After all, we live in challenging times nowadays. Luckily, where there are challenges, also opportunities arise. One of these opportunities is to explore crossovers and find common ground between present-day phenomena, in this case between the *circular economy* and the *collaborative (sharing) economy*. This is why we, together with our project partners ESPON <http://espon.eu/sharing>, VVA <http://vva.it/> and ÖIR <https://www.oir.at/en>, analysed and now published the impacts of the 'circular collaborative economy' in several cities and regions across the European Union: The Hague, Maribor, Porto, Prato, Flanders and Greece. We hereby cordially invite you to have a look at the research report and the insights coming from it. The *key takeaways* all in one place (reading time less than 5 minutes): http://collaborativexcircular.com/keymessages. <http://collaborativexcircular.com/keymessages> Entire website dedicated to this research: http://collaborativexcircular.com . We would appreciate it if you could share this email with colleagues and others who might find this research report and the outcomes relevant. Please feel free to also share it via online and/or social media. You might consider looking at some posts we already created during the past days and use these as inspiration: http://twitter.com/share_NL and http://linkedin.com/company/shareNL. Fwd: My Latest: "BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE" - united front against fascism

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: William Robinson <w.i.robinson1(a)gmail.com> Date: Tue, Jun 2, 2020 at 2:55 AM Subject: My Latest: "BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE" - united front against fascism To: william robinson <w.i.robinson1(a)gmail.com> (Please excuse the double posting for those who read my Facebook blog: I normally do not send to this list serve commentaries that I post on that blog but I make an exception in this case) Dear friends, Some of you are new to this listserve. I send occasional articles and commentaries (about 10 per year) mostly my own writing, most of them in English and some in Spanish. *We are all inundated with emails and I will absolutely not be offended if you ask me to take you off this list.* Algunos de ustedes son nuevos a esta lista. Envío unos 10 artículos y comentarios al año, la mayoría en inglés y algunos en español. Sé que somos inundados por correos y en absoluto no estaré ofendido si prefiere le quité de la lista. * My Facebook blog page is https://www.facebook.com/WilliamIRobinsonSociologist/ <https://www.facebook.com/WilliamIRobinsonSociologist/>. * ----------------- BEAUTIFUL STRUGGLE: William I. Robinson Racist police, as foul and criminal as they are, are but an extension of the capitalist state. They exist to defend property from the propertyless, to enforce the power of capital and the rich over the poor and dispossessed majority who in the United States come disproportionately from racially oppressed communities. Behind the eruption of righteous rage over the murder of George Floyd is mass unemployment, escalating inequality, the marginality of tens of millions of people thrown into the ranks of surplus labor, intensified levels of exploitation, spreading hunger, immiseration, insecurity, and death, all spewed up by a global capitalism that accepts no restraint on its predation. I have been warning since the mid-2000s about the dangers of a 21st century fascism and global police state in response to the crisis of capitalism and rebellion from below. Global capitalism is arguable now in the worst crisis in its history. Fascist forces that bring together predatory transnational capital with reactionary and repressive power in the state (including the state’s armed bodies) and a fascist mobilization in civil society are on the rise worldwide. Trump, himself a transnational capitalist, a racist, and a fascist, is taking advantage of the protests over the murder of George Floyd to bring this project to a new level, inciting from the White House itself the fascist mobilization in civil society and threatening a qualitative escalation of the police state. There are agent provocateurs. The state may use them, now or at some future point, to declare martial law and intensify repression, both legal and martial. As is now well known, the new brownshirts – a reference to the Nazi Party’s original paramilitary wing during the years leading up to the fascist takeover – in the white nationalist militia, the Nazi and Klan groups, anti-immigrant organization, the “Boogaloos,” the Patriot and anti-lockdown movements, among an expanding litany of far-right and Alt-Right groups, are heavily armed and mobilizing for confrontation in near-perfect consort with the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party, which long since has captured that party and turned it into one of utter reaction. The social order is coming apart at the seams but a fascist takeover is far from inevitable. We urgently need a united front against fascism that places ant-racism and anti-capitalism at its center and that seeks to mount a revolutionary challenge to capitalist state power. The current uprising, to the extent that it helps to radicalize the new generation of young people leading the protests, may contribute to a critical accumulation of forces from below that could push us further in the direction. Fwd: Try these prescriptions for economic renewal

