Moving to Kune
by Samer 27 Sep '12

27 Sep '12

[castellano debajo] Hey there! Now that we are using Kune everyday, I think the ideal is to fully move this list to the Kune list "comunes-translation-EN" in the group #comunes in http://kune.cc You can click subscribe here: http://kune.cc/#!comunes.lists.13423<http://kune.cc/#%21comunes.lists.13422> So from now on, any new email that you aim to send to this mailing list, please send it as post in the Kune list. If you have complications in the use of Kune, you can continue using this mailing list and ask us for help with Kune. You can also subscribe to any other list within Comunes, Kune or MC: http://kune.cc/#!comunes.lists http://kune.cc/#!kune.lists http://kune.cc/#!movecommons.lists For those willing to translate Kune, you have instructions and percentage info about each translated language here: http://kune.cc/#!kune.docs.12.1910 -- Oeo!

Translating Kune
by Samer 10 Feb '12

10 Feb '12

Hi everyone, Following-up an email from a few months ago, in which Vicente was offering anyone to join the translation of Kune... now we are offering it again, because Kune grew and now the old translations need to be updated again. Also, if new languages can be added, it would be fantastic. It is not a very time-consuming task, and it would have an immediate effect, as Kune would be showing the translations right away. Nowadays, the full translation is only available in English. Spanish and French are incomplete. And other languages are missing. In order to join the translations you should: - Create a new user in Kune: http://kune.beta.iepala.es - Go to http://kune.beta.iepala.es/#demo This is the translation and testing group - Click [Join] button in the left. You asked to join the group. The admin will need to approve your request. - When the admin allows you to join the group (you will receive an email "Accepted as member" to inform you), you will be able to begin translating. - Log in into Kune, and go to the top-right corner. Click "More" => Help with the translation - The translation window will open. You can then select the Language you are going to translate to. - After choosing the language, you have the tab "Not translated" with the list of words or sentences that need translation. Keep selecting them to translate each. There are shortcuts if you would like to use them, in order to speed up the process. Whenever you are done with the list, Kune will be translated to another language! If you find any problem, please inform us and we'll try to help you and solve it. Whenever you finish, please inform us so we can enable that language and thank you in the credits of Kune. Cheers! -- Samer http://comunes.org "No son tiempos para hacer cualquier cosa"

Tips for right-to-left web design?
by Vicente J. Ruiz Jurado 11 Nov '11

11 Nov '11

Hi there: I've started to test some Arabic translation (for now using google translator) in kune to look how RTL languages works on it. I only did the top bar (yes, I suppose is a crappy translation, but doesn't matters, is only a test, I'm worried about the modifications in the code to support it). Look the result: http://kune.beta.iepala.es/?locale=ar# So, I need some help: can anybody give me some web tips to support these languages? Like: - be sure that you configure all the textbox to be right-to-left. - mmmm, buttons with (icons + texts) should be (texts + icons). I don't know if this is true... is just an example that maybe it's true - titles of pages should be... - etc. Also, I can change easily all the left area (Social Network & tools) to the right as in this draft: http://kune.ourproject.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/web_template-2011.png but, this is useful for Arabic and rtl languages? I don't know... So some tips more than welcome... If furthermore someone want to help in the translation just give me his/her username in kune.beta.iepala.es and I'll add to the translation group. Time to translate Kune
by Vicente J. Ruiz Jurado 26 Oct '11

26 Oct '11

Hi there: It's time to translate Kune to other languages. We were resolving some issues with non western languages: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WAVE-187 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WAVE-246 so we are now ready. Kune is translated only to Spanish, currently. To participate, you should sign in in our demo and be member of the demo group (if you are not, just join it): http://kune.beta.iepala.es/#demo and open the translator: Options > Help with the translation See the shortcuts to speed up the process. It's something fast. In any moment you can check how your translation goes in kune reloading the page. If you detect some problem with non western language (for instance if you are translation to Cyrillic or Arabic), please add an issue: http://kune.ourproject.org/issues/ and we'll try to fix ASAP. When finished, please write to me or to the list, and I'll add you to the credits. Bests, and thank you indeed, -- Vicente
