Does someone knows how to solve it? Could the jackd package from debian/etch
be just in a bad situation? I mean: is this problem related to the debian
package or not?

"These is a bug in both 0.99 and 1.0rc1 if one wants to use firewire sound
cards (Terratec Phase 88 FW is mine but misbehaviour is general).
libfreebob0 is installed by default but libjack0.100.0-0 misses
jack_frebbob.so.
So if you try to start jackd with freebob in this way:
$jackd -vd freebob
you will get this error message:
$jackd: unknown driver 'freebob'
No way to make my card worked from live CD or default installation. One has
to install to hd Musix, resolvie dependencies compiling sources, etc. etc."
apt-cache policy jackd
