27, 2018 at 2:52 PM Subject: The Gates Foundation’s Ceres2030 Plan Pushes Agenda of Agribusiness To: <BSR-PROJECT-ELIST1(a)gn.apc.org> Dear Friends and Colleagues Published today (Tue Nov 27th, 2018) by *Independent Science News* *The Gates Foundation’s Ceres2030 Plan Pushes Agenda of Agribusiness* by Jonathan Latham, PhD https://www.independentsciencenews.org/environment/the-gates-foundations-ce… *Synopsis:* The Gates Foundation helps people in the South by spending money in the North, runs the joke. But is the Gates Foundation also a fauxlanthropy? In this article I show how the Gates Foundation recently started Ceres2030, a Cornell University-based project to capture the science and drive the policy agenda of agriculture and development. Ceres2030 has purchased a forthcoming special issue of prestigious *Nature* magazine that it will populate with articles and authors of its own choosing. These articles will in turn be used for future media and policy work. The evidence so far is that the goal of Ceres2030 is not sustainability but to spearhead chemical-intensive and GMO agriculture in developing countries. Please share if you find this article valuable. Fwd: Book Review: "Healing Earth"

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Hazel Henderson <hazel.henderson(a)ethicalmarkets.com> Date: Tue, Nov 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM Subject: Book Review: "Healing Earth" To: Ethical Markets <gogreen(a)ethicalmarkets.com> In these trying times we hope that this review of our Advisory Board Member, John Todd’s, “Healing Earth” will give you a joyous up lift in spirit. ~Hazel Henderson, LaRae Long and the Ethical Markets Team. [image: A close up of food Description automatically generated] [image: Hazel Henderson] <https://seekingalpha.com/author/hazel-henderson/instablogs> Hazel Henderson's Blog <https://seekingalpha.com/author/hazel-henderson/instablogs> Nov. 26, 2018 1:07 PM ET *Book Review "HEALING EARTH" By John Todd, North Atlantic Books, USA, 2018* Curling up on a quiet Sunday to read Healing Earth was deeply pleasurable. Author and pioneer biologist/ecologist Dr. John Todd has been one of my teachers over many years, along with Janine Benyus, who wrote the Foreword and is the inventor and author of “Biomimicry“ (1997). We at Ethical Markets are proud to have both of them on our global Advisory Board, along with other innovative ecologists Wes Jackson of the famed Land Institute, Allan Savory, author of “Holistic Management“(1988) and Fritjof Capra, author of “The Systems View of Life” <http://www.ethicalmarkets.com/review-of-the-systems-view-of-life-a-unifying…> (2014). Reading “Healing Earth“ also reminded me of the intellectual debts so many of us owe to meta-historian William Irwin Thompson, author of the much-awarded “At The Edge of History” (1972) and many other books, who shepherded our iconoclasms with his Lindisfarne Association. Through this fellowship since 1972, I learned from John Todd and Nancy Jack Todd, his life partner; Wes Jackson; chaos mathematician Ralph Abraham; poet Wendell Berry; biologists Lynn Margolis and James Lovelock, founders of the Gaia theory of planetary self-regulation; Stewart Brand, of Whole Earth Catalog fame; energy guru, Amory Lovins; ecologist Gregory Bateson, author of “Steps to an Ecology of Mind" (1985); anthropologist Catherine Bateson; ecologist David Orr; economist Brian Arthur, Santa Fe Institute; Michaela Walsh, founder of Women's World Banking; Governor Jerry Brown of California in his “Moonbeam” phase; Hunter Lovins, lead author of "A Finer Future" <http://www.ethicalmarkets.com/book-reviews-21-lessons-for-the-21st-century-…> (2018) and among other luminaries, Maurice Strong, UN Secretary-General of the Earth Summits in Stockholm,1972 and Rio de Janeiro, 1992, both of which I attended. In a memoir of the Lindisfarne Association "Thinking Together At The Edge of History", (2016) William Irwin Thompson chronicles our times together from 1972 until 2012, replete with many picture of us all when we were younger and prettier. John and Nancy Todd taught our Lindisfarne fellows so much with their amazing ecological designs at their famous New Alchemy Institute, founded in 1969 in Massachusetts “To Restore the Land, Protect the Seas and Inform the Earth’s Stewards“. We were enthralled to see their Living Machines, which took raw sewage, fed it through a maze of translucent tanks and pipes, carefully populated with various living organisms and ecosystems, until sparkling drinkable water gushed out of these marvelous artistic contraptions. Since then, John Todd’s creativity has helped clean up lakes, rivers and polluted canals from Massachusetts and in the Caribbean to South Africa and China. The book is full of colored illustrations of all these innovative systems, as well as ships he has designed powered only with wind