Temporary execution in evil state with C-o (just like using \ to temporary execution in emacs state)
by lv yiwang 22 Nov '12

I have tried my best to read the doc-evil file and to search the mailing list, but no answers were found. I use emacs-mode of evil most of the time, and I have unset the C-o key What's "Temporary execution in evil state with C-o"? For example: -1, If I am in emacs mode, and I want to jump to the beginning-of-buffer with gg -2, I can do it like this, C-z to normal-mode, then gg to the beginning, then C-z to emacs mode. *3, I don't like this way, if I am in emacs-mode, I want to use C-o to normal-mode, and gg to the beginning, *but after using gg, **the buffer automatically come back into emacs-mode**.* -4, And I think that would be a great convenient for me,I can also use C-o dib to delete contents in brackets without leaving emacs-mode(because after C-o dib, the buffer automatically back into emacs-mode). Thanks!

insert-state-map
by damien.thiriet77 18 Nov '12

18 Nov '12

Hello, I have to change my keyboard layout when switching from french bépo to Polish layout, that I use only for writing text in emacs. Unfortunately, these changes are quite messing, since most apps I use are vimish like. I made a minor-mode dedicated to Polish and I would like to use insert-map to switch the keyboard layout in an quite unorthodox way. Unfortunately, (define-key evil-insert-local-map "e" '(quote a)) does not work. According to define-key doc, DEF should be a string that can be called interactively. What shall I do? Is there a way to make such a (indeed weird) mapping? I know this sounds quite crazy, but it would really be a great spare of time (I wouldn’t have to change configuration of other apps, and per-window keyboard layout switch on linux is complicated since I am using my own keyboard layouts, calling emacs in -nw and changing the layout in zsh is precisely the thing I would like to avoid, because of my vimish bindings)! help (maybe a bug) search and replace
by damien.thiriet77 12 Nov '12

Hello, I have upgraded to the last git version (November, 11th, 23:46) and I have a problem with search and replace fonction: when I enter something like :11,23s/ I am prompted wrong number of arguments. If I ignore this message, the replacement is not made as it should. evil not entering emacs-state in magit-key-mode even if magit-key-mode is listed in evil-emacs-state-modes
by Alessandro Piras 08 Nov '12

I got this issue in one of the last updates i did. I'm installing both packages from melpa. I temporarily solved the issue using an advice, as magit-key-mode has no magit-key-mode-hook - I don't know if this is related at all. By the way, great job with evil in general, it's working great apart from this small issue! Cheers, Alessandro Piras

Failing tests
by Sébastien Willmann 05 Nov '12

Hello, After running make test, it seems that some tests fail on my computer (tests results attached). Are the tests wrong or does it mean that there is some compatibility issues? I use emacs 24.1.1 on fedora 17. Thanks, Sébastien Willmann
