Hammond Organ crashes hard
by DCZX 10 Jun '06

10 Jun '06

The Hammond Organ program locks up sometimes when I start it. I think it has something to do with JACK. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Damn." * Pete wrote for me a script to convert some samples I used in Windows to use them into GNU/Linux, thanks Pete. = English technical details = This song was recorded in a "sad" night using the new Rosegarden 1.2.3, Zynaddsubfx for the dist guitar, Hydrogen with my Colombo Drumkit, and DSSI instruments as Hexter or Xsynth. Crackling / Popping AC97
by DCZX 08 Jun '06

08 Jun '06

Okay, so I figured out a few things about Musix since my last message: * On login screen, select the English session and there is much more translated. =) Also, I had to manually set my keyboard to American, it would be helpful if the installer asked and did this for me. * For some reason, the realtime kernel reboots okay now. It didn't for a while though. but I've still got big problems with sound. I used Agnula fine for some time, but with Musix, my AC97 onboard sound card emits a crackling distortion on audio that is playing. This problem has at times disappeared, only to reappear partway through my session. Currently, it does it all the time. Is there something I can do about this? I don't have the problem in SuSE or Windows on the same box. Thank you kindly. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Problems with Musix
by DCZX 08 Jun '06

08 Jun '06

Installed the new Musix, and I have some problems: * My onboard AC97 sound card doesn't work well. Recording through the line in is balanced wrong and sounds distorted. * When I use the Live kernel, Musix won't reboot at all. (not even "reboot" as root) * I had to use "alt 4 1" to put an "=" sign in the boot options because American keyboards are not default or selectable as an option. This makes it very difficult for American users to install with options. * Much remains untranslated, though I understand this is still an early version. Thanks for Musix though, I hope to start using it once I get my soundcard working. I really like the new backgrounds. Steven __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? An experimental version of Musix 0.49 will be available in a few hours/days
by Marcos Guglielmetti Gmail 06 Jun '06

06 Jun '06

An experimental version of Musix 0.49 will be available in a few hours/days Main features: * kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 (it might support installation in SATA hard drives) * knxinstaller -optional- (advanced installer taken from Kanotix distribution) * 460 updated software packages * ALSA 1.0.11 audio drivers for kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 * Note: kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 does not have the realtime patch from Ingo Molar applied, but its performance is quite good (it was tested). "Beyond4.1" refers to a series of patches that were not applied to the traditional kernel yet (vanilla). Musix 0.49 will at least give hardware support for new sound cards, etc. We hope you can test it and report errors or success. Musix 0.40 is much more tested, and we suggest to use this version in long-term if you do not have hardware detection problems. Musix 0.49 is thought for those who have new computers and/or hardware compatibility problems.

Sounds great. Will this be a 'public' development release? Also, where do 'dev' conversations happen? I subscribe to this 'users' list and also try to follow the web forum, but it seems like the real development is elsewhere...