and solar panels, as well as of Appalachian fields of coal mine waste Todd has restored to greenery. Throughout his career, Todd has given his time and energy to projects pro bono when funds have been unavailable. I was happy, as a judge on the Buckminster Fuller Challenge <https://www.bfi.org/challenge>to add my vote to John Todd’s winning designs. Reading this book will let you in on all these proven methods for re-designing public infrastructure, parks, restoring lakes and rivers. All use Todd’s First, Second and Third Levels of Ecological Design: First the building blocks composed of intelligent living “parent“ species which undertake the basic tasks of generating fuels, growing food, treating and recycling wastes, detoxifying dangerous organic compounds and repairing damaged ecosystems. Second: how these building blocks provide frameworks for the Third: spans of time, economics (mostly based on cooperative enterprises), institutional and social structures. Way beyond the idiocies of left and right politics, this book is a basic real world roadmap for regenerating our damaged planetary ecosystems, fostering human ingenuity and motivation while helping stabilize the Earth’s climate. I read this book in one sitting, absorbed and energized while remembering my many connections with John and Nancy Todd, as well as our shared discovery of the ground-breaking analysis of Howard T. Odum, author of Environment Power & Society (1972), with whom I had studied at the University of Florida. I was also happy to see that John Todd also references the importance of carbon farming to sequester ambient CO2 safely in the soils, as well as the need to add salt-loving halophyte food plants, such as quinoa, to human diets. Todd describes the work of Dr. Carl Hodges and his partner Dr. Elizabeth Hodges, with whom we work closely and are proud to also have on our global Advisory Board. This creative approach to saltwater agriculture is based at the University of Arizona with many experiments worldwide. These other members of Earth's plant kingdom have been ignored by our agro-chemical industrial complex and are now necessary additions to our global food systems as I point out in "Global Transition to Halophyte Agriculture May Be Inevitable" <http://www.ethicalmarkets.com/hazel-henderson-global-transition-to-halophyt…>, Green Money Journal, March 2018 and in our Green Transition Scoreboard 2018: “Capturing CO2 While improving Human Nutrition & Health“ <http://4a5qvh23tbek30e0mg42uq87.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/…>and our companion TV shows on this subject, "Investing In Desert Greening" <http://ethicalmarkets.tv/video-show/?v=2140> (2014), "Investing in Saltwater Agriculture: The Next Big Thing" <http://ethicalmarkets.tv/video-show/?v=2218> (2018). With all the bad news from the IPCC <http://ipcc.ch/report/sr15/> on the urgency of shifting from fossil fuels to cleaner greener, knowledge-richer economies worldwide and the Congressional-mandated report <https://www.noaa.gov/news/new-federal-climate-assessment-for-us-released>on how climate change’s already damaging effects in the USA, now evident in recent fires, floods, hurricanes and droughts --- reading Healing Earth will restore your spirits and help keep hope alive! Fwd: State of Blockchains - Q3 Released

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Outlier Ventures <contact(a)outlierventures.io> Date: Fri, Nov 23, 2018 at 6:34 PM Subject: State of Blockchains - Q3 Released To: <michelsub2004(a)gmail.com> Outlier Ventures Weekly Brief Issue #2 | View Online <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…> <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…> <contact(a)outlierventures.io> contact(a)outlierventures.io The Weekly Brief November 23 *The Week in Convergence* *State of Blockchains - Q3* *Markets Turn To Professionals* <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…> *What's going on?* The total market capitalisation of all actively traded tokens has reduced to a low of $141 billion from a high of close to $800 billion at the beginning of the year. While the pace and extent of the “dip” may have come as a surprise to many, *we had anticipated a winter. <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…>* The fall in token prices have also affected how startups in the space have been raising money and deploying them too. Token sale events raised a little over $1 billion this quarter, a decline of over 74% from Q1 2018. Estimates also indicate that September saw only $150 million being raised through token sales. Would this mean the ecosystem is all set for doom and gloom? Data suggests otherwise. *Our quarterly state of blockchains deck <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…>*recently explored the maturing of the ecosystem by putting venture capital in the space in the context of the changing funding landscape around token sales. Here are some key findings. 