interference of vimpulse and noweb mode
by Titus von der Malsburg 19 May '11

I edit a lot of Sweave documents. Sweave is a noweb format that embeds chunks of R code in Latex documents. The R code is the executed to produce figures for example. Emacs has very neat support for these documents and changes modes depending on where I am in the document (latex-mode or ESS for chunks of R code). However, when I edit these documents with Vimpulse turned on, there are glitches when I enter or exit chunks, i.e. when the mode is changed. For example, Vimpulse changes from insert mode to command mode when I enter a chunk. When I search for a word and land on a match inside a R chunk, pressing "n" does not get me to the next match but inserts an n although I'm not in insert mode. Pressing "n" again gets me to the next match. Is anybody else having these problems? Is there a fix? Titus

Visual mode and jumping to marks
by Justin Zhu 19 May '11

Jumping to marks in visual mode does not seem to work e.g. mm ;; Set a mark somewhere Then from a different location: v'm ;; Go to visual mode jump to mark m I expect the region between the mark and where I entered visual mode to be selected. Hopefully this is an easy fix. Thanks, Justin

Evil status?
by Alan Schmitt 10 May '11

Hello, After browsing the archives for a bit, trying to learn more about Vimpulse, I read about the Evil project. I see on gitorious that it regularly has some commits, and I was wondering if it was already usable (even on a minimum form, I'm a fairly recent Vimpulse user and I probably use it minimally). Thanks, Alan

default key bindings (with control modifier) not working?
by laputa5 06 May '11

06 May '11

Hi, I'm new with Emacs and vimpulse (Thanks for this wonderful extension!). Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere or if this is not the right place to ask. I have Emacs 23.3 and the up-to-date vimpulse. It works great except that all the default key bindings with the control modifier don't seem to work. i.e. in vimpulse-misc-keybindings.el, key bindings like these are not working, (define-key viper-vi-basic-map "\C-]" 'vimpulse-jump-to-tag-at-point) (define-key viper-vi-basic-map "\C-t" 'pop-tag-mark) >>> (describe key gives: C-t runs the command viper-nil) or (define-key viper-insert-basic-map "\C-p" 'vimpulse-abbrev-expand-before) (define-key viper-insert-basic-map "\C-n" 'vimpulse-abbrev-expand-after >>> (describe key gives: C-p runs the command self-insert-command ) If I rebind them like this, they work, (define-key viper-insert-global-user-map "\C-p" 'vimpulse-abbrev-expand-before Also the default key bindings from viper mode (not vimpulse) don't have any issue (e.g. C-c, C-h, C-b, C-d, ...). What's missing? Thanks.

:b splits the window?
by Alan Schmitt 05 May '11

Hello, I was surprised to see that with Vimpulse, :b splits the window. I don't recall this behavior from Vim. Is this a bug or a feature? Thanks, Alan

Short edits with vimpulse
by argetek senvx 03 May '11

Hi, I am hoping to use vimpulse in the following manner: To have it disabled globally, but bind viper-escape-to-vi to a custom key so I could perform a quick editing operation when necessary. I haven't found a documented way of doing this so far so I hope someone can help me with disabling viper globally... -- Regards, ~ argetek

How do I paste in insert mode
by York Zhao 02 May '11

Hi there, How can I paste without leaving input mode? And by the way, how can I join this mailing list. I've submitted several times at this site: http://lists.ourproject.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/implementations-list but noting had ever happened. Thanks, York
