---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Krystian Woznicki <kw(a)berlinergazette.de> Date: Mon, Oct 8, 2018 at 11:16 AM Subject: [bgcon] "Challenging Supremacism" To: <digi-yards(a)berlinergazette.de> Hi, allow me to direct your attention to the documents of the 14th Event of the Disruption Network Lab in Berlin, which has been a neighbor of the Berliner Gazette for a couple of years now. Its theme was "INFILTRATION: Challenging Supremacism" (Sept. 7-8, 2018). The photo and video documentation is now online! Please check it out! "The conference focused on the practice of political, investigative and activist infiltration as a form of better understanding aims, lifestyles and methods of right-wing extremist groups. What is the drive for young generations to join extremist groups? How can we analyse their dynamics from inside? What are the reasons of fascination of right-wing propaganda and supremacist outrage? With this conference, we advocate for a critical reflection on the subjects of populism, nationalism, right-wing extremism, and alt-right, to analyse the effects of such phenomena in art, media, politics and society." China’s goal, according to the sources and insiders, is to have long-term access to high-value corporate secrets and sensitive government networks. Since the products of those major companies are sold across the globe, the advantages are enormous for a worldwide secret data gathering for the Chinese state. If the claims are true, which this story claims they are. It all began with Amazon.com Inc. began evaluating a startup called Elemental Technologies to help with a major expansion of its streaming video service, Amazon Prime Video. Elemental produced software for compressing massive video files and formatting them for different devices. But their activity fitted also well with Amazon’s businesses with the U.S. government, such as the highly secure cloud that Amazon Web Services (AWS) was building for the CIA. To double-check Elemental for sensitive issues, Amazon recruited a third-party company to scrutinize Elemental’s security, and it soon was discovered that the there were some suspicious, tiny chips on the motherboards that were not part of their original design. Amazon reported the discovery to U.S. authorities, sending a shudder through the intelligence community. Elemental’s servers could be found in Department of Defense data centers, the CIA’s drone operations, and the onboard networks of Navy warships ... During the ensuing top-secret probe, which remains open more than three years later, investigators determined that the chips allowed the attackers to create a stealth doorway into any network that included the altered machines. Multiple people familiar with the matter say investigators found that the chips had been inserted at factories run by manufacturing subcontractors in China. So, here begins the story ... <https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Deep%20Espionage%3A%20How%20China%20U…> <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.facebook.com?p=eyJzIjoicmF…> <https://www.piqd.com/tracking/technology-politics/deep-espionage-how-china-…> <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.piqd.com?p=eyJzIjoiMUhwMV9…> Source: Jordan Robertson, Michael Riley | bloomberg.com on | Image: Scott Gelber the-big-hack-how-china-used-a-tiny-chip-to-infiltrate-america-s-top-companies Read article <https://mandrillapp.com/track/click/30835283/www.piqd.com?p=eyJzIjoiMUhwMV9…> Your newsletter Not enough information in your newsletter?