1. VC Investments have surged from a total of $900 million in 2017 to $2.85 billion this year. 2. VCs are active across all funding stages with 119 deals disclosed this quarter, the most ever as good projects 3. The US continues to dominate investments in the industry. What next? Our Partners, Eden and Aron have a few thoughts on the matter *“This quarter saw significant negative sentiment around utility tokens from an investment standpoint. Many investors have grown frustrated over-regulation and exasperated over valuations of tokenized networks. This represents a new cycle back towards equity-based blockchain investments until the crypto community makes advances in validating tokens as a new asset class with viable business models. That said, projects with well designed token economies are still finding support from the community and** increasingly from VCs.”* <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…> *- Eden Dhaliwal, <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…>* Partner and Head of Crypto-economics *“As we see the focus of early-stage investment into tokens shift away from tech-savvy retail investors toward VCs, hedge funds and ultimately larger institutional investors, we’re seeing a large growth in new businesses and services enabling the larger institutional investors to enter the space. Self-sovereignty means self-responsibility, and when your private keys are lost or stolen there is no broker to call. Institutional investors have a need to reduce that technical complexity and risk. New players solve that problem; from institutional-grade custody providers to trading platforms offered by the financial incumbents.”* *- Aron Van Ammers, <https://outlierventures.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=65ae955d98e06dbd6…>* Founding Partner of Outlier Ventures In other words, as the ecosystem matures, it is likely that traditional forms of capital play a key role in venture building and helping networks capture their initial userbases. The funding landscape within the blockchain community has consistently backed and helped scale companies that have found their product-market fits. As token sales decline in the count and raise, we will see more teams turning towards venture capital to launch their projects. Fwd: Open Value Networks update 2018/11
by Michel Bauwens 25 Nov '18

25 Nov '18

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: pos pi <pospi(a)spadgos.com> Date: Sun, Nov 25, 2018 at 10:03 AM Subject: Open Value Networks update 2018/11 To: Hi all, As things related to *Open Value Networks* seem to be cropping up all over my world at the moment, I thought I would take the liberty of sending an update on all OVN-related activity I’m in the loop about to widen your window into where these ideas are being turned into realities. Let me know if you would like to be connected with people or groups mentioned in this list and I am happy to make introductions for you (: There are a number of different projects underway building out different backend infrastructures to support the REA data model. In parallel with this, development of numerous interfaces to enable OVN-supported interactions are also underway. *On the user interface front:* My talented co-conspirator Ivan Minutillo has continued work on the OCE <https://opencoopecosystem.net/> more or less continually over the last 18 months, and an ecosystem of React-based interfaces for REA APIs is beginning to emerge. So far, all apps are built on the GraphQL APIs that myself, Lynn Foster and Bob Haugen added to OCP <https://github.com/FreedomCoop/valuenetwork> (a fork of Sensorica’s original NRP <http://nrp.sensorica.co/>) back in 2017. This provides a clean, abstract API interface that is easily workable with other future backends. The flagship OCE app is currently the so-called “agent dashboard”. On the more experimental side— Bob, Lynn and Ivan have been exploring the concept of merging social interactions and economic interactions into the same systems. This groundwork is set to lead to a new generation of more lightweight chat-like REA applications <https://ivanminutillo.com/2018/10/14/an-enconomic-markdown/>, which we hope will eventually supercede the aging, centralised and resource-heavy NRP system and its forks. *Holochain infrastructure:* I have officially resigned from ConsenSys and finish out my contract this week. David Hand, Ivan and myself have begun work on a Holochain-based implementation of the REA data model, in consultation with Bob and Lynn. This, we hope, will become the new economic protocol framework for ethical producers, organic growers, intentional communities and smart cities (but eventually production in general) to manage and share their resources. David (who was part of the team who created