I like it! :) Make your own "money" = have some hives at home and plant thousands of flowers, restore forests and meadows, get rid of GM crops and pesticides, learn how to manage your bees as best you can, use local honeybee species, encourage other pollinators resulting in more flowers for your principal "money-makers", etc. Value addition = blocks of pure beeswax, candles, lip balm, and the ever-delicious mead and tej :) And the best part, in times of need, you can eat your own "money" and then make more when times ease up a bit! Bartering honey for whatever they need from people in their area...pretty neat idea that takes cold hard cash out of the immediate equation and transforms the exchange into more of a social venture. Sounds like damn fine honey too, which obviously helps :)
Why hasn't anyone made a currency out of this for their local farmer's markets? Weights could be standardized and sealed. And it has unquestionable value (stored effort + molecular energy) that lasts years. PLUS, to make the currency cheaper and easier to obtain people will plant more flowers in their community -- it's like a perfect self-organizing system of currency generation and community beautification with little threat of corruption (by the bees?? balderdash!).
Anyone.... anyone? Bueller?
