A Suggested Theme for the Occupation of Wall Street
by ideasinc＠ee.net 04 Oct '11

04 Oct '11

By William K. Black, professor of law and economics The systemically dangerous institutions (SDIs) are inaccurately called "too big to fail" banks. The administration calls them "systemically important," and acts as if they deserve a gold star. The ugly truth, however, is what Wall Street and each administration screams when the SDIs get in trouble. They warn us that if a single SDI fails it will cause a global financial crisis. There are roughly 20 U.S. SDIs and about the same number abroad. That means that we roll the dice 40 times a day to see which SDI will blow up next and drag the world economy into crisis. Economists agree that the SDIs are so large that they are grotesquely inefficient. In "good times," therefore, they harm our economy. It is insane not to shrink the SDIs to the point that they no longer hold the global economy hostage. The ability -- and willingness -- of the CEOs that control SDIs to hold our economy hostage makes the SDIs too big to regulate and prosecute. It also allows them to extort, dominate, and degrade our democracies. The SDIs pose a clear and present danger to the U.S. and the world. *Anonymous: ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Now in 30 U.S. Cities*<http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/10/03/anonymous-occupy-wall-street-now-in-3…> STEPHEN C. WEBSTER, Senior Editor - The Raw Story *I am not convinced yet that the 99er movement will find traction, however the trend seems to be moving in that direction. If, in the 13 months leading up to the election, a Viet Nam era-like civilian nonviolent action movement arises in this country the entire election dynamics will change.* In a brief video published to YouTube this week, a masked member of hacktivist group 'Anonymous” claimed the '99 percent” movement behind 'Occupy Wall Street” has now spread to 30 U.S. cities ahead of a series of nation-wide actions. 'Everyone, everywhere, will be occupying their towns, their capitals and other public spaces,” the protester said. 'Already we have made tremendous progress. In just a little over a week, ‘Occupy’ initiatives have sprung up in over 30 U.S. cities. 'This is now bigger than you, or me. It is about us, a collective 99 percent that will no longer stand for the corruption, greed and inequality that is rampant in our governing bodies.” Federal authorities warned this week that 'Anonymous,” which has encouraged the protests but does not represent them, will likely use the protests as a motivation for continued cyber attacks on targets seen as antagonistic to the cause. The Department of Homeland Security said in a prepared statements that Anonymous 'will continue to exploit vulnerable publicly available web servers, computer networks and other digital information mediums for the foreseeable future.” In an opposing statement, Occupy Wall Street spokesman Patrick Burener told News Corp. paper The New York Post that the hackers stand 'in solidarity with us, and they’re nonviolent.” 'They have legitimate grievances - they have reasons to be upset with the way the Internet works - but sometimes the way they put that out there isn’t beneficial,” he said. '99 percent” activists in cities other than New York have begun calling their effort 'Occupy Together.” They’re listing each city’s planned protest on their website and offering a set of online tools to help others organize even more. 'What are our demands, you ask?” the Anonymous spokesman concluded in the group’s latest video. 'They are simple: they are the same as yours.” For a long list of the reasons why people are joining the '99 percent,” read some of the posts on the group’s Tumblr, where letters from the activists are being archived. -- P2P Foundation: http://p2pfoundation.net - http://blog.p2pfoundation.net Connect: http://p2pfoundation.ning.com; Discuss: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/p2p-foundation Updates: http://del.icio.us/mbauwens; http://friendfeed.com/mbauwens; http://twitter.com/mbauwens; http://www.facebook.com/mbauwens

Fw: Idaho's Secret Nuclear Meltdown
by robert searle 04 Oct '11

I do not know how true these claims are...? Someone maybe able to throw light..? R.S. ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Energy and Capital <eac-eletter(a)angelnexus.com> To: dharao4(a)yahoo.co.uk Sent: Monday, 3 October 2011, 13:00 Subject: Idaho's Secret Nuclear Meltdown Forward to a Friend Having trouble viewing this issue? Click here.Refer a Friend to Energy and Capital. Idaho's Secret Nuclear Meltdown By Nick Hodge | Monday, October 3rd, 2011 You probably haven't heard about it. It's not something anyone involved wants to draw attention to... But starting sometime in 2013, a series of nuclear tests will take place in the Midwest. The goal: to push the reactor's core to the edge. Or rather, to see just how well one company's brilliant new nuclear fuel can handle previously unstable temperatures. You see, this fuel promises to stop meltdowns from ever happening again. TMI... Fukushima... Chernobyl... you name it — with this new fuel, none of these disasters would have ever happened. As you can imagine, a fuel that safe would instantly become the standard for every plant operating across the world. But before that happens — and demand alone pushes this tiny company's share price through the roof — you can see the entire amazing story right here in this shocking video. You'll want to hurry. Word of this new technology is already creating an electric atmosphere throughout the world's nuclear community. And it won't be long before this $0.25 outfit turns into a $20 giant. Occupy Wall Street...on BBC Radio...It appears to be serious movement....!
by robert searle 04 Oct '11

Dear All, I was amazed to hear as a serious item on BBC Radio Four New yesterday on Sunday morning that there was something about Occupy Wall Street. This was in connection with the "blocking" by protestors of the Brooklyn Bridge. The journalist who was covering this story also wondered whether this movement would grow apace. I have also found some written material on the net from BBC sources much to my interest.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15134806 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15140671 Rather than just give the two references I have decided to cut , and paste the BBC ref page. I am impressed about how this "movement" is being taken seriously.....great! Let us hope far more protests will occur around the world in connection with the financial sector. http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=bbc+occupy+wall+street&btn…
