Pixelache workshop: How to co-design an Open Design community (Helsinki,
Finland)
Massimo Menichinelli has been invited by
Pixelache<http://www.pixelache.ac/>to host a workshop about how to
organize an Open Design community with a
collaborative process. The workshop will take place next September in
Helsinki (Finland).
Pixelache Helsinki is a multi-disciplinary platform for developing and
presenting experimental art, design and research projects. Amongst
Pixelache's fields of interest are: experimental interaction and
electronics; grassroot organising and networks; politics and economics of
media/technology; VJ culture and audiovisual performances; media literacy
and engaging environmental issues. You can read more about

The workshop will be part of
Pixelversity<http://www.pixelache.ac/helsinki/pixelversity/>,
the outreach & education programme of Pixelache Helsinki scene around the
year.
The lectures and the workshop will cover these issues:
- What is Open Design and how is it changing design?
- How can we organize an Open Design community?
- Which are the technologies (software and manufacturing) that enable
Open Design?
- Which are the markets and the business models for Open Design?
*Date:* Friday – Saturday 16-17 + 23-24.9.2011
*Open Lectures (evening):*
1. 16.9.2011 Open (P2P) Design
2. 23.9.2011 Business models for Open Design
*Workshop:*
17.9.2011 and 24.9.2011 (full day)
*REGISTRATION*
There is room for 20-30 participants, so please register before 1st of
September 2011, and a notification of acceptance will be given on 7th of
September 2011. Please send an e-mail to info at openp2pdesign.org with these
information:
- Name
- Place
- Short bio (200 words)
- Motivations / proposal for projects and communities to study (300
words)
- Operating System (you should bring your own laptop and we can help you
with the software)
*Materials:* bring your own laptop!
*Fee:* Free for the Open Lectures, 50 € for the workshop
