while there may be talk regarding politics,
this thread ( and others ) reminds me of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Pournelle#Iron_Law_of_Bureaucracy
"Pournelle's Iron Law of
Bureaucracy"<http://www.jerrypournelle.com/archives2/archives2mail/mail408.html#Iron>
:
In any bureaucracy, the people devoted to the benefit of the bureaucracy
itself always get in control and those dedicated to the goals the
bureaucracy is supposed to accomplish have less and less influence, and
sometimes are eliminated entirely.
He has restated <http://www.jerrypournelle.com/reports/jerryp/iron.html> it
as:
...in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people:
those who work to further the actual goals of the organization, and those
who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be
teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, vs. union
representatives who work to protect any teacher including the most
incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases, the second type of
person will always gain control of the organization, and will always write
the rules under which the organization functions.
This can be compared to the Iron law of
oligarchy<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_law_of_oligarchy>.
His blog, "The View from Chaos Manor", often references apparent examples
of the law.

Subject: "camaraderie amoureuse"
To: "econowmix(a)googlegroups.com" <econowmix(a)googlegroups.com>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex
The main propagandist of free love within European individualist
anarchism<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_individualist_anarchism>
was Emile Armand
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emile_Armand>.[16]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex#c…>He
advocated naturism <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturism> (see
anarcho-naturism <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarcho-naturism>) and
polyamory <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyamory> and he came up with the
concept of *la camaraderie
amoureuse*.[17]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex#c…>
He
wrote many propagandist articles on this subject such as "De la liberté
sexuelle" (1907) where he advocated not only a vague free love but also
multiple partners, which he called "plural
love".[17]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex#c…>
In
the individualist anarchist journal *L'en dehors
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27en_dehors>* he and others continued in
this way. Armand seized this opportunity to outline his theses supporting
revolutionary sexualism and "camaraderie amoureuse" that differed from the
traditional views of the partisans of free love in several respects.
Later Armand submitted that from an individualist perspective nothing was
reprehensible about making "love", even if one did not have very strong
feelings for one's
partner.[17]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex#c…>
"The
camaraderie amoureuse thesis", he explained, "entails a free contract of
association (that may be annulled without notice, following prior
agreement) reached between anarchist individualists of different genders,
adhering to the necessary standards of sexual hygiene, with a view toward
protecting the other parties to the contract from certain risks of the
amorous experience, such as rejection, rupture, exclusivism,
possessiveness, unicity, coquetry, whims, indifference, flirtatiousness,
disregard for others, and
prostitution."[17]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism_and_issues_related_to_love_and_sex#c…>
He
also published *Le Combat contre la jalousie et le sexualisme
révolutionnaire* (1926), followed over the years by *Ce que nous entendons
par liberté de l'amour*(1928), *La Camaraderie amoureuse ou “chiennerie
sexuelle”* (1930), and, finally, *La Révolution sexuelle et la camaraderie
amoureuse* (1934), a book of nearly 350 pages comprising most of his
writings on sexuality

Baker<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011bm5ey4NletoCUDqX6uKPRJ2JPTi_YcXGQHKsrTImW4Q…>believes
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011bm5ey4NletoCUDqX6uKPRJ2JPTi_YcXGQHKsrTImW4Q…>
that
most of today's leadership theories are old wines in new skins and still
rely on the leader-follower hierarchy. Yet hierarchy is breaking down
everywhere in society, from politics to religion to social relationships --
and most particularly in computers and networking.
Baker's inspiration is the peer-to-peer model of
computing<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011bm5ey4NletoCUDqX6uKPRJ2JPTi_YcXGQHKsrTImW4Q…>,
which is also mirrored in social networking technologies where a network
with "equipotent" nodes of power -- think peer leaders -- is infinitely
more powerful than a "client-server" (i.e., leader-follower) network. By
creating organizations with leaders at all levels, architects of
peer-to-peer organizations can build flexibility, resiliency, and
accountability.

