Hi George, all Yes, we should have a new menu for "projects" (for ex.) on the homepage. In my view having only one would look kind of "under-populated" - if we do have more (like the one below) it would look better. cheers Mathieu On 09/23/12, george dafermos <georgedafermos(a)gmail.com> wrote: > Hi Mathieu, > > I think too it's a good idea to set up another subdomain for that > hacklab documentation project (assuming, of course, that the person > you met at the conference agrees to have his project hosted in this > way). Hi all The event was very well-attended and the conference went fine (though the machines and lights made it a tad hot for some). We met some interesting people including a guy active in a local hacklab who appeared to be well connected to the French hacklab scene and is interested in documenting it somehow. Since we already have the "surveys.peerproduction" subdomain perhaps we could set up another subdomain and have more than one subproject - either that or we could just do a series of questionnaires of hacklabs, but I like the idea of having more than one subdomain...? Any thoughts? cheers Mathieu On 09/22/12, Mathieu ONeil <mathieu.oneil(a)anu.edu.au> wrote: > Hi all > > This afternoon at 3PM Johan and I will be speaking at a conference organised during what is billed as the first-ever French "Maker Faire" in Saint-Ouen. CFP Intersectional Conflict and Dialogue in Transnational Migrant and Digital Diaspora Networks

Hi All, *Apologies for cross-posting* Perhaps of interest. *Intersectional Conflict and Dialogue in** Transnational Migrant and Digital Diaspora Networks* * * *Call For Papers* *11-12 April 2013* Department of Social Sciences <http://www2.hull.ac.uk/fass/socsci.aspx>, Wilberforce Bldg., University of Hull. *Keynote Speakers:* Leopoldina Fortunati<http://www.dest.uniud.it/dest/docenti/fortunati/fortunati_l.htm> , University of Udine, Italy Andreas Hepp<http://www.zemki.uni-bremen.de/en/members/professors.html?tx_wtdirectory_pi…>, University of Bremen, Germany Mirca Madianou<http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/media/people/dr-mirca-madianou>, University of Leicester, UK Jo van der Spek, Director of Migrant to Migrant Radio<http://m2m.streamtime.org/>, Holland New structures of being and experience in hybrid media environments and social networks point to the continuities and discontinuities of modes of conflict and dialogue, but also offer new dialectical necessities to be explored. Migrants, far more than other groups in society, with their experiences rich in borderlessness, struggle, resistance and empowerment, raise a double challenge when we attempt to research politics of digital presence. We invite colleagues to raise to this challenge and to discuss migrant ideology, organization, affect, agency and discourses; to comment on digital objects and media produced by pro-migrant and anti-migrant groups and diaspora communities; and to discuss the impact of race, gender, ethnicity and class on everyday discourses in networked digital and hybrid environments. With an eye to European migration policy and the possibility for a digital public sphere with a European flavor, we particularly welcome - but will not restrict to - the presentation of recent research on conflict and migration in Europe, as well as research focusing on the possibilities of dialogue and democratic praxis in the European digital public sphere beyond the representational. This conference is part of Hull’s dissemination activities for the European FP7 project MIG@NET <http://www.mignetproject.eu/> 'Transnational Digital Networks: Migration and Gender' and it is in joint collaboration with Geert Lovink and the Institute of Network Cultures. <http://networkcultures.org/> *The deadline for abstracts is 1**st** of December 2012. * Please submit your abstract and affiliation to Athina Karatzogianni<http://www2.hull.ac.uk/fass/socsci/staff/academic-staff/karatzogianni,-athi…> at athina.k(a)gmail.com or a.karatzogianni(a)hull.ac.uk. Hi all Since Steve, Dariusz and Franco: - met the requirements (sponsored by an editorial board member; affiliated to a research institution or able to point to an online archive of their research; presented themselves and their interest in peer production) - accepted their obligations (review two papers a year, contribute to list discussions, come up with ideas for the journal) and since - no-one objected to their inclusion... I think we can safely say that they are now members of the Journal of Peer Production editorial board. I will add their names to the website list. Welcome aboard! cheers, Mathieu

Hi Jarkko Re. publicity of your project we can do either a self-presentation text or an email interview, along the direction outlined below. Then we can feature it in a next release of the journal. We also need to sort out the relationship between the two projects as otherwise there will be more confusion. Since "peerproduction.net" is the Journal of Peer Production (JoPP) domain, and since your "surveys.peerproduction.net" project is part of this domain, by definition we are hosting you. So perhaps we could have on the JoPP frontpage a new menu called "projects" that would list (and link to) external projects such as yours which are aligned with the general direction of the journal, though have their own autonomy and intent. What do others think? cheers Mathieu On 08/29/12, Jarkko Moilanen <jarkko.moilanen(a)uta.fi> wrote: > Hi, > > I'm returning to this discussion. > > ma, 2012-08-20 kello 15:26 +0200, Mathieu ONeil kirjoitti: > > Hi Jarkko, all > > > > First your project sounds v. interesting, maybe we could feature an > > interview or a self-description of your background, goals, results, > > hopes etc in a future issue of JoPP? > > > > This would be great. Hi all I would like to sponsor a new member of the editorial board: Franco Iacomella. Franco has played a major role in the journal in terms of infrastructure development but he is also interested in other type of contributions. @Franco: it would be great if you could briefly introduce yourself and your research interests to the group. cheers, Mathieu
