Very interesting suggestions from both but I will refrain from following up and clogging people's inboxes with "technical / coordination" content until we have decided whether to create a dedicated list as suggested by Zack.

Regarding DOI, could it be interesting to check or contact Zenodo (from
CERN)?
I normally use it in order to have a DOI for my software releases, but
maybe it could be used also for the journal.
