Silke, I just tried to clarify what I meant by pulling together two Wikipedia entries on GMP, and one promotional post for global commons from the GMP blog which was happened to be about your then new blog and Chico's appearance on a GMP event and promises to GMP audience to make commons more prominent within the WSF. Believing I did clarify that neither the problematic was panting threes or commoning around, but much more about structures of power and strange affairs between global capitalists and global activists; and the impact it has been actually making in terms of thrust, alliances, right wing extremist material about such relationships' reality so on. All these are more then enough to give a bit more clarity to what I was talking about in a broader sense. To clarify what I meant when mentioning having very much blood on hand, is about indirect role being played in the increasingly hardening 'real politic' power-game; between the western and peripheral global capitalists and between the productive and money capitalist fractions from the West. Logically one might think strengthening the hand of liberal and productive fractions with left and progressive ideas can serve for good; especially if it would also open doors of resources to those activists working on the alternatives sincerely. Yet behind the dark close rooms, windows, and revolving doors these relations and involvement of money turns things very destructive and negative; divides alliances, groups, friends, and so forth. All the history of class struggles are summary of these similar stories. We all might have more or less blood in our hands wince we didn't and couldn't do anything when hundreds of thousands kids, women, elderly, animas and plants got massacred by the very same games of thrones; what can be enough to convince you, Chico, Susan and all the others that these people can be tricked in left-progressive politics; did we have any chance before unifying at the progressive and left side of the story. Tried several times to show argue how; in terms of the complex systems analysis perspective; determination of initial conditions as well as triggering more differentiation amongst the elements of the system that are leading the disintegration. This was the result of what has done by engaging commons-GMP-al gore-soros-Clinton-so on so forth circles. It is a big thing, requires big responsibility, to tell people how, and why. This is I think real politics of commons, and commoning politics; that can be allowing billions of people to trust your cause, generate p2p man power, material power, creativity power, network effect, transformative power; more than enough to build mega structures and organize all the process; only thing needs is pure trust, which was totally damaged along the way by these relations. I believe the only way to reverse and repair all the mistrust generated; not on the eyes of activists, but more importantly larger masses that are being pushed to camp of fascism and authoritarianism in the old-heartland and may be more in the periphery; needs a radical opening up and confrontation. I really hope that Motreal, friends like Carminda and others would make such healing confrontation possible; from today till the day of meeting, on virtual and actual spaces face to face. Global Marshall Plan and the Global Commons Rising: Who will be hacking who towards, at, around and beyond Montreal (or beyond the WSF in general)
by Orsan 05 Mar '16

The below Wikipedia items are explaining what the hack is Global Marshall Plan initiative and Global Marshall Plan operation -initiated by interesting names, including those we were told being radical-progressives: "The idea of a “Global Marshall Plan” was first published in 1990 by U.S. politician, entrepreneur and environmentalist Al Gore in his book “Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit”. The choice of name deliberately recalls the historical Marshall Plan after the Second World War (officially: European Recovery Program), a symbol for hope, solidarity and peace. The idea of a Global Marshall Plan was not new but had already been endorsed in the 1990s by personalities from a variety of sectors: Kofi Annan, Al Gore, Hans Küng, Susan George, Mikhail Gorbachov, His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, George Soros, Lutz Wicke, Georg Winter and many others (Global Contract). As early as the beginning of the 1990s an ecological Marshall Plan was established by prominent personalities such as journalist Franz Alt and German Green politician Joscka Fisher. Along with many other supporters, they called for the establishment of an eco-social market economy, 100 billion DM put towards the environment every year and a Kerosin tax." [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Marshall_Plan_Initiative] And The Global Marshall Plan is a plan first devised by former American Vice-President Al Gore in his bestselling book Earth in the Balance, which gives specific ideas on how to save the global environment. Gore states: "The model of the Marshall Plan can be of great help. For example, a Global Marshall Plan must focus on strategic goals and emphasize actions and programs that are likely to remove the bottlenecks presently inhibiting the healthy functioning of the global economy. The new global economy must be an inclusive system that does not leave entire regions behind. The new plan