8 weeks to go- time to start putting a biochar show together. The first question I need to ask is: can scrap pallets be sourced locally? The more firewood I have to haul from Slough, the less equipment I can bring. Stands to reason.
What format of demonstration/ workshop would excite people? Remember, it's not about "making charcoal", it's about integrating your cooking/water heating/space heating needs with charcoal production to deploy as biochar- otherwise two thirds of the energy in the wood goes to waste.
I can bring:
2 proven RWAP burners
1 mini RWAP
A 2m by 1m grid and supports to make a basic field kitchen.
Basic ingredients and utensils to make chapattis and soda bread, but I'm obviously reluctant to handle food with the same hands as I handle the charcoal with- could I hook up with someone with a bit of food hygiene savvy?
Various stack burners, but I'm leaning towards the idea of bringing the components of an entry level stack burner, demonstrating how to build it in the evening, and lighting it after dark.
Discuss.

Dear Soil health enthusiast
The second national Soil Hack gathering is taking place over the weekend of 26th-27th May. We invite you to come and contribute your experiences, share ideas and learn about soil regeneration: As part of a DIY movement, we'll collectively discuss, study, explore and celebrate the living soil upon which we all depend. This is an opportunity to work together as part of a knowledge-sharing network, to empower one another to understand more about soils and take actions to improve their health.
We'd love for you to join us and get involved - it's going to be ground-making!
Do you have a burning question to ask? Experience to share? A new innovation to tell the world about? Well we want to know all about it! Please let us know in advance if you have ideas for workshops / sessions you would like to be involved in organising.
