by Ariel Errera 12 Apr '08

12 Apr '08

Hi A new version of ghostess is now available on Musix's repository. ghostess provides a GUI to DSSI plugins (whysynth, hexter, etc...), allowing standalone usage of them. Installation: This version does not replace the previous one so first it is necessary to uninstall it. apt-get update apt-get remove ghostess-20050916 Now we are ready to install the new version: apt-get install ghostess Enjoy!

Hi, We at Musix GNU/Linux are using now rosegarden 1.6.1, it's not into our last CD but it's now into our repository, debian etch compatible. I tested it just to see the lilypond feature and I loved it :D Congrats to the development team: you rock! We are using Musix in classrooms, see http://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php/Fotos-Conservatotorio-Junin_marzo08 http://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php?title=Musix1.0r3-Stable-announce#Usa… Regards

Call for Student Participation - CLAM in Google Summer of Code 2008
by Hernán Ordiales 24 Mar '08

24 Mar '08

(Please help distribute) We are glad to announce that 2008 summer is also going to be a Summer of Code for CLAM[1]. In other words, CLAM has been accepted as a mentoring organization for the Google Summer of Code, a program that offers student developers stipends of 4500 USD to write code for open source projects [2]. We are looking for smart students who enjoy coding free software so that they can earn some bucks for the summer. Last year, GSoC 2007[3] was a very fun and productive experience and we are willing to repeat it. Take a look at the CLAM GSoC 2008 wiki page[4] for more information on how to apply and some sample ideas[5] for projects. We are waiting for you! Application deadline: March 31 If you have any question about any of the information below please contact clam-info(a)iua.upf.edu or join the #clam channel at FreeNode IRC. Yesterday, I went to Doug Van Sloun's openhouse of his very new studio Focus Mastering here in Omaha. He has amix of analog and digital equipment, and says very few projects use alldigital or all analog. He uses a Mac with Pro Tools and Sonic, but thesoftware just controls the hardware, he uses no software plug-in's. Doug has worked for Sound Recorders, and Studio B. He has masterdprojects for Bright Eyes, Tilly and the Wall, Neva Denova, Beep Beepand Son, Ambluance, and Ryan Fox. Doug has also worked with a producerfrom Dublin, Ireland, and has recently been contacted by an artist fromBrazil.