Results<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011bm5ey4NletoCUDqX6uKPRJ2JPTi_YcXGQHKsrTImW4Q…>
*Why Read It? *Over a decade ago, Kim
Cameron<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=0011bm5ey4NletoCUDqX6uKPRJ2JPTi_YcXGQHKsrTImW4Q…>and
his colleagues decided that rather than analyze what went terribly
wrong with organizations and how to prevent it, they would look at what
went extraordinarily right and how to replicate it. This research was the
birth of positive organizational scholarship, a new field that focused on
what they called "positive deviance" -- outcomes that far exceeded normal
success.
In his previous book *Positive Leadership*, Cameron outlined four
leadership strategies -- Positive Climate, Positive Relationships, Positive
Communications, and Positive Meaning -- that characterize exceptionally
high-performing organizations. Here he takes these strategies further by

explore leadership and the different, practical ways of leading.
Mila Baker's model for peer-to-peer leadership is groundbreaking because of
its effective application of a seemingly unrelated subject to leadership.

According to the classified documents leaked by Snowden, the Australian
Signals Directorate<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Signals_Directorate>,
formerly known as the Defence Signals Directorate, had offered to share
information on Australian citizens with the other intelligence agencies of
the UKUSA Agreement <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UKUSA_Agreement>. Data
shared with foreign countries include "bulk, unselected, unminimised
metadata" such as "medical, legal or religious
information".[184]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_surveillance_disclosure#cite_note-guard…>
*The Washington Post
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Washington_Post>* revealed
that the NSA has been tracking the locations of mobile phones from all over
the world by tapping into the cables that connect mobile networks globally
and that serve U.S. cellphones as well as foreign ones. In the process of
doing so, the NSA collects more than 5 billion records of phone locations
on a daily basis. This enables NSA analysts to map cellphone owners’
relationships by correlating their patterns of movement over time with
thousands or millions of other phone users who cross their
paths.[185]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_surveillance_disclosure#cite_note-wapo5…>

Final Adoption of Generalised Surveillance in France: a Disturbing
Political Drift
*** Paris, 19 December 2013 — The French President promulgated [1] the
2014-2019 Defense Bill last night. Adoption of article 20 (former article
13) opening the door to generalized surveillance of communications and the
failure to request its constitutional challenge demonstrate the deep crisis
of a political system which does not hesitate anymore to massively
compromise fundamental rights. La Quadrature du Net thanks all those who
contributed to oppose this article. It calls for the continuation of the
fight against surveillance of our communications on the Internet, by any
means: before Parliament or judges, through technology and usage choices.
***
The French 2014-2019 Defense Bill [2] has been officially published last
night in the Journal Officiel. Its article 20 (former article 13) opens the
way to generalised surveillance of online information and communications,
notably through live capturing of data from hosting services and Internet
service providers and for purposes going way beyond the mere national
security.
The adoption of this article – with its ambiguous wording and misleading
place in a Defense Bill meant to schedule the military budget – and the
faillure to obtain its constitutional review reflect the deep crisis
democratic representation is going through, failling to protect citizens
fundamental rights. This Bill has been unanimously adopted by François
Hollande's left wing party – Parliament's majority group –, despite wide
inner divisions on article 20 and a previous opposition on similar but
temporary and less harmful texts in 2006 and 2008. The right wing,
ecologists and the far-left voted against the Bill in both chambers.
However, once the Bill was adopted, despite the strong citizen mobilization
and numerous warnings [3] by various organizations [4], political divisions
and group discipline prevented the collection of the 60 signatures required
to call upon the Conseil Constitutionnel (French constitutional court) to
review any new law. A strict party discipline from the left-wing majority
party (PS), sectarianism from the right-wing party (UMP) refusing to sign
together with green and far-left groups, and an aggressive campaign by the
leader of the right-wing group against its MPs signing the request, will be
remembered as symbols of the drift toward a post-democratic system.
