[implementations-list] issue with viper-escape-to-emacs
by Fabian Braennstroem 25 Apr '11

25 Apr '11

Hello, with the new vimpulse, I have a problem escaping back to emacs mode. I need this option to run some traditional 'M-x' functions. Up to now I used: (define-key viper-vi-global-user-map (kbd "\\\\") 'viper-escape-to-emacs) Unfortunately, this does not work anymore, as using M(Esc) for the next command cancels this escape and inserts the second of the backslash into the buffer... Would be nice, if you have a hint! Regards! Fabian

[implementations-list] Broken selection in latest Vimpulse (r199)?
by Štěpán Němec 03 May '10

03 May '10

Hello, I vimdiffed yesterday (after not having updated for some time) to the latest Vimpulse as of revision 199 (and I swore I won't do that again -- I'm going to just use git-svn in the future ;-|), and visual mode exhibits the following bug for me: When I select some text, just pressing `d' or `y' does not execute the corresponding actions any more -- it seems to be waiting for another key (and indeed, after pressing another key, the action is executed). It seems to be too obviously broken (actually I seem to be observing more bugs, but this is the most clear and deterministic one) for me to believe that you haven't noticed, but I still figured I'd ask before trying to investigate myself. Thanks and best regards, Štěpán

[implementations-list] Why can't I byte-compile (all of) Vimpulse?
by José A. Romero L. 28 Apr '10

28 Apr '10

Hello Vimpulse Developers, First of all -- congratulations on the new release of Vimpulse, keep the great job! There is a question I wanted to ask since a few revisions ago -- it's nothing really important, I'm just curious about it. The fact is that whenever I try to compile at least one of the following: * vimpulse-modal.el * vimpulse-operator.el * vimpulse-text-object-system.el * vimpulse-visual-mode.el the whole Vimpulse stops working correctly. Of course, compiling the bundle (vimpulse_big.el) doesn't work either. My question is: is this normal, or is it just me? Do you guys byte-compile Vimpulse at all? I'm currently using: GNU Emacs 24.0.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.18.3) of 2010-03-22 Cheers, -- José A. [implementations-list] [ANN] Vimpulse 0.4
by Vegard Øye 26 Apr '10

26 Apr '10

http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/vimpulse.el Change log: - [NEW] Operator-Pending mode: the cursor's appearance changes temporarily after y, d, c, etc. - [NEW] Motion type system: one can change how a motion is "interpreted" with v, V and C-v. For example, dvj will delete a characterwise range (the default is linewise). - [NEW] Keys: gq, gu, gU, g~, g?. - [NEW] Keybinding functions: `vimpulse-omap' and `vimpulse-omap-local'. - [FIX] Vimpulse's text objects handle whitespace more like Vim's. - [FIX] Various bugs submitted to the mailing list -- thanks, everyone. This is mostly a refactoring release, aimed at extensibility. The new framework offers huge benefits to anyone who wishes to code up their own, custom "operator" commands. See the docstring of `vimpulse-range' for an example. Vegard _________________________________________________________________ Nye Windows 7: PCen som passer for deg. SSIA That's another minor annoyance I noticed. I'm pretty sure it used to work and I find the messages very useful. Štěpán

Hi Felix, I'm no longer the maintainer of vimpulse, Vegard is maintaining it now. I'm sending this message to the mailing list too. Vegard: Vimpulse hacked viper setting the text markers x and y to mark the current selection, so to be able to express the selected region as 'x,'y for ex commands. this is not working anymore (y doesn't point anywhere) see also the quoted message below.
