Hello, I would like to recommend watching this 15min video: http://youtu.be/fvjSHG38dfc "Prof. Franz Hörmann is Assistant Professor and Lecturer at the department for Business Taxation and Tax Planning, of the Department for Accounting at the University of Economics and Business Administration, Vienna. Works on further development of the semantical accounting theory, an approach studying accounting information systems from a linguistic perspective (the main proponents being Yuji Ijiri, Ahmed Riahi-Belkaoui). The results of those researches should lead towards more usable accounting information systems in the future, resulting in knowledge management in the fields of accounting and semantic business modelling using predicate logic. Development of network-based cooperative software tools for "Economy 2.0"." =) ~ elf Pavlik ~ -- (living strictly moneyless already for over 2 years) http://wwelves.org/perpetual-tripper http://moneyless.info http://hackers4peace.net

Fwd: Momentum accounting and triple-entry bookkeeping

In regular, double-entry bookkeeping, changes in balances such as earning revenues and collecting cash are recorded. These events are recorded with two entries, usually a debit and a credit, assigned on a given date. In momentum accounting, changes in balances are the recognized events. For example, an acceleration in revenue earning, such as a $1,000 per period increase of revenues from $10,000 per month to $11,000 per month, is a recordable event that would require three entries to implement. -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net Connect: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com; Discuss: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation Updates: http://del.icio.us/mbauwens; http://friendfeed.com/mbauwens; http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: iMAL announce <anons-listeke(a)lists.imal.org> Date: Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 10:47 PM Subject: [iMAL news] Generator.x 3.0: from Code to Atoms, a Digital Fabrication masterclass with Marius Watz. Call is Open! To: anons-listeke(a)lists.imal.org ** [image: iMAL - Centre for Digital Cultures and Technology presents] [image: Generator.x 3.0 : From code to atoms] <http://www.imal.org/en/activity/generatorx3> [image: An openLAB Masterclass with Marius Watz] Call for participation deadline : January 20th! Workshop / Production Lab: February 18-24th Exhibition: February 25-26th This openLAB is the first masterclass on Digital Fabrication at iMAL in Brussels. With an emphasis on forms generated by code, it will end with an exhibition of the works produced by the participants. Participants will explore how software processes can be combined with digital fabrication to produce physical objects that are the result of dynamic software systems, opening new fields for artists, designers and other creative people. Specifically, we will look at how generative systems can be used to create objects according to a programmed logic, allowing for great complexity and a semi-automated model of creativity. Generator.x This openLAB is the evolution of Generator.x 2.0: Beyond the Screen<http://www.generatorx.no/20071130/generatorx-20-call/>, a workshop and exhibition that took place in Berlin during Transmediale 2008. Generator.x is a curatorial platform set up by Marius Watz to explore the implications of computational aesthetics, and these workshops are intended to function both as discourse and practice. For this 2012 edition in Brussels we propose to use the latest low-cost 3D Printers (Makerbots <http://www.makerbot.com/>) as well as a large and powerful laser cutter machine. The main software tool will be Processing<http://www.processing.org>, but we also welcome users of other tools like VVVV, PD or OpenFrameworks. The workshop will be hands-on and geared towards producing projects ready for exhibition at the end of the project. Participants will be expected to be familiar with code and generative strategies. There will be short tutorials demonstrating certain techniques, but the main focus is on the participants' own work. Marius Watz Marius Watz <http://mariuswatz.com/> is a Norwegian artist working with visual abstraction through generative systems. An autodidact, he quit his Computer Science studies to pursue visual work based on code. He is known for his bold use of colors and hard-edged geometric compositions. Recently he has been exploring digital fabrication technologies to create complex abstract forms and structures, synthesizing form as the product of parametric behaviors and freezing ephemeral data structures into solid form. The banks […] were effectively walking around with bombs on them all the time.” *– Yves Smith, *The Bull Laid Bear. * In their second collaborative film Zanny Begg (Sydney) and Oliver Ressler (Vienna) focus on the financial and economic crisis post 2008. *The Bull Laid Bear* “lays bare” the economic recession (bear market) that hides behind each boom time (bull market). The film pokes fun at the slippery justifications made for the bailouts and austerity packages by exploring how governments in the United States, and other countries such as Ireland, turned a banking crisis into a budgetary crisis at the governmental level. *The Bull Laid Bear* is structured around a series of interviews with US economists and activists including: William K. Black, a white-collar criminologist; Yves Smith, the author of the blog *Naked Capitalism*; Tiffiniy Cheng, campaign coordinator for A New Way Forward; and Gerald Epstein co-director of the Political Economy Research Institute in Amherst, MA. The material gathered from these four interviewees has been blended with hand drawn animations to create a quasi-fictitious criminal world of gangster bankers and corrupt courts. Sydney based performer Singing Sadie provides a sound track for the film with a reinterpretation of Billie Holiday’s classic lament on money, *God Bless The Child*. *The Bull Laid Bear* probes our collective “beliefs” in financial markets, unravelling responsibility for the 2008 financial meltdown and looking at some of the causes of the spiralling economic crisis in Europe. Concept, film editing and production: Zanny Begg & Oliver Ressler Animation and drawings: Zanny Begg Camera and interviews: Oliver Ressler Vocals: Singing Sadie Piano: Mick Hana Other music: Captain Ahab Camera Singing Sadie: Arunas Klupsas Sound Singing Sadie: Jon Hunter Sound and image editing: Rudi Gottsberger Special thanks to Nancy Folbre, Brian Holmes, Jon Hunter, Pascal Jurt, Arunas Klupsas and Singing Sadie. Fwd: Surprising Research on Gift Giving

Researchers in the field of consciousness studies have found that* giving is good for you <http://trans.noetic.org/site/R?i=KnpIzwroqKTIZMeOsK83RQ>*—for your health, your happiness, and your sense of purpose! Consciousness research, which has been studying the science of giving for decades, has taught us that *giving and receiving are among the most healing expressions* that humans can make. They can help heal the separateness we often feel from ourselves, each other, and the environment. According to IONS-sponsored research, *acts of altruism can elicit a positive immune system response:* - Dr. Jeff Levin, an epidemiologist, found that a correlation exists between almost every dimension of love and patients’ descriptions of better health, more positive emotional well–being, higher self–esteem, and a sense of personal control in their lives. - Results of IONS’ Compassionate Intention Study *suggest that loving or compassionate intention can influence a person’s physiology*, ranging from brain activity measurements to skin conductance. Research by IONS colleague Dr. Stephen Post, professor of bioethics at Case Western Reserve University and president of the Institute for Research on Unlimited Love, suggests a strong correlation between a person’s well-being and their inclination toward altruistic acts. An especially compelling study conducted by Dr. Dean Ornish demonstrated that feelings of increased interconnectedness with others can change gene expression, making relationships critical to health and well–being. *Your contribution to IONS<http://trans.noetic.org/site/R?i=-X03q7siFy45xa7HtVtGBg>helps bring these ideas into the world *. Be part of this new story of our human potential by giving to an organization that supports the advancement of our fundamental interconnectedness!