the original NRP) and I are investigating the systems layer and building GraphQL interfaces to Holochain such that Ivan’s existing OCP UIs can work with the new backend without alteration. Producer’s Token <https://www.producerstoken.com/> have recently gotten in touch with our team and are investigating ways they can help to support the project financially. Their initial goal is to build a platform for agricultural buyers and sellers to connect directly. *Scuttlebutt infrastructure:* Luandro Vieira continues to implement a village mesh network combined with a social-economic network. Several other people have started to use Secure Scuttlebutt <https://www.scuttlebutt.nz/> in Brazil and are connecting with Luandro. *ActivityPub infrastructure:* In the ActivityPub <https://activitypub.rocks/> space, Mayel de Borniol is back in action, and MoodleNet <https://docs.moodle.org/dev/MoodleNet> is shooting for some December and January deadlines that will tell us what we have to build on there. *Original Django infrastructure:* - FreedomCoop <http://freedomcoop.eu/> continue to push the development of new interfaces for OCP / NRP forward, along with upgrades to the backend system. - LearnDeep <http://learndeep.org/> continue their experimentation with NRP and new interfaces tailored to managing their high-school fablab project. - Macaco <http://www.macaomilano.org/> will be a new additional on-the-ground usergroup, testing Ivan’s work coordination UIs on top of OCP. - FairCoop CoopShares <https://wiki.p2pfoundation.net/FairCoop_Coopshares> is an upcoming project that both Lynn and Ivan have been involved in and may use Ivan’s UI components plus one of the new P2P infrastructures: most likely ActivityPub, but maybe Holochain, whichever is getting ready faster. It will also involve a combination of the P2P infrastructure and a blockchain, so there will be some interesting integrations to occur there. *Case studies, potential partnerships and other collaborations:* - Myself and the ConsenSys Solutions Australia team (including my flatmate Thomas Miller and friend Stephen Alexander <http://www.stephenalexander.com.au/>) are visiting the outback town of Charleville this week speaking to the local council about ways of enacting economic sovereignty using tokenized economic systems, with a view to building new government services on combinations of Ethereum and Holochain. The outcome of this will be a regional economic development & sustainability report for the Australian federal government; specifically focusing on the survival of remote farming communities critical to ensuring food security in our country. They will be consulting with a view to deploying OVN architectures in a range of problem spaces and aiming to seed new value forms within the tokenized economies favoured by the blockchain community; starting with community-owned ISPs. The framework we will be discussing is based on the following modelling, heavily influenced by the work of the Metacurrency project: [image: P_20181113_142829.jpg] - Bob has been in touch with Wim Laurier <https://www.academia.edu/33293705/A_Simulation_Model_Articulation_of_the_RE…> at his request. He has been working on REA business collaboration spaces. He’s working on some automated logic for deriving conventional accounting reports for each agent involved in an economic collaboration, from all the REA events floating through the collaboration space. He’s focused on blockchains, but his logic will work on any infrastructure. He says his logic will be declarative and will require no procedural code. - My contacts at bHive Bendigo <http://bhive.coop/> (intimately involved with Eric Doriean of AnyShare <https://app.sharing.space/login>) are looking into creating OVN networks on Holochain to power their economic coordination app toolkit. It’s likely they will end up being consumers of the system that myself, David & Ivan have just begun implementing. - The intentional community <http://lifebubbles.org/> Thomas and I live on (outdated website) is adopting OVN principles for documenting the R&D that goes in to the sustainable living experiments we are undertaking here. I plan to use this as an opportunity to dogfood *Holo-REA* as we build it. We also have good relationships with local LETS communities and other eco-villages we are looking at ways of networking and sharing resources with. - Monique Potts and her colleagues at The University of Technology Sydney Innovation & Entrepreneurship Unit have begun to experiment more earnestly with OVNs and REA modelling as part of their masters winter school programs. - Peter Morris from Geelong, near Melbourne, got in touch with me via Bob & Lynn on the topic of wanting to start a similar program at a university in Victoria. Peter has a background in the telecommunications industry so there is likely possible cross-pollination with the