I do not know exactly what the machine type is, but it is an IBM NetVista, Pentium 4 2Ghz with 768mb RAM. My "production" Musix PC's are an eMachine with a 1Ghz Duron and 768mb RAM, and a Compaq AMD Duron with 768mb RAM. Musix runs just fine on those. This is slightly off topic, are there any plans for a Musix for PPC? I have a PowerMAC G3 Blue and White just begging to make some music! -=cybersean3000=- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! The way I test Musix is if it will boot and run on a very touch IBM NetVista PC. With Musix 0.50, I had tried for days to come up with the correct boot parameters for the CD to boot. After finding that and documenting it for myself, I never had a problem booting. With Musix 1.0rc1, I had to do the same thing. After only 2 evenings, I found this to work for me at the boot prompt: boot: xorgmusix english dma lang=eng noapic acpi=off nomce nopcmcia Also, for booting and running from the CD, it is better to have a lot of memory. I have 768MB, but booting from the CD and running SEQ24, Hydrogen, and ZynAddSubFX with 3 instruments causes the PC to crash. When I install Musix on a hard drive, it runs fine. 1) Spend time finding the correct boot options for your PC 2) Make sure you have enough memory. The CD is 700MB. Since some of the CD decompresses into memory to run from a virtual disk in RAM, you shoul have at least 1GB RAM to do anything useful with just booding from the CD. 3) If you don't have a lot of memory in your PC, install Musix on a hard drive and try it from there. Without going into great detail, you can but boot options on the appropriate line(s) in grub.conf or lilo.conf, depending on which boot loader your system uses (grub or lilo). Re: 2.6.21 kernel

Hola Tapani | Hola! | | I'm justing uploading 2.6.21 kernel to | http://linux.ilmainen.net/suomiknoppix/linux-2.6.21/ | The configuration is the same as in 2.6.21-rc7. OK! I will make this mail public! (If you dont mind!), because it inaugurates the Stable history of Musix! | I'm writing just now from it, using Iceweasel, compiling new 2.6.21-rt1 | kernel (realtime preemption kernel for you), listening music with | Amarok, sending kernel files with Gftp to the server and compressing my | new SuomiKnoppix with 2.6.21 kernel. Everything works great. This | kernel is wonderful! | | -tapsa- :-D Thanks Tapsa, now you can also watch some Videos made for the 5/5/2007 Musix's 1.0/Stable public presentation using this kernel :) http://www.musix.org.ar/video/ I know, they are in spanish, but I think you can like to see them. By the way: today I was installing Musix 1.0rc1 at an install fest here in La Plata, and I was telling the people: "2.6.21 stable must be ready this week, I think", so, you were right... also 2.6.21-rc7 is not bad at all. One last thing: Should I install the 2.6.21-rt1 kernel into the Live-CD, I mean: It will be compatible with aufs? or should I install 2.6.21 that is compatible with aufs for sure? In the last case, we should change http://linux.ilmainen.net/suomiknoppix/linux-2.6.21/minirt.gz (I did not watched it yet, but I can imagine it does not says "Welcome to Musix") :P Well, now Musix could be really a Stable system!! "E-mail : a.sluik(a)gmail.com Comment: Thank you for making a sick man happy with putting out this distro. I could never do all that work myself to put a music Linux distro together. You did it for me. I used to be a musician, now I can be one again. Thank you, thank you." Hi Andre Sluik, Thanks for you comment, but, are you sick of what? And, why does Musix could make you a musician again?