Many other steps will enable citizens to continue the fight against the
development of a generalised surveillance, which has become a tool for
political powers unable to act for the common good. In legal terms, the
future publication of the Decree by the Conseil d'État (Highest
administrative court) and announced French laws on intelligence and
freedoms online will provide new opportunities for discussion, decision,
and challenge. But it is on the political and usage fronts that our rights
and freedoms will be determined.
“With the others associations of defense of human rights and freedoms who
have acted on this issue, we will campaign restlessly against surveillance
and these violations of the separation of powers. We call for a strong
affirmation of the role of the judiciary, of the right to privacy and of
the individuals freedoms in the upcoming laws, and any form of challenge”
concludes Jérémie Zimmermann, cofounder and spokesperson of La Quadrature
du Net.
“A balance of rights can only be restored if citizens strongly demonstrate
that there is no democracy or human beings free to express themselves in a
surveillance State, and if everyone, in their choices of services, tools
and usage, reclaims what we abandoned to centralized operators” concludes
Phillipe Aigrain, cofounder of La Quadrature du Net.

Fundamental Cultural Rights Must be at the Heart of Copyright Reform in
Europe!
*** Paris, 23 December 2013 — For the third time in as many years the
European Commission has launched a public consultation [1] on copyright in
the European internal market. Despite the unambiguous signal sent by civil
society and Members of the European Parliament through the rejection of the
ACTA treaty in 2012, the Commission keeps ignoring the primary need to
place the fundamental cultural rights of individuals at the heart of
copyright reform. La Quadrature du Net calls on all citizens and
organisations to respond to this public consultation in order to scrutinise
the current approach and to push proposals that are in favour of a positive
reform of copyright adapting it to the digital environment. ***
Divorced from expectations of their citizens, the main objective of the
European Commission in this consultation remains “whether further measures
[…] need to be taken at EU level […] to increase the cross-border
availability of content services in the Single Market, while ensuring an
adequate level of protection for right holders”. Furthermore, the
Commission places this consultation within the same process as Licences for
Europe which was marked by a failure [2] last November. This public
consultation continues to propose simple contractual solutions to address
the digital environment whereas a revision of the basic principles of
copyright law enshrined in the 2001/29 directive is today more than ever in
order.
** Fundamental cultural rights ignored **
The European Commission addresses a large number of questions in this
public consultation, but a most important question is swept under the
carpet: The recognition of each individual’s cultural rights. For example,
no questions are raised over the use of DRMs (Digital Rights Management).
These "digital handcuffs" have, since their establishment in 2001,
restricted the rights of individuals over cultural content acquired by them.
More importantly, the European Commission fails to address the question of
non-commercial online sharing of copyrighted material between individuals
even though this represents one of the most pressing issues that any
process to adapt copyright to the digital environment must faced with today.
These questions are at the heart of the programme of positive copyright
reform [3] proposed by La Quadrature du Net. The last section of the public
consultation entitled “Other issues”, allows answers to be submitted on
questions that should have been the Commission's main preoccupation!
** Some dangerous directions that need to be countered **
Moreover, several aspects of the public consultation could seriously
undermine values allowing the functionme the principles and values on which
the Internet is built. An example can be found in the Commission’s
questions: “Should the provision of a hyperlink leading to a work or other
subject matter protected under copyright […] be subject to the
authorisation of the rightholder?” and “Should the viewing of a web-page
where this implies the temporary reproduction of a work or other subject
matter protected under copyright on the screen and in the cache memory of
the user’s computer […] be subject to the authorisation of the
rightholder?”. Limiting the freedom to link to or to consult a website –
already attacked in Germany through the "link tax" or "Google tax" earlier
this year and in the United Kingdom [4] – would represent a major
regression.
