SOLVED: Issues with non-root users and Jack realtime
by Dan Creyd 22 May '07

22 May '07

The problem is in the following file: /etc/security/limits.conf Where it says rt_priority it must say rtprio This was already fixed but it seems that after an upgrade some package changed the configuration. In a terminal (as root) type: nano /etc/security/limits.conf Then edit, this line: @audio - rt_priority 99 And change it, so it looks like this: @audio - rtprio 99 Then <ctrl+O> to save changes, <enter> to confirm and <ctrl+X> to exit nano. Reestart the pc. With these modifications you'll get realtime capabilities without using the realtime-lsm module. Ariel. Musix GNU+Linux Collaborator.

Easy guide for new users updated!
by Dan Creyd 21 May '07

21 May '07

The guide has been updated with a lot of useful information. It basically answers the common question: What program can I use for...? Please check: https://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php/English-Easy-Guide Suggestions, corrections, etc. are welcomed. Remember that the wiki has an index in English. Although some sections link to multilingual or Spanish content. We are working in the translation of those pages, but we need your help!!: https://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php/Portada_en Ariel.

New packages in the repository: sooperlooper & frewheeling
by Dan Creyd 21 May '07

21 May '07

Thanks to Carlos Pino, Frewheeling 0.5.5 and Sooperlooper 1.1.0 are available in the Musix repo. To install, first type in a terminal (as root): apt-get update Then, to install both with one command: apt-get install frewheeling sooperlooper If you just want to install only one of them, just remove the name of the unwanted package from the command. Enjoy! Ariel.

Request
by chivigon 18 May '07

18 May '07

Hello Marcos Guglielmetti, I just installed music in a dell latitude d600. There is a problem with the wired network driver tg3, sometimes there is no way to load it and sometimes works fine. This is the first time using rox+icewm. However, my request is to add sooperlooper to the audio apps. Thanks, J Be smarter than spam. Gracias! by Marcos Guglielmetti 14 May '07

Just type: sudo apt-get update If you use Musix: sudo apt-get remove sineshaper-0.4.1 whysynth-20051005 && sudo apt-get install whysynth nekobee sineshaper If you use Debian or so... sudo apt-get install whysynth nekobee sineshaper These are all DSSI synth plugins, very cool for Rosegarden! Thanks to Carlos Pino for the packages.
