How to "unbind" "j" in dired
by York Zhao 05 Aug '11

05 Aug '11

Hi, I don't like rebinding "j" in dired mode because the original binding was pretty useful that you can type any part of a file name (doesn't have to from the beginning) to locate the file. Is it better to make this keybinding customizable? Thanks, York

Cursor color in "Emacs state" not persistent
by York Zhao 04 Aug '11

04 Aug '11

Hi, I found that being able to set cursor color in different state is really useful, so I have the following to set my cursor color in emacs state: (setq evil-emacs-state-cursor '("red" box)) and it works, however, after I pressed "C-h k <key>" in emacs state the cursor color went back to black. Thanks, York

Problem with selecting paragraph using "M-h" in Evil
by York Zhao 03 Aug '11

03 Aug '11

Hi, In emacs state when I press "M-h" I will have the current paragraph selected, pressing "M-h" again I will have the next paragraph selected and if I keep pressing "M-h" I will be selecting as many paragraph as I need easily which is pretty handy. However, if I'm in Normal state, I could only select the first paragraph, pressing "M-h" again will cancel the current selection instead of selecting the next paragraph. Vimpulse doesn't have this issue. Thanks, York

"gf", "folding" and Insert state paste
by York Zhao 02 Aug '11

Hi Vegard, I just added these, mostly copied from Vimpulse. The "Insert state paste" has slight adjustment based on what I implemented for Vimpulse a while ago. Thanks, York

Hooks for entering and exiting Insert State in Evil
by York Zhao 01 Aug '11

01 Aug '11

Hi, It seems to me that there are no hooks for entering and exiting Insert State in evil. So I'm doing the following workaround: (defadvice evil-insert ...) (defadvice evil-normal-state ...) The advice for `evil-insert' seems to be working but the advice for `evil-normal-state' was always being called even after entering Insert state. Can these hooks be added in evil? Or, is there any other mechanism for this? Thanks, York

Evil cursor color
by Thomas Hisch 01 Aug '11

01 Aug '11

Evil currently sets the cursor color to black which conflicts with my color-theme. Any ideas for a general solution to this problem? Commenting out (set-cursor-color ... ) in the evil code works for me. Regards Thomas

Evil with autocomplete mode
by Neeraj Sharma 30 Jul '11

30 Jul '11

I've found evil is not compatible with the auto-complete mode. Not sure how many people would be using this but it gets annoying as it somehow causes ESC or C-[ to not switch evil to normal mode. I have disabled auto-complete mode for now but may be someone has better idea to make them work together?