But the most dangerous paragraphs in the public consultation are to be
found in section IV, “Respect for rights”. The Commission asks whether “the
current legal framework [is] clear enough to allow for sufficient
involvement of intermediaries (such as Internet service providers,
advertising brokers, payment service providers, domain name registrars,
etc.) in inhibiting online copyright infringements with a commercial
purpose” and “If not, what measures would be useful to foster the
cooperation of intermediaries?". The desire to involve and make responsible
technical intermediaries, which was also at the heart of SOPA and ACTA, can
be clearly seen here.
On all these points, La Quadrature calls on citizens and citizen
organisations to express their disagreement with these regressive and
repressive measures!
** Advocating for positive reform **
However, the Commission also considers several issues that represent
opportunities for a positive reform of copyright in Europe. The Commission
asks whether the term of protection should be reduced and considers the
idea of a system of registration. Both measures would reinforce the public
domain in Europe. Moreover, the Commission asks whether limitations and
exceptions to copyright should be further harmonised across countries,
especially for the benefit of educational uses, research, of cultural
institutions, persons with disabilities, and for innovation such as data
mining or user-generated content (remix, mashup).
On all these points, it is essential that civil society, individuals and
public and private institutions demand a greater flexibility in the
European legislative framework.
The response by La Quadature du Net will be based on the Elements for the
reform of copyright and related cultural policies [3]. It is unlikely that
the current Commission will be able to start the reform process effectively
due to approaching elections. It is however important that the new
Commission receives from day one a strong signal in favour of a positive
reform of the 2001 directive and this consultation provides the opportunity
to provide it!
“The European Union can no longer prevent genuine copyright reform that
takes into account the fundamental cultural rights of individuals while
putting an end to the repressive spiral of the last few years”, concludes
Philippe Aigrain, cofounder of La Quadrature du Net.
”Without an important mobilisation by civil society this process set in
motion by the Commission may lead to a regression. But all across Europe
citizen organisations are suggesting positive proposals and they must now
make their voices heard”, concludes Lionel Maurel, cofounder of the
association La Quadrature du Net.

*What this message is about: Optimism and pessimism are kind of like
spectator sports: things are getting better - or - things are getting
worse. Passive hope is wishing or believing things will turn out ok. Potent
hope, in contrast, is active, intentional, and grounded in the positive
potential we can observe in people and the world. When we have potent hope,
we don't claim to know what will happen, but we do claim good reason to
take action and find rich meaning in our lives. This post concludes with
more than two dozen inspiring quotes about potent hope.*

The "Interbeing" of "better and better" and "worse and worse"
Dear friends,
Given the number of discouraging trends in the world, it is easy to feel
hopeless and pessimistic. So I want to take a few moments to look at these
very human feelings - optimism and pessimism, hope and hopelessness.
I'll start with optimism and pessimism. It feels to me that both these
attitudes pull us into spectatorism - like watching sports teams out on the
field. Will the good forces or the bad ones win? Optimists say "Good will
be the winner and things will turn out well." Pessimists say "You're crazy.
Be real! Things are gonna turn out real bad, as usual!"
Well, first of all, we never really know ahead of time how things will turn
out. And how they turn out has so much to do with what WE do: In a very
real sense, we are always participants no matter what we do or don't
do.<https://go.madmimi.com/redirects/1387826501-acf41eedc9007233d726ec5615a2b66…>Even
when we are bystanders or inactive we are never JUST spectators, and I
think we'd be wise to cop to that fact. Realizing we're involved, willy
nilly, may make it harder to buy into the righteous comfort of traditional
optimism or pessimism, but it certainly brings us home to reality.
There's another level of complexity in this. Let's check out that old
formula about how the optimist thinks "The glass is half full" and the
pessimist thinks "The glass is half empty". Does that actually capture our
experience of most situations we find ourselves in - one glass with four
ounces of liquid and four ounces of air? It seems to me that most
situations involve a LOT of glasses - and they're in every imaginable state
of fullness and emptiness. Confronted by this, optimists get busy pointing
out all the mostly full glasses while pessimists make a big deal of all the
mostly empty ones. (The real test of course is what the optimists do with
glasses that are really almost empty and what the pessimists do with
glasses that are almost overflowing. Usually they just ignore them!)