Johanna Bozuwa on making public utilities public. An interactive nationalization timeline. The latest from The Next System Project *Transformative cures for a sick economy* <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> This week The Next System Project launches “Beyond COVID-19: Prescriptions for Economic Renewal,” <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> an ongoing symposium of bold ideas for building a new economy from the wreckage of the old. As states resume economic activity after two months under lockdown, the pressure is on to restore the old economy, and with it all of the old inequities and perils to people and planet. Our “Prescriptions” series provokes an urgent debate on how to prevent further harms today and to build a more just and sustainable economy in the months ahead. Our first set of prescriptions: - *Cancel rent and mortgage payments, house the unhoused <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* - *Create a state holding company to prevent the leveraged buyout of the real economy <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* - *Launch a new era of community wealth building <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* - *Let the people design a green stimulus <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* - *Use the post office as a banking lifeline <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* - *Create a “VA for all” <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…>* See our Prescriptions... <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> *Make public services truly public* <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> Climate and energy researcher Johanna Bozuwa's essay for *Progressive International's* “Blueprint” series argues that any plan for economic renewal “must treat access to basic services like energy and water systems as human rights and public goods, not as commodities to be bought and sold on private markets.” To accomplish that goal, as well as to ensure that our energy and water needs are delivered in a way that protects the planet and rectifies historic inequities, she writes that “we need to reclaim and rebuild our public services.” Read the essay... <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> *A timeline of the move to nationalize fossil fuels* <https://community-wealth.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=e51d2c7d40bc9992…> During a remarkable two-month period in which the price of oil at one point literally fell below zero, the argument for nationalizing the fossil fuel industry took on a new resonance. Researcher Juliana Broad has constructed a fascinating, blow-by-blow interactive timeline that captures how an idea on the left edge of public debate gained increased traction in the political debate. Fwd: A global crisis demands a global response! Here a recap of our Viral Response Roundtable series
by Michel Bauwens 01 Jun '20

01 Jun '20

fyi ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Carolina from Wikifactory <carol(a)wikifactory.com> Date: Sat., 30 May 2020, 00:57 Subject: A global crisis demands a global response! Here a recap of our Viral Response Roundtable series To: <jose(a)actionforesight.net> Hi Jose! A few weeks ago, we launched our Viral Response Roundtable series. Hosted by Wikifactory co-founder Christina Rebel, these sessions bring together experts and community members to share insights and learning from diverse perspectives. Here is a recap of what we have learned so far: Wikifactory set the stage by setting out *why we launched the **Viral Response platform*. <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=SvjDZA%2BcDpD…> Therefore, our first session was on focused on *Collaborative Innovation for Future Resilience.* Among many other things that were discussed, we learned that *simple designs can be the most effective ones*, *as they can be easily replicated*. Furthermore, *the importance of speed* when supporting those in need when the supply chains fail us, and related to that, the importance innovating globally but producing locally through a global community and digital fabrication technologies. The final questions and conclusion focused on possibilities of what the future holds for this industry - that is, how it will have to move and work together with the collaboration of experts from other industries. In the second session, we deepened the discussion with one of the most recurring themes in the open hardware community: *funding*. This time, and considering how fast we need to act when fighting COVID-19, *we invited founders of non-profit open initiatives and experts involved in EU funded projects*. We learned from Jon Schull, founder of *E-Nable* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=7dWUMIoT%2F94…>, that they work with a *global online community that produces freely donated devices* allowing them to work with no funding, reaching a much larger audience. Other solutions focused on investment funding and collaborating with other institutions, although *proof and results are a must* in that case, and how it is necessary to *learn how to communicate about projects in order to attract experts* from other fields. Moving on to our third session, there were shared perspectives on *community building for open hardware projects*. The main insights included the importance of self-organisation within the maker communities, and once this structure is defined, there is a need to determine the role of each player within the project, and to attract *experts from the manufacturing, legal and medical fields*. Furthermore, often many groups *don't communicate with each other* and end up designing things that have already been created. Therefore, Slack was mentioned as a great tool to connect initiatives and communicate within smaller groups. Requirements need to be defined from the start, avoiding inefficiencies. Helpful Engineering even established a *selection process based on the team's experience, impact and scalability*. Once a project is accepted, it enters an incubation process where it receives supports from experts to define the requirements, evaluate funding opportunities and recruit new team members. However, *how do you sustain this once the hype dies down and "normality" returns?* More critically, how do you build on what was been learned, so the world is better prepared in the future? Oscar Velazquez talked about building long-term solutions, and how *Impact MX* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=HS1FIZmMkWGNq…> is funding projects focused on preparing for the New Normal. Tom Salfield, CEO of Wikifactory, emphasized that we need *new business models that can be easily adopted in this context* and to make visible the success stories that show what's possible. We would also like to thank *Brynmor John* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=bxd2WCu272CIo…>, *Dr David Alkaher* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=YcTRMxg%2FVyc…>, *Brian Berletic* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=5KxaN2kG9TR9z…>, *Denis Fuzi* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=kzk2%2B3BzanB…>, *Tauan Bernardo* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=xqhBp5Lt2f7Rg…>, *Guillermo Martínez* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=7r9NkzD1F5P9J…>, *Diego Trapero* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=PtssZ9AkXckm0…>, *Jon Schull* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=%2BnwfskKFcr8…>, *Kate Armstrong* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=35axdHgs01s5G…>, *Robert Mies* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=scfg8Q9Ddv3aA…> , *Roisin Lyons* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=oUqbl8j%2BqM0…>, *Nathan Parker* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=U2aRziYxwYhX0…>, *Oscar Velazquez* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=vLSD9bTJjWTpn…>, *Barbara Kieslinger* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=XoBt0XG0EhmWq…>, *Barry Watkins* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=dZU4eH%2F2CJz…> and our co-founders *Christina Rebel* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=ekLdbGdSJ853U…> and *Tom Salfield* <https://wikifactory-24be178391b8.intercom-clicks.com/via/e?ob=XHcH95K19tmqE…> for taking part in these inspiring sessions. Fwd: Right-wing Infiltrators Burn Minneapolis Hoping to De-legitimate African Americans' Struggle for Justice
by Michel Bauwens 01 Jun '20

