evil interferes with describe-key in Emacs 24
by Sarah Brofeldt 06 Jan '12

06 Jan '12

When evil is enabled, C-h k M-w gives me "M-w is undefined". If I disable evil with C-z, it works as expected again. This may be Mac-only behavior, I guess. -- Sarah

Hi! The \C-^ mapping for switching to the alternate buffer is missing. I tried implementing it, but I gave up, sorry. Also, # and % don’t work in ex.

key bindings for evil in org-mode appear to have stopped working
by Eric S Fraga 01 Oct '11

01 Oct '11

Hello, I have been very happily using evil, especially in conjunction with org mode. Today, none of the special bindings I had made appears to be working in org mode. I do, for instance: (evil-define-key 'normal org-mode-map "H" 'org-beginning-of-line) This was working just fine until yesterday. I automatically track the evil git repository and so evil was updated yesterday. Since then, the above doesn't work. The git log doesn't indicate any obvious changes that would have affected this. I have tried changing "define" to "declare" in the above but no joy. Can anybody please suggest what I should be looking at? Thanks, eric -- Eric S Fraga (: http://www.homepages.ucl.ac.uk/~ucecesf/ :)

C-] behavior and find-tag
by Antono Vasiljev 30 Sep '11

30 Sep '11

Hello, All. I found C-] behavior broken (at least for ruby). Given: my_co<cursor>ol_name When: I press C-] evil jumps to method named "cool". Expected: Evil jumps to method named "my_cool_method". M-. (find-tag) behaves as expected.

[evil] r <return>
by Tom Short 29 Sep '11

29 Sep '11

In normal state, if I type r then hit <return>, I get the following: ;; This^Mbuffer is for notes you don't want to save, and for Lisp evaluation. Instead of inserting ^M, I expected a new line like the following: ;; This buffer is for notes you don't want to save, and for Lisp evaluation. This occurs in both windows and linux. Hitting <escape> after r also acts differently than vim, but that's less of an issue for me. - Tom

Help implementing "jk" in Vim-Mode
by Dominic Savoie 28 Sep '11

28 Sep '11

Hi, as a emacs newbie, I can't thank you enough for the awesome vim-mode. While trying to configure it, I've come across a problem though: bind "jk" in insert mode to leave insert mode. Here's what I've came up with: (vim:imap "jk" 'vim:insert-mode-exit) It 'almost' works. The problem is I can't use 'j' anymore. For instance, in insert-mode, if I write, 'jo' it will say: 'j o is undefined'. Thank you! phzbOx

% in ex and the last line
by Nikolai Weibull 25 Sep '11

25 Sep '11

Hi! So %s/$/a gets into an infinite loop. There’s an incompatibility between how Emacs and Evil treats the last line. Emacs has a blank line at the end of the file if the last line ends with a newline. Evil doesn’t ignore this line properly, the way Vi does.