work Thomas and Stephen are doing. Peter’s ultimate goal is in using the data generated by REA systems as an aid in evidence-based decision-making in government policy. - I will be flying to Chiang Mai to visit Michel Bawens of the P2P Foundation in the third week of December, along with some blockchain engineers, cryptographers and hopefully members of the Circles UBI team from ConsenSys. My aim for those discussions was to lay out the designs for this network of economic networks and have Michel play devil’s advocate & domain expert along the way to a solution design; but I’m completely open to any and all additional forms of learning / exploration. Please feel free to share this with as many people as you see fit- all the above is public knowledge. The future looks bright indeed for an OVN-enabled revolution! -- Check out the Commons Transition Plan here at: http://commonstransition.org P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net <http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation>Updates: http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens #82 on the (En)Rich list: http://enrichlist.org/the-complete-list/

Deadline: 16 December 2018 With 10.000 unique visitors, 600 speakers and 18 parallel stages, re:publica is a very diverse experience – having a huge social + traditional media outreach in Germany. If you don't know the festival yet, here you'll find a first impression video: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk5yMlj5WtY> <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk5yMlj5WtY> If you have an idea for an one hour hands-on workshop, for an action/installation, for a stage talk/panel or for a potential keynote speaker, please let me know. Since January 2018 I am project lead at the non-profit Global Innovation Gathering for the Careables/Made4You EU Horizon project, the Open Hardware platform for everything health+care. So I guess there will be a few synergies given also the overlap in project partners :) In my non-work-life I help a 2-year-old discover the world and try to find the time to volunteer with “European Digital Rights” (EDRi) where I'm an observer since 2011. You can usually meet me at events like Chaos Communication Congress, in a video call or on playgrounds in Berlin. +++ And here the full text for the re:publica CfP that you can also forward to anyone who you think would be interested +++ It's time again! *The Call for Participation (CfP) for the 13th re:publica in Berlin has started*. Fwd: In memory of Margrit Kennedy

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Declan Kennedy - MONNETA Newsletter <kennedy(a)declan.de> Date: Wed, Nov 21, 2018 at 10:10 AM Subject: In memory of Margrit Kennedy To: <michelsub2004(a)gmail.com> Special MONNETA Newsletter: +++ In memory of Margrit Kennedy +++ Trouble reading this email? View it in your browser <https://mailchi.mp/3140834aaa51/monneta-newletter-damit-das-geld-uns-allen-…> <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> Dear Mr. Bauwens, today Margrit would celebrate her birthday and because of that - and considering that she has already been dead for nearly 5 years - we wanted to give you a quick update about how we continued Margrit's work on complementary currency solutions. Because today as then, the kind of money we use is a central issue on the way to a more just and equitable economy. If we succeed in creating more awareness about and alternatives to our current financial system, a lot can be improved. The charitable association MONNETA, which Margrit founded before her death together with Kathrin Latsch, has developed over the years. To reflect that also in its name, we added the line "Network for Monetary Diversity" to it in recent month. In 2015, the MONNETA Website <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> had been relaunched and now provides an excellent overview of all monetary reform proposals and explains particularly complementary currencies in an accessible way. MONNETA collaborates with other organisations like Finance Watch <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…>, or the citizens' movement Bürgerbewegung Finanzwende <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> and the German network for Pluralistic Economics <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…>. We organise public lectures, panel discussions and workshops, regularly in cooperation with universities. MONNETA also produced several new films and video interviews, which can be found in our media library <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…>. The latest one, released this summer, provides a short and concise introduction to why we and our experts are so concerned about money <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> - not the lack of it, but as a topic of education and innovation (German only, English