Hello List! I am not new to music, MIDI. or Linux. However, I am new to using them all together. I first started learning Linux audio and MIDI in August of 2005. I tried Agnula and DeMudi, but they would not even boot on my IBM NetVista PC. I found the correct combination of boot options that allowed Musix to boot from CD. Since Musix is the one that booted and ran, I decided that was the one to use. I apologize that I don't know any Spanish, and my French needs a lot of practice. -=cybersean3000=- __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I just started to create backing tracks. For the last 18 months, I have been singing and playing guitar by myself at my church on Sunday's. In order to add variety (and wake people up), I want to create backing tracks with drums, bass, and other instruments. Copyright laws prohibit me from sharing any of my work so far. I perform these pieces under my church's CCLI license. --- Marcos Guglielmetti <[email protected]> wrote:

Actually, no, I have never knowingly used a pirated copy of windows (not since Windows 3.1 at least). I have one windows computer at home with the original XP Pro that came with it. All other computers in my house are Linux. I am a Linux admin at my current job, with a Linux desktop. My last job was as a Linux admin, . It has been years since I used windows professionally.
very well, i can't say the same ... I think that is a very good attitude. The developers had the right to be paid. My first computer came with all the software pirated, so i had a bad start :) In the other way, many of the pirate software that i used helped m.cr.s.ftin their way to the monopoly... The pirate software in a sense, help the countries/people with less money to learn and grow, so that our goverments have to pay the m.cr.s.ft (and others) tax. I could never have learn autocad if i had to by a 1000 $ license while in school. I really like the software libre fundaments, and it is really great to be able to have a great OS to learn and to participate. Um abraço!

so, you never used a pirate copy of windows? :D And i'm shure that if you really need such an app, well you could always ask permition to the developer (even if he is a anarkist like myself) :)

Microsoft Windows shows up in very strange places. It is in cars, network printers/fax machines, and even high end recording equipment and audio mixers. I think you don´t have to worry if you use free software. But it would be good if you show the creative commons license to the people of the church, maybe they like it and adopt it... cheers!

Good. Anyway, you can always use any LADSPA plugin on alsa modular synth (ams), and more graphically than on jack-rack. Me, being a non-believer and all, find that restriction on jack-rack a really stupid thing. But I'm also against the zynaddsubfx statement that says: "Please don't use this program to make music that is against God and Jesus Christ. Realize that the only way to the Salvation is Jesus Christ. Please don't lose this chance and don't make others to lose it!". I think it would be better to ask to not using any part of that software for war purposes. That'd be more loving and impartial. Be happy. On 3/7/06, Sean Edwards <[email protected]> wrote:

I have nothing against those distros, Linux is Linux. With DeMudi, the kernel loaded, but it locked up decompressing the first gzip'd file from the bootable CD ROM; system utilities I think. The problem may be my PC, it is a P4 2Ghz, but only 384 MB RAM. Musix worked and DeMudi didn't, it is just that simple. --- Marcos Guglielmetti <[email protected]> wrote:
To be fair: I think that those distros must run into your PC... but I could not know how to do it.

Hi Cybersean Don't worry about your spanish. There are a lot of english speakers around here. Welcome to the Musix Community! We're glad you liked it!!! -- Wayfarer www.cannotbefound.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sean Edwards" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, March 06, 2006 5:21 PM Subject: [Musix-Help] Hello List