It seems that optimism and pessimism have more to do with our mood than
with reality. When I'm in a dark mood, I'm with the pessimists and I want
to pull every optimist down. Cynicism helps a lot. When I'm in a bright
mood, I want to lift every pessimist up: "Look at the bright side!" In both
cases, as a (sort of) normal human being, I'm trying to recruit some
company for my side of reality - or at least feel more righteous about my
half of the truth.
But ultimately, when I'm being a bit more sane, it's really clear to me
that reality is more complex than that: We face an abundance of glasses
with all kinds of levels of fullness and emptiness, some getting fuller and
some getting emptier. So, although both optimists and pessimists are
demonstrably right, the incompleteness of their rightness makes it hard for
me to be a true believer in either view. That is where my own guiding
principle in such matters - noted in previous posts - comes from. It seems
totally obvious to me that things are getting better and better and worse
and worse faster and faster simultaneously. As absurd as it sounds, it
seems kinda true.
So for those reasons - both the spectatorism and the half-truthiness - I'm
not really a fan of either optimism or pessimism - even though I find
myself indulging in them both many times each week.
That brings me to the subject of HOPE.
>From what I can tell, most people think that hope is a kind of wishing that
things will turn out ok: "I hope Pat likes me!" "I hope the brakes hold!"
In some varieties of hope, there is also a bit of (optimistic) belief that
things WILL turn out ok, usually expressed as "having" or "getting" hope:
"I have a lot of hope in this new president. S/he gives me a lot of hope."
Again, I find myself indulging in both of these forms of hope but, again,
they feel passive, so I call them "passive hope". When I lose them - when I
become sad, disappointed, or disillusioned - that's when the word
"hopeless" feels real to me. But it, too, is passive.
In contrast, there seems to be a whole different kind of hope - a realm of
hopefulness I call "potent hope". Potent hope, too, has many forms but all
of them are active, intentional, and grounded in the positive potential we
can observe in people and the world. People with potent hope don't claim to
know what will happen, but they do claim good reason to take action, to
move with the positive forces in and around them.
And what I've noticed is that when I find myself losing whatever form of
potent hope I've had, I slide into passive hopelessness, because there is
no potent form of hopelessness. But potent hope is addictive, so I usually
soon find myself seeking another form of potent hope that is authentic for
me in my new state and, with its help, I find myself rising to the occasion
again.
Potent hope, rising from within us, is usually animated by energy and faith
that come from sources like these:
▪▪ commitment or confidence in ourselves ("We can do it!"),
▪▪ caring ("Future generations matter so much to me!"),
▪▪ passion and vision ("I just love life and our vision of what's
possible!"),
▪▪ principled non-attachment ("The outcome matters less than the rightness
of what we do!"),
▪▪ seeing the perfection or potential in difficulties ("This crisis is an
opportunity!"),
▪▪ connecting to the power of predecessors ("Look at what's been done
before!"),
▪▪ shifting to a higher, deeper, longer perspective ("There's something
bigger going on here that we're part of...!"),
▪▪ the intrinsic joy of doing ("I love what I do, no matter what happens!"),
▪▪ simple choice ("I choose positivity because it gives me an exciting,
meaningful life!") or even
▪▪ grit and determination ("I refuse to give up!").
All these perspectives provide energy and inspiration that help us remain
engaged even in the face of immense disasters or obstacles. It is this kind
of hope - this potent active hope - that gives the world its best chances,
that sustains life, and that often makes our own lives meaningful and rich
as we find ourselves rising to the challenge of our journey over and over.
So I wish you and me potent hope in this holiday season and as the world
turns us to engage the next wave of challenges and opportunities in 2014.
Blessings on this immense intense Journey we are all on together...
Coheartedly,
Tom

*Here are some insightful, inspiring quotes to remind us of the many
varieties of Potent Hope...*
“It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they
seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in
spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.”
― Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl
“The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the
road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.”
― Marion Zimmer Bradley, The Fall of Atlantis
“To love life, to love it even
when you have no stomach for it
and everything you've held dear
crumbles like burnt paper in your hands,
your throat filled with the silt of it.
When grief sits with you, its tropical heat
thickening the air, heavy as water
more fit for gills than lungs;
when grief weights you like your own flesh
only more of it, an obesity of grief,
you think, How can a body withstand this?
Then you hold life like a face
between your palms, a plain face,
no charming smile, no violet eyes,
and you say, yes, I will take you
I will love you, again.”
― Ellen Bass
“I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I
have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in
mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and
alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are
going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not
know where you're going, but you know that so long as you spread your
wings, the winds will carry you.”
― C. JoyBell C.
“There is a crack in everything.
That's how the light gets in.”
― Leonard Cohen, Selected Poems, 1956-1968
“In a time of destruction, create something.”
― Maxine Hong Kingston
“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on
the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of
compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in
this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it
destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and
places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this
gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this
spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in
however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future.
The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we
think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us,
is itself a marvelous victory.”
― Howard Zinn
“You do not need to know precisely what is happening, or exactly where it
is all going. What you need is to recognize the possibilities and
challenges offered by the present moment, and to embrace them with courage,
faith and hope.”
― Thomas Merton
“If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every
disappointment.”
― Henry David Thoreau
“It's the possibility that keeps me going, not the guarantee.”
― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
“CHORONZON: I am a dire wolf, prey-stalking, lethal prowler.
MORPHEUS: I am a hunter, horse-mounted, wolf-stabbing.
CHORONZON: I am a horsefly, horse-stinging, hunter-throwing.
MORPHEUS: I am a spider, fly-consuming, eight legged.
CHORONZON: I am a snake, spider-devouring, posion-toothed.
MORPHEUS: I am an ox, snake-crushing, heavy-footed.
CHORONZON: I am an anthrax, butcher bacterium, warm-life destroying.
MORPHEUS: I am a world, space-floating, life-nurturing.
CHORONZON: I am a nova, all-exploding... planet-cremating.
MORPHEUS: I am the Universe -- all things encompassing, all life embracing.
CHORONZON: I am Anti-Life, the Beast of Judgement. I am the dark at the end
of everything. The end of universes, gods, worlds... of everything. Sss.
And what willyou be then, Dreamlord?
MORPHEUS: I am hope.”
― Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes
“Where there is no hope, it is incumbent on us to invent it.”
― Albert Camus
“Sometimes good things fall apart, so better things can fall together.”
― Jessica Howell
“Hope is not about proving anything. It's about choosing to believe this
one thing, that love is bigger than any grim, bleak shit anyone can throw
at us.”
― Anne Lamott, Plan B: Further Thoughts on Faith
“Hope is a verb with its shirtsleeves rolled up.”
― David Orr
“Our strategy should be not only to confront empire, but to lay siege to
it. To deprive it of oxygen. To shame it. To mock it. With our art, our
music, our literature, our stubbornness, our joy, our brilliance, our sheer
relentlessness – and our ability to tell our own stories. Stories that are
different from the ones we’re being brainwashed to believe. The corporate
revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling – their
ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of
inevitability. Remember this: We be many and they be few. They need us more
than we need them. Another world is not only possible, she is on her way.
On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
― Arundhati Roy, War Talk
"I choose to drown in hope. Rather than float into nothing.”
― Melina Marchetta, Finnikin of the Rock
“Those who make us believe that anything’s possible and fire our
imagination over the long haul, are often the ones who have survived the
bleakest of circumstances. The men and women who have every reason to
despair, but don’t, may have the most to teach us, not only about how to
hold true to our beliefs, but about how such a life can bring about
seemingly impossible social change. ”
― Paul Rogat Loeb, The Impossible Will Take a Little While: A Citizen's
Guide to Hope in a Time of Fear
"I can't help hoping, and keeping faith, and loving beauty. Quite
frequently I am not so miserable as it would be wise to be.”