translation coming soon). The continuation of MONNETA is financially secured - but to do more towards Margrit's hopes and ambitions MONNETA would like to develop additional activities, like a major documentary on the subject of "alternatives to the perpetual financial crises and the money of the future". For those we rely on your support! Antja, Margrit's daughter, has followed her wish and joined the MONNETA board and provides an "out-side eye" on our topics and activities. Declan supports her and Kathrin with his experience and advise - as much in regards to the long history of Margrit's work as to the future. You can also support our work through a donation <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> or by pointing others to our work, our website or this newsletter. Every donation helps and delights us! And we provide tax receipts, also to companies, if applicable in your country. If you would like to meet us at one of our events and meetings: the next will be on Friday the 22nd of February at the University of Siegen (more information on that will be published soon on our website <https://monneta.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5946820fbb88dd524bd7cc54…> ). We are always looking forward to hear from you and would be happy if you would forward this message to interested people around you! Fowles is speaking specifically about the advance of monopolies in a number of sectors of the American economy. He recounts a recent trip to America to attend a conference and lists the monopolies and quasi-monopolies he interacts with on his brief trip. The numbers speak for themselves: Apple, 62% marketshare; the three main credit card providers, American Express, Visa, and Mastercard, 95% marketshare; Google, 60% of browser marketshare. These aren’t even the most shocking numbers he cites. The picture gets even bleaker when Fowles recites a list of the largest corporations in America and reveals that 17% of the shares in these companies are owned by one or another of three investment firms: Blackrock, State Street, and Vanguard. One could extend this analysis further and consider that investment houses like the aforementioned big three, and the companies they deal with, are rated for creditworthiness by three firms: Moody’s, Standard and Poor’s, and Fitch Group (collectively, 95% marketshare). Such levels of concentration are not only staggering, but Fowles suggests, pernicious. The size of the problem, like the size of the companies that are creating it, is only growing, but Fowles podcast host Simon Long, *The Economist*'s International Editor, provide both a genealogy of an incipient crisis as well as a mercifully plausible blueprint for solving it. Indeed, Fowles suggests, the only true challenge is ensuring that there's sufficient political will to address the crisis. Unlikely? Perhaps, but having listened to this call to arms by market-loving capitalists against a galloping capitalist dystopia, one is left with a genuine sense of hope that anything is possible. <https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Monopolies%20And%20%22Capitalist%20Dy…> <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.facebook.com?p=eyJzIjoiU1d…> <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.piqd.com?p=eyJzIjoiVmhCbWJ…> <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.piqd.com?p=eyJzIjoiU3VFOFR…> Source: The Economist | soundcloud.com on 11/13/2018 | Image: The Economist Podcast | Language: EN Money talks: Monopolies and boardroom games by The Economist Read article <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.piqd.com?p=eyJzIjoiU3VFOFR…> Your newsletter Not enough information in your newsletter? Fwd: Shrinking Space and the BDS movement (new report out now)

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Frank Barat <russelltribunaluk(a)gmail.com> Date: Thu, Nov 15, 2018 at 9:10 AM Subject: Shrinking Space and the BDS movement (new report out now) To: Frank Barat <russelltribunaluk(a)gmail.com> A widening pattern of repression of social movements has taken shape around the world. Everywhere, space for dissent is shrinking rapidly. Governments and corporations alike are working to suppress and silence movements, organisations and individuals who organise against repression. This shrinking of public space threatens virtually all social movements. Around the world, the legality, physical safety, and public access of dissident movements and civil society more broadly are being threatened. *This report* ( https://www.tni.org/en/publication/shrinking-space-and-the-bds-movement) examines the legal and political pressure exerted on the *Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement*, a global campaign aimed at pressuring Israel to end human rights violations, launched in 2005 by a group of Palestinian activists. *Share widely*, thanks!