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Tikkun & the Network of Spiritual Progressives <rabbilerner(a)tikkun.org > Date: Mon, Jun 1, 2020 at 2:35 AM Subject: Right-wing Infiltrators Burn Minneapolis Hoping to De-legitimate African Americans' Struggle for Justice To: Michel Bauwens <michelsub2004(a)gmail.com> Right-Wing Infiltrators Burn Minneapolis Hoping to De-legitimate African Americans' Struggle for Justice by Rabbi Michael Lerner & Cat Zavis [image: Justice for George Floyd and Breonna Taylor] {You can read this article online here <https://default.salsalabs.org/Ta94d3757-956d-436e-9b32-f70e0d36c4fb/c02a818…> .} We at *Tikkun *and the Network of Spiritual Progressives stand in solidarity with the protestors in Minneapolis and around the country fighting a just and righteous struggle for the lives of Black Americans. The killing of African Americans by police and others and the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on African Americans and all communities of color are part of the ongoing legacy of slavery and systemic racism that leads to state violence against black and brown people. Our tradition teaches us that “one shall not stand idly by the blood of our fellow humans.” Many police departments in this country have a strong coterie of racist police. We are happy to see the police officers in a variety cities across the country standing in solidarity with Black protestors. <https://default.salsalabs.org/T1800be29-574d-4ad0-b789-37dd6e03d154/c02a818…> Unfortunately, they are a minority. At a minimum, racist police officers must be purged from the police departments and those in police departments who are aware of and tolerate racism in their department and do not expose and combat it must also be fired. In addition, every single police department throughout the country should be supervised by a community-based overseer board with a majority of African American activists. *We need your support to bring the kind of analyses and information *Tikkun* provides. * *Click here <https://default.salsalabs.org/T146626fa-37e4-4db4-8973-ee96370c331f/c02a818…> to make a tax-deductible contribution.* The media has largely obscured the fact that much of the violent protests are instigated by white neo-Nazis and nationalist extremists so as to discredit the legitimate outrage of American Americans and their allies. They instead portray the protests as African Americans destroying their own communities and communities nearby. We stand in solidarity with the protestors. Please read the statement below by Minnesota State Attorney General Keith Ellison, a long-time friend and supporter of *Tikkun*. He makes it clear that the destruction and violence in Minneapolis is being coordinated and led by outside agitators. - The full clip of the AG's remarks is on Twitter here (3:54): https://twitter.com/AGEllison/status/1266782943483215875 <https://default.salsalabs.org/T1ae2bdbf-f246-4745-9802-89a31659910f/c02a818…> *Statement from Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison*: I’m going to be real clear: we need your help to comply with the curfew. Straight up. Anybody’s unclear about what we’re asking for, that is what we’re asking for. Ok, why? Because the people who are trying to tarnish the reputation of the noble protests for justice are out there trying to mix in with the crowd so that people will just say, “Oh, look at all those folks out there are just bad, their cause can’t be just, they’re just out there causing trouble.” We know that’s not what’s happening. We know that the noble, just aims of the protestors are righteous and good. But we also know that some evil elements are literally interfusing themselves with the protestors to destroy and cause arson so that the whole community will have a low opinion of the protests. Because they’re not for justice for Mr. Floyd, they’re against it. And they know that if we protest righteously and peacefully and justly, public sentiment will rise up to support our demands. So they want to stop that. So we need people to help us get off the streets. You can go on social media, you can protest there, you can do all these things. But to be on the street after 8:00 means that we can’t get you separated from the bad people. So we know you’re brave, we know you’re strong, we know you’d never compromise on justice, we know you’re righteous, and we believe in what you’re doing — but we need to be able to stop the burning and the looting and the destruction. We have some great leaders around this room. I know them all, love them all. And I want to speak to the protestors: I love you. Many of them wanted to be here today: when we called them, they said, “Hey, we’re with the Governor, we believe in what you’re doing, but we’re on the streets trying to restore order and raise the issue of George Floyd. So we can’t come in because we’re on the street, but we want you to know we’re with you.” That is a fact. One officer has been arrested: charged with murder. It’s a preliminary complaint, it’s still going on. As a lawyer, I can tell you: complaints are amended, charges could be increased, there could be something added, there might other people who will be charged as well, we’re at the beginning of this. As a signal to you that we know there is probable cause to support this complaint and the wheels of justice are moving, and now they’re moving swiftly. But we need you to help us, make sure that justice is done. And we know that yes, we will invest to rebuild to our communities. *What in the world does burning down Migizi and Juxtaposition Arts on the Northside have to do with justice for Floyd? Nothing!* *I want to be clear: let the National Guard have the street after 8:00 so that we can make sure that we restore order and build justice.* *__* *Rabbi Michael Lerner *is editor of *Tikkun* magazine and author of 12 books, recently *Revolutionary Love*.