will require the wealthy nations to allocate money for transferring environmentally helpful technologies to the Third World and to help impoverished nations achieve a stable population and a new pattern of sustainable economic progress. To work, however, any such effort will also require wealthy nations to make a transition themselves that will be in some ways more wrenching than that of the Third World." Source: Earth in the Balance, page 297-301 Global Marshall Plan: Five strategic goals "In my view, five strategic goals must direct and inform our efforts to save the global environment": stabilizing of world population the rapid development of environmentally appropriate technologies a comprehensive change in the economic "rules of the road" by which we measure the impact of our decisions on the environment negotiation & approval of a new generation of international agreements a cooperative plan for educating the world's citizens about our global environment. The idea is based on the post-WWII Marshall Plan that saw the United States send billions of dollars to European nations to rebuild their war shattered economies. In order to further the idea of a GMP and to coordinate the various initiatives, NGOs, scientists, activists and groups in the field of development cooperation and global social justice the Global Marshall Plan Initiative was founded by members of the Club of Rome, the Club of Budapest, the Eco-Social Forum Europe, ATTAC and other organisations in Frankfurt, Germany in 2003. The two main objectives are to find new ways and sources of financing in development cooperation, predominantly pursuing the Millennium Development Goals of the UN and the worldwide propagation of the eco-social market economy, which is considered to be one of today's key strategies of initiative. The *Green Marshall Plan* is a policy initiative developed by Canadian greens Constantine Kritsonis and Craig Hubley. It offers a basis for global central banks to *bail out the planet* by creating new money to pay for green infrastructure. See: http://nb.referata.com/w/index.php?title=Green_Marshall_Plan&action=edit [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Marshall_Plan] ..... and this is a blog post from GMP: "Global Commons Global Discourse on the Rise From blogs to international conferences, Global Commons gains momentum Beyond the initiative of the Global Marshall Plan Foundation for a Coalition for the Global Commons (the CGC coordination group and discussion can be found here), champions of the Global Commons are going public and spreading awareness for this new global perspective. Silke Helfrich and Jörg Haas have started a "Commons Blog" on Wordpress, an Open Source Software that embodies the practicality of the Global Commons concept. In it there is information on the commons, on-going discourse, literature and stories on the commons meant to provoke thought and hopefully prompt action. In the latest posts on the Commons Blog, one of the Coalition for the Global Commons’ partners, Chico Whitaker, founder of the World Social Forum (WSF), was mentioned in a report on his speech to the latest WSF international conference. For the remainder of the conference the commons discussion was concentrated and passionate and to be labelled “a discourse on vision, around which the political discourse is reorganized ”. In October, we had the privilege of receiving Chico at a meeting for the Coalition for the Global Commons in Hude, where participants (for the most part leaders of international organizations) came together to find better means of collaborating on a large network basis. During the intense three days of small meetings, Mr. Whitaker made a pledge regarding his personal commitment to the Global Commons, one of which was to further promote the concept at the World Social Forum. Indeed he kept true to his word. To the WSF Manifesto pela recuperação dos bens comuns da humanidade (manifesto for the recuperation fo the common goods of humanity)." ... I am not thinking of the next system, not Morozov's critics of solutionism, not platform cooperativism,... Right now I am just thinking of the movie Snow Piercing... Especially the final scene; when our guy finally reached at the locomotive and found the responsible enemy head! In this movie train is a closed system; there are no fractions, one counter part at the end of the train and at the locomotive. Real world is different.. In my opinion, looking at the information networks of the f..ing GMP, it makes much more sense why the support for national capital, and extreme right, fascism and authoritarianism backed by it increases since the 80s and 90s; and we reached at the peak of facism and approached at another world war; in the name of avoiding the train crash (as Susan George used to say); also I know got why the racist and 'paranoiac' arguments that claim that left and 'liberal' progressives are the same thing with the mystified NWO. No matter their intention was, who well they thought their action and alliance with the evil, one or other side of the global fractions of pathological capitalist classes has triggered more and more violence since 2000s. It is time to stand up on own feet and unite against the ruling class as a whole (or asshahole)! Remember that force may or may not be with you, but doesn't matter! It can not go worse then this... Today it is about living or not living.

