Re: [PeDAGoG] Recent developments in Syria and Rojava

Hi Nachi, thanks for your message. Yes, we are still interested and are looking forward in pursuing the project with you. Please let us know what your proposal for a possible schedule could be. How about arranging a first meeting in the end of February? At the moment we are having a very busy time as the attacks on our region as well as the peoples' resistance are continuing... And of course we can imagine that the attacks against your communities will also amplify under the 'new' US government. Therefore it is even more important that we connect our efforts for a life in freedom and dignity for everyone. And at the 'Give Peace A Screen' film festival (with Italian subtitles) on 2nd Feb at 4.30 pm https://www.givepeaceascreen.org/dettagli-e-registrazioni/gpas-off-edizione… A brief synopsis of the film and a review in the American Anthropologist below *Seed Stories (2024). Documentary Film. 42 min, Odiya, Kui, English with English subtitles* Director & Cinematography: Chitrangada Choudhury; Associate Director: Aniket Aga; Editor: Ajay TG; Sound: Asheesh Pandya; Colourist: Srikanth Kabothu *Synopsis: *In a village in the Niyamgiri mountains of Odisha's Eastern Ghats, a heroic effort is underway: barefoot ecologist Dr. Debal Deb and his 3 member-team are conserving in-situ over 1000 endangered heirloom varieties of rice. Odisha’s Eastern Ghats region is one of the world’s surviving biodiversity hotspots, with Adivasi (Indigenous) communities like the Kondhs possessing the knowledge of growing multiple crops with their folk seeds, evolved over centuries. At the same time, the village and the wider region is irreversibly changing with the coming of genetically modified cotton seeds and associated chemicals. 'Seed Stories' takes a worm’s eye view of how this is reshaping a geography and a people steeped in agro-ecological knowledge, and altering their attitudes towards farming, food and ecology. It invites audiences to reflect on the question, 'What is sustainability?' https://www.americananthropologist.org/online-content/review-of-seed-storie… Regards Chitrangada --- To unsubscribe: <mailto: feminist_agroecology_network-unsubscribe(a)lists.riseup.net> List help: <https://riseup.net/lists>

Jan 23rd | RED Webinar on Reimagining Fashion and Beauty in the 21st Century
by Pooja Kishinani 27 Jan '25

27 Jan '25

Dear friends, Join us for RED’s first webinar this year titled '*Tearing the Straitjacket: Reimagining Fashion and Beauty in the 21st Century'* In conversation with Dario Casalini (textile entrepreneur and founder of Slow Fiber) and Alessandra Monaco (independent sustainability consultant and advisor), we explore emerging alternatives to the dominant, ecologically destructive industrial model of fast fashion and commodified notions of beauty. How can we bring about cultural shifts by reimagining beauty as a form of art and fashion as a tool for creative expression and liberation? We will hear from Dario about the Slow Fiber Movement in Italy and its radical approach towards sustainability. Alessandra will share more about her work at the intersection of fashion, sustainability and beauty, which she also explored in a three-part series on REDWeb <https://radicalecologicaldemocracy.org/beauty-and-fashion-imagining-alterna…> last year. *Date*: Thursday, 23rd January 2025 *Time*: 6.30 pm IST | 1.00 pm GMT *Link to Register: bit.ly/RED-fashion-webinar <http://bit.ly/RED-fashion-webinar>* Please do join us and share widely!
