STOP DESIGN THINKING - Save yourselves from design thinkers
by Jinan K B 23 Jun '23

23 Jun '23

STOP DESIGN THINKING I have uploaded a paper at Academia and medium about how to understand the modern mindset by examining the term design thinking. Join me to discuss this https://www.academia.edu/s/b416e3384b or you can read about the same at https://jinankb.medium.com/stop-design-thinking-c6ffc24148d1 One doesn’t require an anthropologist, sociologist, psychologist, and least of all a cognitive scientist to understand the modern mindset. Just a bit of common sense (the most uncommon in modernity which is what schooling takes away) will do. A proper examination of the term ‘design thinking’ will do. How they bring in two totally diverse phenomena together in words and pretend the job is done. This is the same drama with first fragmenting knowledge into various subjects and making the pretense of integrating all by just creating a few terms- multi-disciplinary, inter-disciplinary, etc… It is interesting another nature of the modern mindset which can be called an ‘afterthought’. This means first destroy, make this as default and then pretend for the first time a solution is provided. Take the usage ‘out of the box thinking. A much-celebrated usage…. The stupidity of the modern mindset is that they are not asking why are you in the box in the first place. Who put us in? So, our default setting is in the box, fragmented……. And instead of trying to find the root cause, a temporary solution is offered. Fwd: tomorrow a conversation on Ecological transition: how, for whom, and at whose expenses?

---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Alessandra Pomarico <alessandrapomarico(a)gmail.com> Date: Fri, Apr 28, 2023, 4:02 AM Subject: tomorrow a conversation on Ecological transition: how, for whom, and at whose expenses? To: silvia federici <dinavalli(a)aol.com>, Liliana Buitrago <lilib17(a)gmail.com>, Francisca Fernández Droguett <franciscadroguett(a)gmail.com>, Hibist Kassa < hibkasa(a)gmail.com> *Saturday 29th * *9.30 am EST *15:30 CET 19:00 IST JOIN ON ZOOM (MISSISSIPPI ROOM) <https://tinyurl.com/rec3mississippi> (click here) [image: PHOTO-2023-04-23-06-21-57.jpg] The decarbonization of the rich, which is market-based and export-oriented, depends on a new phase of environmental despoliation of the Global South, which affects the lives of millions of women, men, and children, not to mention non-human life. Women, especially from agrarian societies, are amongst the most impacted (from the Manifesto for an Ecosocial Energy Transition from the Peoples of the South <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfl_OW5eY_lZNABezGBhsbL3fy2xPOSpB0…> ) The current model of ecological transition is inscribed in the same exploitative, colonial, patriarchal paradigm of late capitalism, ready to sacrifice life on the planet for the gain and power of the very few. How to think and act for a truly *just *transition that protects life in all its forms against extractive neoliberal forces at work today? What are the strategies and tactics of eco-feminists, popular, community, and territorial feminisms emerging today in those territories that are the most affected by the so-called ‘ecological’ transition? As a basis for our conversation, we will discuss some of the points highlighted in the Manifesto for an Ecosocial Energy Transition from the Peoples of the South <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfl_OW5eY_lZNABezGBhsbL3fy2xPOSpB0…> * an important document that illustrates the dynamics at stake and how they impact people in different territories. 🌀 April 27 - 30 | Re-imagining Education Conference 3.0
by Ecoversities 26 Apr '23

26 Apr '23

save the date and register to join! Hello friends, It’s coming! The 3rd Reimagining Education Conference will take place online from April 27th - 30th. This is your invitation to co-create a world where many worlds exist, weave nourishing relationships, and tap into deep imagination. Together, we’re re-imagining what learning can be. We’re embodying new forms of higher education, a wider education. REGISTRATION IS LIVE! (https://gien2tio.paperform.co/) We feel clear that deepening relationships is one of the most important ingredients in this event. Therefore, we are scheming even more ways to foster meaningful interactions during the conference. In addition to compelling discussions, workshops and panels, this year you’re invited to: * Participate in the Dream Cafe - These interactive sessions will be a chance to offer support and feedback to people in the community who are just beginning or still imagining how to bring a project to life. * Join a Crew - This is something new we’re experimenting with. You’ll be connected to a small group that together can get to know one another better and really go deep - sharing reflections, debriefing each day, and having some shared reference points for weaving the experience together. * Listen to (or give!) Butterfly Talks - Each day we’ll have a series of 7-min ‘lightning’-style talks on themes related to reimagining education. They’re part of our effort to magnify the voices and efforts coming real projects in motion around the world. We have a truly incredible lineup of folks already preparing the space and we are actively welcoming more educators, unlearners, artists, youth, rebels, and dreamers to get involved! If there’s someone you think should to be woven into this event let us know by replying to this email. 💌 As always this event is offered in the spirit of the gift economy with plenty of ways to contribute monetarily and beyond. Find out more by registering here (https://gien2tio.paperform.co/) . Dear Friends, After a six month hiatus, RED is back with two insightful articles - one a review of John Holloway's recent book, "Hope in Hopeless Times" by Anitra Nelson, and second a close look at the challenges ahead for the evolving discourse on "degrowth" as it contends with its eurocentric biases viz. a viz the pluriverse surrounding us, by Saurabh Arora and Andt Stirling. Our intention is to create a space where people can clearly communicate their vision/project to the wider community in order to invite feedback, express areas that they are looking for support (i.e. funding, collaborative partners, ideation), deepen their connection with others and open up possibilities for emergence and unexpected relationships to blossom. We have specifically invited submissions from people that have a project that is in the mid-late stage of the planning process of a project that they plan to launch sometime in the next 1-4 months. We asked that these proposals be grounded and practical and far beyond the initial ideation phase.
