Hello,
I used USB viewer (the USB link on the Admin desktop) when i loaded the USB viewer after boot it did not find the midisport 4x4. Though, when i unplugged the USB and reconnected then the unknown device showed up.
Since i'm a newbie, keep in mind that i'm missing 99,99% of understanding what i'm doing. (I just want to make music in a low budget situation)
Ok
I did modprob snd-usb-audio
modprobe snd-usb-audio
I now used the PCinfo tool and there it does mention the midisport,
OH, yes? So, it must be running... Could you send us the pcinfo.txt file? OR: If you type into a terminal: "lsmod | grep usb" what does it shows?
but none of the LED's on the interface light up, and in Rosegarden or other apps i can't find any Midi In/Out to select.
From JACK Control, see the MIDI Tab! Or From Rosegarden, see: https://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php/DocMIDISystems#MIDI_Keyboards.2C_har...
Could it be i misunderstand how to select a midi input in linux (due to microsoft brainwash)?
Something like this, but, it¡s easy, you will see :D
Mano.

Hello,
Where can i find a tutorial to configuring the midisport interface under Musix?
I noticed that the interface is not detected on boot, i need to unplug and reconnect the USB cable, then USB detects it.
What app detects it?
But as a 'unknown device'. So now i need to learn how to get it working in Musix/Rosegarden.
I'm still working from the Live CD.
See: http://alsa.opensrc.org/usb-audio
Did you loaded the usb audio module?
In a terminal window, type:
modprobe snd-usb-audio
We had not added it to:
https://www.musix.org.ar/wiki/index.php/Drivers_System
(updated, now)
If you have any succes, just tell as please!

Hi Marcos,
Well.. I tried everything. Here are the results:
mv /usr/sbin/mkxf86config /usr/sbin/mkxf86config-disabled
Even after this, the resolution continues to reset. It is not dependant upon a reboot. I simply have to logout and then login and my resolution has reset to 1600x1200 from 1280x1024. This is consistent. I believe that Kcontrol is not saving the configuration for the monitor. I don't know what to do at this point.
gtk-theme-switch
I ran this and hit apply. Still, some programs had tiny fonts.
I really think there is something wrong with Kcontrol. I'm using IceWM-English version. I tried it in the Spanish version though and it was the same effect.
I really don't understand how it sets my resolution to 1600x1200 when I deleted the entries in xorg.conf for that resolution and renamed mkxf86config. Very odd.
Do you have any further ideas?
Thank you for your time, Steven

Please, is there a way to save the desktop
settings?
Yes, it depends on wath kind of settings do you mean...
xorg:
mv /usr/sbin/mkxf86config /usr/sbin/mkxf86config-disabled
GTK: gtk-theme-switch
KDE: kcontrol
Every time I login, I have to reset my resolutions
all
over again.
mv /usr/sbin/mkxf86config /usr/sbin/mkxf86config-disabled
I'm just about ready to give up on Musix from all the configuration hassles. =(
Well, that would be sad