Fwd: News about survey on commons-education and new calls IASC-conferences on commons
by Michel Bauwens 05 Mar '16

05 Mar '16

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: collective-action <collective-action(a)uu.nl> Date: Fri, Mar 4, 2016 at 10:34 PM Subject: News about survey on commons-education and new calls IASC-conferences on commons To: Dear colleague, Given your interest in commons and related issues, we would like to inform you personally about a number of activities organised by the *International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC).* If you want to know more about these or other related issues, do not hesitate to get in touch (for contact details in the footer of this e-mail)! *Tell us what you teach: survey on commons-education * To strengthen scholarship and the sharing of scientific information on commons among peers and with students, the IASC wants to create an overview of courses and trainings given across the globe on commons. We are conducting a survey together with colleagues from the LandAcademy <http://www.landgovernance.org/>, who focus in particular on land governance. As many commons are dealing with issues of land governance, there might be some overlap with commons-issues, but we also intend to include commons which are not dealing with land or any other natural resources in our overview. A more detailed explanation is provided on the first page of the survey itself, see https://nl.surveymonkey.com/r/DTYK9ZG Your response to this survey would be most appreciated! The results will be presented at the next European IASC conference in Bern (May, 2016) <http://conferences.iasc-commons.org/index.php/iasc/IASC_Europe_Bern2016> (see underneath). Afterwards the results will also be shared via the IASC-website. Please send us your response before the 31st of March 2016! *Call for Contributions to Practitioners’ Labs for the European IASC-meeting in Bern (May 2016) * To promote the exchange of experience and ideas between academic scholars and expert practitioners, the IASC now issues a call directed specifically at practitioners working on commons. In the past, practitioners’ meetings have been organized at several IASC-conferences, offering an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise between practitioners and academic scholars interested in commons. The IASC hopes scholars and practitioners will also use this opportunity at the European IASC-Conference in Bern <http://conferences.iasc-commons.org/index.php/iasc/IASC_Europe_Bern2016> (10-13 May 2016) to mutually benefit from each other’s expertise and experience throughout all future IASC-meetings. The IASC calls on commons-practitioners to present their initiative at the conference as well as to formulate topics and questions they would like to see addressed at one of the practitioners’ labs. The labs offer the opportunity to engage in discussions between other practitioners and scholars on specific topics. In order to prepare and facilitate this process, practitioners are asked to provide the organizers with a description of their initiative/organization and/or a number of questions they would like to see addressed in the discussions. You can find the call <http://www.collective-action.info/sites/default/files/webmaster/Call%20for%…> here and also as attachment to this e-mail. Questions and/or descriptions should be received before 1 April 2016 via the IASC-Conference Module <http://conferences.iasc-commons.org/index.php/iasc/IASC_Europe_Bern2016>. *Please note that IASC-members can register at a substantially lower conference fee*. Not a member yet? Go to https://membership.iasc-commons.org and join the IASC! *Registration 4th European Meeting IASC open now* Europe has been a major driver of “glocal” processes. Therefore, the 4th Regional European Meeting of the IASC is devoted to global connections and local responses. It provides a space to advance our understanding of ongoing “glocal” processes and to analyse historically how commons in Europe have evolved and adapted to “glocal” changes. By integrating political ecology with approaches of New Institutionalism and Critical Theory in Anthropology, Human Geography, Political Science and History, we propose to investigate the impacts of external changes on the perception and evaluation of resources by actors related to the commons. This raises the question of local bargaining power, ideologies and discourses, and of the selection and crafting of institutional designs, which in turn affect the access to common‐pool resources, as well as the distribution of benefits related to the management of these resources. Registration for this conference is open now via the Conference Module; Early Bird rates apply until the 1st of April 2016. For registration, please go to http://conferences.iasc-commons.org/index.php/iasc/IASC_Europe_Bern2016. *Please note that IASC-members can register at a substantially lower conference fee*. Not a member yet? Go to https://membership.iasc-commons.org and join the IASC! *Call for Papers 3rd Thematic IASC-Conference on Commons (Paris, 20-21 October 2016) – deadline 15 April 2016* On 20 and 21 October 2016, SciencesPo Paris will be hosting the 3rd Thematic IASC-Conference on Knowledge Commons. Building upon the successful 2012 <http://www.iasc-commons.org/conferences/thematic/2012-knowledge-commons> and 2014 <http://www.iasc-commons.org/conferences/thematic/2014-2nd-thematic-conferen…> thematic IASC conferences on knowledge commons, this third conference aims to look at the normative effects and institutionalization of the many initiatives based on knowledge commons and how commons provide new legal tools, public policy choices, and forms of social, economic and governance innovations. To this purpose the conference aims to take stock of the latest developments in public policies and legal initiatives around knowledge commons, as well as how the attempts to give a proper legal definition of commons in different countries bring changes in law and property regimes. The key questions that this conference will cover are the sustainability of knowledge commons that could be achieved by giving normative effects to the relationships and collectiveness they create, the possible articulation between grassroots commons movements and public policy, To such end, examples of governance models or legal revisions organizing commons in diverse countries will be studied, particularly as far as knowledge commons are concerned. Abstracts should be submitted ultimately by 15 April 2016 via the IASC Conference Module <http://conferences.iasc-commons.org/index.php/iasc/3rdKnowledgeCommonsConfe…> . *Elinor Ostrom Award on Collective Governance of the Commons – Nominations deadline 31 March 2016* The Elinor Ostrom Award on Collective Governance of the Commons is the IASC-award aiming to honor and develop the legacy of Elinor Ostrom, and to acknowledge and promote the work of practitioners, young scholars, and senior scholars involved in the field of the commons by biennially awarding nominees from each category. Fwd: Think Global, Print Local: Book Publishing as a Commons
