To: fcforum at list.fcforum.net

Sorry for cross posting.
FYI and for any help you could provide:

* Xnet asks for help against the threats hidden in the Whisleblowers'
protection law proposed in the Spanish Parliament. + presentation of the
Spanish situation to the MEPSs. *Content of the bill:

*> doesn’t protect whistleblowers; > creates lists of them, to control them
and lists of dissidents to pursue them > exclude anonymity and encryption >
creates a STASI type institution that can control anyone in any manner with
no judicial ruling *
Last week, Xnet launched the campaign #VuelveLaSTASI (STASI is BACK)
denouncing the serious flaws of the Spanish draft law for "whistleblowers
protection" that not only insufficently protect whistleblowers but also
undermines citizens' rights and actually trump the disclosing to the public
opinion and justice of corruption, wrongdoings and abuses.

Today, 29th march, Xnet have register a list of admendment in the Spanish
Parliament and exposes the delicate situation in Spain in a Roundtable on
Whistleblowers Protection in the European Parliament, sharing its
experience working with whistleblowers and providing arguments to ask the
European Comission for a strong EU-wide whistleblowers protection law.

Simultaneously, in Spain, Xnet is meeting with deputies from several
political parties in the Spanish Congress to present them the amendments
Xnet has drafted to redress such infamous law.

All the details here:

Many thanks to all of you for any help you could provide.

Simona for Xnet