― T.H. White, Ghostly, Grim and Gruesome
“It all counts,' Adam said again. 'And the bottom line is, what defines you
isn't how many times you crash, but the number of times you get back on the
bike. As long as it's one more, you're all good."
― Sarah Dessen, Along for the Ride
“But you can build a future out of anything. A scrap, a flicker. The desire
to go forward, slowly, one foot at a time. You can build an airy city out
of ruins.”
― Lauren Oliver, Pandemonium
“Come friends, it's not too late to seek a newer world.”
― Alfred Tennyson
“O, wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there here!
How beauteous mankind is! O brave new world,
That has such people in't!”
― William Shakespeare, The Tempest
“A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is
reality.”
― John Lennon
“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty
recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the
dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with
open eyes, to make it possible.”
― T.E. Lawrence, Seven Pillars of Wisdom: A Triumph“
“My own heroes are the dreamers, those men and women who tried to make the
world a better place than when they found it, whether in small ways or
great ones. Some succeeded, some failed, most had mixed results... but it
is the effort that's heroic, as I see it. Win or lose, I admire those who
fight the good fight.”
― George R.R. Martin
“Anyway, I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this
big field of rye and all. Thousands of little kids, and nobody's around -
nobody big, I mean - except me. And I'm standing on the edge of some crazy
cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go
over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where
they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all
I do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye and all. I know it's
crazy, but that's the only thing I'd really like to be.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

________
Greetings,
I hope the holidays find you in good health and good spirits.
Speaking of health, I'd like to hear from you as regards how Obamacare is
treating you. Have you been able to sign up? How much are your premiums
going to be? How good is the coverage? If you haven't signed up yet, please
send a response when you do. Thanks, this is just a little research project
of mine. I'll post a summary of what I learn.
My main interest these days is to move forward with the co-op ideas I
described in the 'Building the new' posting (above). A few people have
expressed an interest in helping to organize a workshop, but nothing is
definite yet. If anyone else is interested, please let me know.
My article, NWO – the endgame has begun, was picked up by global
research.caand from there spread all over the net. Below, I'm pasting
in some of the
hits I got from a google search. The cleanest
version<http://news-beacon-ireland.info/?p=15435> online
is on News Beacon Ireland, which is maintained by my friend Rudi Teichman.
I got lots of responses from people who came across the article. Below is
one I'd like to share. I'd like to express my thanks to David Jones, editor
of New Dawn magazine, who requested the article. Having a deadline forced
me to put in many hours to get the article 'just right'.
best wishes to all,
richard
______
Hello Richard,
I have been doing much globalism micro-research since 2010, and will
say your much clearer "big picture" identifying finance as the precursor
controller even outweighing government and military in a national sense
creating an inevitable shift to globalist overall control hence world
sovereignty is really an improvement of insight many other researchers I
come across have not nailed quite as clearly as you. .
I feel you are taking a complex issue and simplifying the basic "engine"
at work, as often when others also research such things but do not connect
the dots but leave the puzzle still in pieces, it thus remains complicated.
Without understanding the financial control first "dot", many are then
distracted by what follows in politics, government an d military minutia.
Your nuclear sense of the core framework is thus the way to settle this
minutia into context of logic and histories.
Even complex system have a basic pattern, and I feel you are nailing
that pattern and explaining it a clearer way than any others I have read
the analyses of. And I feel your globalized financial nucleus awareness
allows any of those other researchers scattered pieces to be connected as
well, to the bigger picture of the coming decade. Meaning you have a logic
in identifying the core driving power, that many could benefit from when
analyzing their own subjects.
Keep up the insightful work. Truly, understanding the basic skeleton is
crucial to understanding the "body" built on it and aiding it's
concealment, while plainly present when explained properly.
Best Regards,
Mark