by Michel Bauwens 04 Mar '16

fyi ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Stacco Troncoso <staccotroncoso(a)p2pfoundation.net> Date: Mon, Feb 29, 2016 at 4:00 PM Subject: Think Global, Print Local: Book Publishing as a Commons To: Hello, As you may know, Guerrilla Translation is launching *a groundbreaking new project* <http://goteo.cc/guerrillatranslationeng>, and we hope we can count on you for some help! Here’s all the information you need to join our team by supporting our crowdfund. Keep your eyes open for updates, and read on...we explain below all the ways that you can collaborate! Many thanks. Guerrilla Translation <http://guerrillatranslation.org/> *#ThinkGlobalPrintLocal* [image: Bollier y los comunes] *Hello friends of Guerrilla Translation!* We’re writing to tell you about our exciting news here at GT - we have *a crowdfund campaign launching today, February 29th* <http://goteo.cc/guerrillatranslationeng> on Goteo, supporting our commons-oriented, sustainable publishing project: *Think Global, Print Loca*l. We’re embarking on a new adventure in collaboration, translation, and publishing. We’re launching a new kind of publishing network, with a team of P2P/commons publishers in Europe and Latin America. The idea is to *“think global”* - create a book translation and release a free e-book - and *“print local”* - support small, local printers and publishers, and avoid environmentally destructive long-distance shipping. Funds raised in this campaign will allow us to kick off this new network with a Spanish translation of a specially chosen book - David Bollier’s “Think Like a Commoner <http://thinklikeacommoner.com/>”. We’d love for you to join us in the adventure of growing our sustainable knowledge commons - online and on paper! *How can you help Think Global, Print Local?* 1. *Watch for updates.* We’re launching today, but as the campaign progresses we may need some support in getting more attention. Keep track of the campaign on our Goteo page <http://goteo.cc/guerrillatranslationeng>. 2. *Donate*. If you want to support us with a monetary donation, would you please consider doing so in the first days of the campaign? With a strong base of immediate support, we stand a much better chance of realizing our dream. 3. *Group support*. Have a look at our rewards page, your community group could help sponsor some books for another community in a Spanish-speaking country! 4. *Sponsorship*. Your group could sponsor a live event, even an in-person appearance. 5. *Pass it on*. When you get updates about the crowdfund, please share them forward to your friends and colleagues - be sure to tell them why you think it’s a good idea to support us. 6. *Share*. Follow our crowdfund on Facebook <https://www.facebook.com/Guerrilla-Translation-151238068385765/> and Twitter <https://twitter.com/GuerrillaTrans>, share and please comment on what we post 7. *Collaborate*. There are non-monetary contributions listed on our crowdfund page, have a look and see where you might lend a hand. WE NEED YOUR HELP THIS WEEK - READ THIS! <http://goteo.cc/guerrillatranslationeng> With this crowdfund, we want to create a sustainable way to share information cross-culturally with other communities through translations of books, and have those books available to communities in hard copy - not only digital. Our partners in this adventure are: La Libre <http://lalibredebarranco.weebly.com/>/Cornucopia Editorial (Peru),Sursiendo <http://sursiendo.com/> (Mexico), Tinta Limón <http://tintalimon.com.ar/> (Argentina) and Traficantes de Sueños <http://www.traficantes.net/> (Spain). Help support our work in creating those translations, e-books and hard copies in multiple locations - #ThinkGlobalPrintLocal! During its presidency of the Council of the European Union, Luxembourg has promoted social economy at the European level in the context of inclusive growth, quality job creation and social cohesion. The conference led to the adoption of a declaration <http://www.eu2015lu.eu/en/actualites/communiques/2015/12/04-declaration-lux…> <http://www.eu2015lu.eu/en/actualites/communiques/2015/12/04-declaration-lux…>by the governments of France, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovak Republic, Slovenia and Spain towards a comprehensive ecosystem for social economy enterprises. For more information, please click here <http://www.eu2015lu.eu/en/agenda/2015/12/03-04-conf-economie-sociale/index.…> 28 January also marked the first European Forum on Social and Solidarity Economy <http://www.guengl.eu/news/article/events/european-forum-on-social-and-solid…>. Hosted by the European Parliament, the conference was the fruit of an initiative led and organized by the European United Left/ Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL) to turn their long time support for the SSE into one of its main strategic focuses for the current legislature of the European Parliament (2014-2019). Titled “Transforming the Economic and Cultural Paradigms” the conference brought together more than 250 participants from 14 countries in Europe, Latin America and North America in an attempt to promote an exchange of experiences among the different actors highlighting the problems faced by the sector, as well as its potential in tackling the effects of the economic crisis. UNRISD, represented by Marie-Adélaïde Matheï presented the work of the UN Inter Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE <http://unsse.org/>) and UNRISD on SSE.
