[implementations-list] issue with viper-escape-to-emacs
by Fabian Braennstroem 25 Apr '11

Hello, with the new vimpulse, I have a problem escaping back to emacs mode. I need this option to run some traditional 'M-x' functions. Up to now I used: (define-key viper-vi-global-user-map (kbd "\\\\") 'viper-escape-to-emacs) Unfortunately, this does not work anymore, as using M(Esc) for the next command cancels this escape and inserts the second of the backslash into the buffer... Would be nice, if you have a hint! Regards! Fabian

bind <tab> to vimpulse-abbrev-expand-before in insert mode
by Titus von der Malsburg 19 Dec '10

Dear list, I'd like to be able to expand words and symbols by pressing the tab key in insert mode. I tried this method: (vimpulse-imap [(tab)] 'vimpulse-abbrev-expand-before) But when I press tab in insert mode after evaluating this nothing happens. I'm was running emacs -nw. The strange thing is that it does work when I run emacs with the graphical user interface (GNU Emacs 23.1.1 from Ubuntu lucid). Any ideas about what is going on here and how I can fix it? The other problem I'm having is that C-v does not activate block selection but inserts text. I'd be happy about any suggestion! Here's my init.el, not much going on there: (require 'slime) (setq inferior-lisp-program "/usr/bin/sbcl") (slime-setup) (load "~/.emacs.d/vimpulse.el") (setq-default fill-column 80) (mouse-wheel-mode t) (setq auto-fill-mode 1) (add-hook 'text-mode-hook 'turn-on-auto-fill) (xterm-mouse-mode t) ;; tab expands (vimpulse-imap [(tab)] 'vimpulse-abbrev-expand-before) ;; cycle buffer as in chrome (global-set-key (kbd "C-<next>") 'next-buffer) (global-set-key (kbd "C-<prior>") 'previous-buffer) Sorry, for these basic questions. I just switched to emacs after having used vim for 10 years. I'm a bit lost. Titus

Vimpulse bug report: vimpulse-end-of-previous-word fails on punctuation
by egarrulo 18 Dec '10

Hello, I've found a bug into `vimpulse-end-of-previous-word', which is bound to "gb". The bug happens when previous word is a symbol, like this into an Emacs Lisp buffer (| is point): (defu|n If I hit "gb", point does not move. I've read implementation of `vimpulse-end-of-previous-word', and my understanding is that here: (unless (vimpulse-beginning-of-Word-p) (viper-backward-Word 1)) ;; Point oves at the beginning of "defun" (viper-backward-Word val) ;; Here point is on the ( (viper-end-of-Word '(1 . ?r)) ;; This makes point move to end of "defun" This bug is still present in Git repository. Tested with "emacs -Q" followed by "(require 'vimpulse)". Software: - GNU Emacs 23.2.1 - Debian GNU/Linux. Thank you for your attention. Elena
