How to send merge request on Gitorious?
by York Zhao 21 Sep '11

21 Sep '11

Hi, I've found gitorious so hard to use. Last time I had figured out how to send merge request and had done so. After a few works when I wanted to do this again I forgot how to do it and I had spent some of my valuable time on the website but still couldn't find where to do this. Can somebody give me a quick reminder as to where this functionality is? Thanks, York

eval in evil: move the cursor past last char
by Lorenz Köhl 20 Sep '11

20 Sep '11

Hello, evil is awesome. As I was customizing to make my vim and emacs habits non-exclusive I realized that C-x C-e (eval-last-sexp) works on the next to last sexp and I couldn't move over the last paren as it's usually the last character. How do you eval in evil? And virtualedit=onemore in vim does just that but I didn't find a reference to this in evil. Lorenz

emacs 24 and moving left in visual mode
by Anton Daitche 16 Sep '11

16 Sep '11

Hi, I have discovered the following problem when using evil with emacs 24 (actually it is the snapshot from 2011/05/31 obtained from http://emacs.naquadah.org/) When in visual mode and trying to move left with the left-arrow-key nothing happens. It only concerns the left-arrow-key, e.g the "h"-key works. And even more strange: when i first move with the "h"-key and then try the left-arrow-key it works. Can anybody reproduce this kind of behavior? With best regards Anton

C-h in window-map
by Michael Markert 16 Sep '11

16 Sep '11

Hi, currently C-h is mapped in `evil-window-map` (thus C-w C-h) while this is great in terms of vim compatibility it's bad for Emacs integration. Because prefixkey C-h describes the keymap I think it's far more valuable to drop the vim compatibility here (esp. since C-w h does the same). What's your take? Michael

More emacs modes
by Michael Markert 16 Sep '11

16 Sep '11

Hi, the last commits in Magit changed some major-modes, so these have to be in `evil-emacs-state-modes' as well: - magit-status-mode - magit-commit-mode - magit-log-mode and two new modes: - calc-mode - Electric-buffer-menu-mode (M-x electric-buffer-list) Michael

Commit 375b273 breaks evil-surround
by Timothy Harper 13 Sep '11

13 Sep '11

Hi Vegard, Do you have any idea off the top of your head why this commit would break evil-surround? http://gitorious.org/evil/evil/commit/375b27360c40b32a2dff6327c27b991864640… Just wanted to ask you before i started digging in and trying to figure it out on my own. Thanks! Tim

evil disregard for mark-active
by Timothy Harper 12 Sep '11

12 Sep '11

evil is not respecting the mark-active variable. Normally, when you (setq mark-active nil) it clears the mark. When evil is engaged that is not the case. Is this intentional? http://screencast.com/t/9TjsESJw Tim

Scrolling with epubreader
by Guido Van Hoecke 11 Sep '11

11 Sep '11

Hi, I just installed the epubreader firefox extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/epubreader/) and added its buffer(s) to my passAllKeys: :autocmd LocationChange .* :js modes.passAllKeys = /mail\.google\.com|chrome:\/\/epubreader/ That enables most of its key bindings, e.g. left and right arrows for chapterwise scrolling, + and - for font size etc. However, neither linewise (up and down arrows) nor pagewise (Page up/down) scrolling is available. I just can't scroll by keyboard. Does anybody have similar, better or worse experience with this extension? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Guido. evil-delete-line in visual state
by Thomas Hisch 10 Sep '11

10 Sep '11

Hey, selecting a few lines in visual mode (not linewise visual mode) in vim and pressing D not only deletes text inside the selected region but also text until the beginning and end of the lines (i.e. D acts linewise in visual mode). This does not work in evil, evil-delete-line does not delete the whole line in visual state. In visual block mode/state "D" should delete text only to the end of each line in the block. Regards Thomas
