took pictures of it in the kitchen (well done, Kroger bakery), and the host or manager came by and had a good laugh with us. I didn't think modern, worldly, and kitschy, would make a good combination, but somehow they do here. I sat down, staring at a life-size stained glass image of Elvis, followed by one of the best beers I've ever tasted, Blanche de Bruxelles. Our table for 8 shared several plates, all of which I enjoyed, especially the beef bone marrow, belgian endive gratin, oxtail stuffed calamari, and shin of beef. We had a great seat on a perfect night, in the doorway halfway outside, 80 something degrees after the dallas heat wave. The place was almost empty on labor day Monday. Server was attentive and knew what was going on. The music is inexplicable in variety and selection (modern shitty pop, doo wop, rolling stones?) but it was a great way to end my trip to Dallas. I really enjoyed what I had. Cheese plate: Good, not great. The figs were very pretty. Speck was fantastic. Port Salut very good. Almonds paired very well with drunken goat. Salami and blue cheese were fairly average. Mussels: Tasted okay, average mussels, no complaints. Bone Marrow: Super good. Vinegar and capers and salsa verde (more like a chimichurri) makes it more vinegraitte than heavy marrow. Still heavy but different than usual bone marrow experience (victor tangos, ex.) Sweetbreads: Great. Similar to how they made the bone marrow lighter, the bacon jam has a lot of apple and vinegar in it, makes it about even with the sweetbreads which were about average. Not crisped up enough on the outside or tender enough inside to really be memorable, but the bacon jam defintely elevated it. Tartare: Venison was cut too large, and was too tough (lean) to be "luxurious" or etc. A chewy mouthful, but pretty good. The green guacamole/bitterish thing was alright, but I don't know if it was necessary. The texture with the little gaufrette potatoes was great, but that's an easy trick. Texas Beer Flight: Very happy with it, well curated flight, some standouts, wide spectrum of beers with some great brands. Cask Beer: $3! Had I known it was the blue ribbon beer I would have only been drinking this all night. Really good, my favorite, in the realm of belgian ales. Made me happy. Dark and stormy: Not a strong drink, but very ginger and good. I went here with some friends a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We sat in the serene courtyard with jalapeno basil margaritas while we pondered the eclectic menu. This was my second visit here and it did not disappoint. We started off with the fried hominy which was terrific. Whoever thought of that idea was a genius (probably the Native Americans, but Meddlesome Moth did it well). For lunch I had the Ahi tuna salad which was light and flavorful. My husband had the lamb gyro that came with a Greek salad. He loved his. My friend had the poached fish and avocado salad which was very good. Her husband had the cheeseburger. It really looked amazing and came with crispy fries. This is a nice spot for lunch and trying something new. I can't wait to return and try more menu items. Never have I heard Meddlesome Moth mentioned in the conversation. Just trust me on this. I've taken or told at least a dozen people about the "Burgundy Pasture Burger" and the responses range from 'that's a damn solid burger' to 'holy shit, that's easily the best burger I've had in Dallas.' Bonus: the fries are perfect too. There are some other decent items on the menu and of course the beer selection is huge but I've been about 7-8 times now and I have to order the burger and 2 new beers each time. Have been to this place multiple times and never once left
