Dear all,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to the Meeting in Berlin in
October but do check out a number of other conferences on commons that are
coming up soon, organized by the International Association for the Study of
the Commons, an international non-profit organization that brings together
scientists and practitioners working on commons. I'd would like to draw
your attention to no less than five upcoming IASC-conferences on various
issues related to the commons. Check out the list underneath and join us in
Bologna, Bern, Paris, Anchorage, or Utrecht. As a member of the IASC, you
are not only entitled to a reduced publication fee in the IJC, but also to
a reduced conference fee. Are you not yet a member of the IASC? Do consider
joining our community and enjoy the opportunities and benefits IASC offers
to its members.

You can immediately become a member via
https://membership.iasc-commons.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=4.
Please note that our membership fee is related to income level. Multi-year
membership even comes with a 10% discount on the annual membership fee.

IASC-Conferences on commons- See you in Bologna, Bern, Paris, Anchorage,
Utrecht…?

We just had a successful biennial IASC-meeting in Edmonton, Canada, but
there are many more interesting conferences coming up between now and our
next biennial meeting in Utrecht (10-14 July 2017). Please note that as a
member you will get a considerable discount on registration fees!

Next conferences:

-Bologna (Italy), 6-7 November 2015, IASC Thematic Conference

governance’

- Bern (Switzerland), 10-13 May 2016, IASC Regional Conference
(Europe)

Get published via the IASC…

Do also check out the IASC’s open-access, peer-reviewed International
Journal of the Commons (published at least twice a year, current impact
factor 1.538). Members get a considerable discount on the page fee when
publishing in the journal. Also all our other publications, such as the
quarterly publication Commons Digest, are free to consult.

Do also consider to put your own case study in the picture on our flyers
(see the Picture this!-campaign), in our online Commons in Action series
on our website and consider to use our communication platform CommonsNet to
communicate with other members.

Get informed via the IASC…

Members can also take part in the IASC-Online Courses on the Commons, see
http://www.ccri.ac.uk/managing-our-common-resources/. As a member you will
also receive on a regular basis the IASC newsletter. Click here for our
news overview.

At the moment, we are thinking of expanding our services to members, by
offering other services such as a collection of teaching materials, an
extensive archive of audiovisual materials and more. In order to set our
priorities, we have developed a short questionnaire, which you can fill out
via this link. Please share your ideas and comments with us. Your feedback
is very valuable to us!

Also know that the IASC is the host institution for the Elinor Ostrom
Award, the biennial award created to honor and develop the legacy of Elinor
Ostrom. The award aims to acknowledge and promote the work of
practitioners, young scholars, and senior scholars involved in the field of
the commons and is awarded biennially at the Biennial Conferences of the
IASC.

For a concise overview of our past and future activities, have a look at
the presentation used at the IASC Membership Meeting at the IASC Biennial
Conference 2015 in Edmonton. Or visit the IASC Website at
www.iasc-commons.org!

Get involved…

Are you visiting a conference or event? You can help to spread the word
about the journal and the IASC among others interested in the commons. Just
drop us a note via iasc at iasc-commons.org and we will make sure you will
have promotional materials at your disposal.

Please note that as of 1 July 2015, the IASC secretariat will move from
UNAM in Mexico to Utrecht University in The Netherlands. Do not hesitate to
get back to us with any queries or suggestions on how we can improve our
services to our members. Send your remarks, tips, and suggestions to
iasc at iasc-commons.org.

We are looking forward to welcoming you as a member of the IASC!

Kind regards,

Tine De Moor, President of the IASC.
Rene van Weeren, Executive Director of the IASC.
