Fw: Their Word, Our Bond. Associate! December 2011

----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Associative Economic Bulletin <ame(a)cfae.biz> To: dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk Sent: Thursday, 1 December 2011, 18:35 Subject: Their Word, Our Bond. Associate! December 2011 Is this email not displaying correctly? Click here to view in your browser. Their Word Our Bond - Associate! December 2011 Click on the image to enlarge page 1 With this issue of Associate! we focus on the growing world crisis concerning young people. People who see little to cheer about in their futures. The Indignant Ones. The scene is set with an impassioned statement by Arthur Edwards explaining why he feels so much depends on financial literacy, associative financial literacy that is. Sign of our Time follows with a not untypical montage of commentary from Britain’s (left of centre) Observer newspaper concerning the encampment at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. For the general problem, and for theOccupy Wall Street movement in particular, Kim Chotzen provides an interesting reflection. Not meant as a spiritual version of ‘on yer bike’, but as a considered thought, she asks: What would happen if young people occupied themselves with their destinies, with what they want to do with their lives? In Archive, attention is drawn to Rudolf Steiner’s challenging idea of aging money - and of young money in particular. Though a red rag to their bull, one wonders if the bond markets (or the human beings in them) might yet take heed of his counsel. The AEX pages this month are given over to a ‘call for comments’ concerning a project to design ‘youth bonds’, which, by providing capital for young people, could give to the bond markets a new, less-self-centred orientation. Accounting Corner completes the issue with a reflection on how the mirroring nature of accounting can act as an entrepreneur’s guide, even to the extent of sharing surpluses/deficits. Shareable recently published an eBook about crowdfunding covering how it can be used for funding creative projects, startups, and social movements. It couldn't be more relevant at a time when the traditional ways of finding and funding work have gotten more difficult. It includes articles on crowdfunding's history, future, and impact on social movements, how-to guides, the legal considerations of crowdfunding, and case studies of innovative crowdfunding projects. You can read all of the articles for free on Shareable's Crowdfunding Nation channel here: http://www.shareable.net/tag/crowdfunding-nation We've also recently made it available for Kindle store and iPad (and other readers), and we're trying to get the word out. *Would you be interested in reviewing it on your blog? * In any case, we like to give you a complimentary copy of the eBook. 9/11 P2P history commons project
by David Rose 01 Dec '11

01 Dec '11

Dear Peer to Peers, If anyone is still confused about 9/11, I would recommend you listen to these 3 audio interviews with Paul Thompson of the Complete 9/11 Timeline History Commons project http://www.historycommons.org/project.jsp?project=911_project This 9/11 history commons project seems like an excellent example of peer 2 peer knowledge production? http://911truthnews.com/sibel-edmonds-interviews-paul-thompson/ No controlled demolitions, space beams or Illuminati, I promise! Just huge amounts of very disturbing, well sourced evidence that contradicts the official 9/11 story and justifies a new investigation into 9/11. David

Fwd: [opennetcoalition] Internet censorship against streaming in France?
by Michel Bauwens 01 Dec '11

---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: La Quadrature du Net <jz(a)laquadrature.net> Date: Thu, Dec 1, 2011 at 1:27 PM Subject: [opennetcoalition] Internet censorship against streaming in France? To: opennetcoalition(a)laquadrature.net Themes: JUSTICE, ECONOMY, CULTURE, INTERNET, STREAMING, CENSORSHIP La Quadrature du Net - For immediate release Permanent link: https://www.laquadrature.net/en/internet-censorship-against-streaming-in-fr… Internet censorship against streaming in France? *** Paris, December 1st, 2011 – Several French trade associations representing producers, publishers and video distributors are filing a case/injunction against Internet Service Providers and several online platforms, requesting that access be censored to several websites offering audiovisual works streaming [1]. “Resorting to censorship to fight streaming websites is a repressive slippery slope, both disproportionate and extremely worrying for fundamental freedoms. This injunction is not surprising, after Nicolas Sarkozy's repeated declarations [2] relaying the film and music industry's lobbies' demands. Such measures intend to turn Internet censorship into an acceptable tool for enforcing copyright, eventually leading to generalising its use. Collateral damage for freedom of speech and the privacy of personal communications would be terrible. There are other ways to go after intermediaries who profit from the distribution of cultural works, but before anything else we must recognise the legitimacy and usefulness of not-for-profit sharing between individuals, the repression of which has led to the sharp increase in streaming websites' revenues.” says Jérémie Zimmermann, co-founder and spokesperson of citizen advocacy group La Quadrature du Net. * References * 1. See the following article in Le Monde, in French: http://www.lemonde.fr/technologies/article/2011/12/01/vaste-plainte-demanda… 2. During his 2010 greetings to the cultural world, Nicolas Sarkozy already considered that “We must […] quickly experiment filtering schemes which aim to automatically de-pollute networks and servers of all sources of piracy.” See also French Intellectual Property Code article L336-2, created by the HADOPI law, which authorises a judge to order filtering measures, on which is based the lawsuit. ** About la Quadrature du Net ** La Quadrature du Net is an advocacy group that promotes the rights and freedoms of citizens on the Internet. More specifically, it advocates for the adaptation of French and European legislations to respect the founding principles of the Internet, most notably the free circulation of knowledge. In addition to its advocacy work, the group also aims to foster a better understanding of legislative processes among citizens. Through specific and pertinent information and tools, La Quadrature du Net hopes to encourage citizens' participation in the public debate on rights and freedoms in the digital age. La Quadrature du Net is supported by French, European and international NGOs including the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Open Society Institute and Privacy International.
