The portion of the entrees was perfect, not too much so we could still get dessert afterwards, but not too little so we were pretty satisfied with a full stomach. The beer and wine selection is great. I ordered the mixed green with herb salad as my appertizer and it was really just mixed greens with really light dressing, nothing special. My scallops were great, they were light and fresh and well seared. We ordered the chocolate cake with ginger ice cream and the apple tart to share as desserts. they were both good but nothing impressive. We showed up at 9:15 p.m. for our 9:00 p.m. reservation, on a Tuesday night. After profuse apologies (and a phone call telling them we were running late) they were gracious and savvy enough to seat us at a table, rather than offer us seats at the bar, which serves later. So they get a VERY big plus, and we will indeed return for that gesture alone. Also, the waiter was very nice, not overbearing, and politely attentive - another biggie when remembering the impetus for separation of one's self from one's money. The lingering smell of marijuana smoke in the men's room was an olfactory peek at what we can only hope heaven will smell like. The food was very good, but we felt a tiny bit pricey - not outrageous, but pricey. I ordered saut??ed scallops with a parsnip puree and haricot verts. Simple French. The scallops were excellently prepared, perfectly tender and savory. But there were only three - large, but only three. The parsnip puree and harcot verts were simply done in the peasant tradition. Loved them, but so sparse. The wine was a lovely French pino, perfect for the meal. The bread and butter were also delicious. The bill hovered just over $125 for two, without dessert. Lovely standard French food for two; in a lovely, urban space, on a Tuesday evening. Nice. (a lighted bougie would have been de riguer. The last time I was there with friends for dinner, we enjoyed their wine and some of the appetizers. The spicy salmon tartare was really good, but that's the only dish I really enjoyed. We were surprised by the price of entrees in comparison to the quality of the dishes. I had the lamb chop and it just wasn't all that great. The meat wasn't seasoned that well and the fava beans and fingerling potatoes were somewhat tasteless. I actually can not remember what the dish tasted like. We left with a $400 bill and no memories of what we actually enjoyed. I've been here years back, they had a groupon so I figured why not. Food was fine. I wasn't super impressed, I found food to be on the bland side. Though I can say service was fine to ok. I feel like when you tell servers you have a groupon they don't treat you as well or as attentively- at least that is how I felt. My friend order the french onion soup, it was large and she said it was tasty. For entrees we got the poached salmon and her the veggie dish. Though my salmon was perfectly cooked it was bland. Her veggie dish too. Very oily overall.Dessert was a bread pudding which I can say was very delicious the entrees I chose sword fish, with couscous and an olive compote. To start the meal could have been served hot, little on the cool side. Too bad because it was a good cut of sword fish, but the couscous seemed a little bland. My wife had scallops, great presantation, also cool and some scallops slightly undercooked. The shining star of the meal was the steak frites, for my daughter in law, her meal was perfect which was just fine, after all it was her night.
