social activism?"
*Sam Rose*:
I don't think social networks are the "new" platforms for social activism.
Social networks definitely are platforms for social activism, though.
Many people do not realize that activity among participant activists online
usually happens across a diverse range of "Technologies of Cooperation", not
limited to social networks, but also including self and service hosted
blogs, wiki sites, social bookmarking services, email discussion groups like
google groups, yahoogroups and mailman email lists, open source software
like statusnet, and emerging services like quora. Social networks are only a
part of the total picture.
