An experimental version of Musix 0.49 will be available in a few hours/days
An experimental version of Musix 0.49 will be available in a few hours/days Main features: * kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 (it might support installation in SATA hard drives) * knxinstaller -optional- (advanced installer taken from Kanotix distribution) * 460 updated software packages * ALSA 1.0.11 audio drivers for kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 * Note: kernel 2.6.16-beyond4.1 does not have the realtime patch from Ingo Molar applied, but its performance is quite good (it was tested). "Beyond4.1" refers to a series of patches that were not applied to the traditional kernel yet (vanilla). Musix 0.49 will at least give hardware support for new sound cards, etc. We hope you can test it and report errors or success. Musix 0.40 is much more tested, and we suggest to use this version in long-term if you do not have hardware detection problems. Musix 0.49 is thought for those who have new computers and/or hardware compatibility problems.

Great! I will test it with my Gina20 card. Still didn't really find any other quick and good solution. By the way, what do you think about creating a miniMusix CD, which can be installed to USB/ flash memory for use in selfmade jukeboxes. I have often seen restaurants, bars etc. using computers as jukeboxes nowadays. Mostly they either use fu**** expensive proprietary software, or mess around with shitty windows software. The concept could be, to just leave away all the pro audio (recording) apps and only keep the stuff for playing back music. Also all office/internet stuff could be left out, 'cause who would want to surf the internet on a jukebox. instead it should be configured to have open X connections and ssh-server running, for remote access. There is also at least two scripts available to copy a Live-System to a USB Stick: Damn Small Linux has one and Puppy Linux as well. One of these should be included. Ok. Thats enough. Sorry for bothering you. Please give us a quick note by the time 0.49 is actually available for download. Thanks a lot for your great work! -- Johannes M. Maybe a great idea, but too much work for us, ¿could yo do it?
Please give us a quick note by the time 0.49 is actually available for download.
I will, cheers
Thanks a lot for your great work!

Unfortunately not. I have no experience with creating distros whatsoever. I am an OpenSource enthusiast but purely on the users side, with no developmental skills at all. Sorry :-( Have a nice day! -- Johannes M. Stolba Tel.: +43 3153 71483 Mobil: +43 699 11729154 E-Mail: [email protected] Web: http://jo.nspire.net
